January 2011 Bandsters !!!

lol melzie - GOOD, I am not alone in my last meal thoughts!! haha I have been trying to not drink with my meals as well... needless to say, I haven't been doing well! It's so natural and a force of almost 30 years of habit! I'm also trying to chew my food more times... again, this is a hard one.... I am hoping that once I am banded and have a actual REMINDER in my body that it will be easier!!

Pills immediately post-op?

good post Jen! I would like to know about this as well....
3. After all these years of dieting and starving myself to loose weight and all the other shenanigans I've been through - the liquid diet will be easy! Not saying I won't be hungry but I've definitely done more drastic measures unfortunately! I wish everyone the best of luck!!

Edited to add-- any protein drink/shake suggestions?? I am going to do like some people posted and add crystal light to some of the less flavor-full ones!

January 2011 Bandsters !!!

hey Ryan - it seems like your process has been pretty flawless so far!! Here's hoping your surgery goes the same! =) I've got 45 days until mine!! OMG it seems so far away yet so close!!! amybethy - how great you know an exact date now! You can get ready now in a little more detail! Has anyone else already thought about what their "last meal" pre-band will be? I have.... lol I guess that's just the fat person in me!! booooo
5. Hey everyone! Carolanne keep us posted! I'll be thinking of you! What did they think was the deal - did they have any idea prior to the testing? What type of pre-op diet do you all have to do? I've got 10 days on liquids.... trying to decide on some good Protein shakes and drinks for pre AND post op - there's so many choices - I'm overwhelmed!! It doesn't help I am THE most indecisive person already!! haha

January 2011 Bandsters !!!

Melzie- YES!!! All that toe crossing worked I guess!! Lol Turbodriver-welcome! Lots of Protein drinks and low carb, high protein foods is what I'm expected to eat my 10 days pre-op - for the same reasons stated - it's that liver that needs to be shrinked! Can't wait to see your results!
7. I want to be able to walk into any "normal" clothing store and know (as long as they have talls...haha) that they have my size. I want to feel beautiful and confident in whatever dress I choose on the day I marry my best friend! (October 15, 2011) I won't even get NEAR a wedding dress right now at this weight..... I look forward to being able to walk on a plane and not worry where my seat is and who it's next to and how am I going to hide that the seat belt doesn't fit so the stewardess doesn't get on my ass about it - and even better yet - don't have to pretend I'm PREGNANT cause I'm too ashamed to ask for a seat belt extension out of fatness!! (Yes, sadly, I DID this once....atleast I really didn't need the extender anyways, but dammit I was prepared! lol) I want to be able to walk into any place at any time and not stare at the chair I'm about to try and sit in with the fear in my mind of, "is my a$$ going to fit....?? should I sit a little sideways at first just to make sure?" I am looking forward to being able to sport a sexy swimsuit and for the first time EVER don't worry about how my thighs/stomach/butt looks and have to wear frumpy a$$ cover-ups while my friends are running around in their bikinis!! I am sure there are LOTS LOTS more... this is just the ones that strike my fancy at the moment.... :success1:

I am not ok...I'm really not

hang in there girl - and CUT LOOSE from any negativity in your life! Including that boyfriend - he can either $hit or get off the pot! (pardon the phrase but it's appropriate here)... This is a HUGE life change for you and he's either ALL in or ALL out - there's no gray area here. Are you feeling any restriction at all since your fill? What type of stuff have you been eating? We're here for ya! Stay strong!

The biggest loser episode 12-07

Unfortunately - you can't pick your family! lol That's one of my favorite sayings and my fiance and I use it all the time in reference to his "family" - if you can call them that! Be happy with YOU girl - don't let their negativity affect you in the slightest - you're too nice - I would of been slinging some insults right back at 'em! lol But, then again - it IS family so I know you're more than likely just trying to keep the peace.... some people just need filters inserted over their mouths!

A little TOO easy?

Melzie it's easy to get a little overwhelmed - especially when you know your surgery is now around the corner - I think what you've experienced is expedited, yes - but should not raise any flags... like you said - be grateful - that's awesome you're getting in quick! You'll be thankful for it later when you're on the path to weightloss!

January 2011 Bandsters !!!

Congrats AmyBethy!! How WONDERFUL!!!! DudesMom - are you getting your surgery done here in the states? I know, it is kind of relieving in an odd way about not having to jump through insurance hoops.

100 lbs in 3 yrs...

Thank you SO much Apples!! Your kind words really mean a lot to me.
20. I'm sitting at my pcp's office, needing to get back on my anxiety meds.... usually I refuse to let them weigh me.... but I figured with my surgery coming up next month I need to quit avoiding the facts (my favorite thing to do) and bite the bullet. I am 11 lbs heavier than when I weighed at my consult for a gastric doc in September. Which means over the past 3 years I have gained 100 lbs...and the last ten years 180 lbs all together. I'm trying to process my feelings right now and my "mind's" first response to this news it "I want to eat"..... that little voice that broke thru from the back of my thoughts still managed to surprise me even though I am fully aware of the fact that I'm an emotional eater.... this surgery seriously couldn't come fast enough. I need help, and feel like such a failure. :(

100 lbs in 3 yrs...

Thanks everyone....it's so nice to be able to "talk" to people that can relate...it's good to be able to get it out. I've thought about doing a blog b\c I've been reading two or three other banster's blogs and it's really helped me, but I'm afraid if I do one that no one will read it! Lol I suppose that's a normal fear.... Melzie - I have a stepson but no biological children yet. We definitely plan on having children but I can't even think about becoming pregnant at this weight - it would be a death wish! And the thought of gaining more weight while pregnant and being in this same position just makes me exhausted thinking abt it. Roedayo and btreiger - thank you for your positivity!! Ya'lls encouraging words are exactly what I need right now!
22. Hey! I wish you the best of luck - and if you ever need someone to listen or chat with just let me know! It takes a lot of support to get through this process - so all us bandsters need to stick together!
23. Hey girl! I am currently in Texas - but originally from IL, and we're moving back there in June. Not from the Chi-town area - about 3 hrs southwest in the Quad Cities, but my friends and I used to always take monthly trips up on the train to shop, etc. So I know I am not close now, but will be a lot closer, soon! I still have quite a few college friends that live up in the city or the burbs as well. I graduated from Western IL back in 2004.
