  1. I'm one of the lucky ones. I've been with my sweetie 16 yrs. He loves me for me and supports me no matter what size I am. He never has said one negative word about my weight. He actually stays neutral about the issue, and supports me and my choice about it at what ever point n my life I'm in. I've a very lucky girl and wish every one had that kind of support.

    Any Bandsters from Louisiana?

So funny you said that. Yep, he likes to ask trick questions. Learned real fast to act stupid and say.... I don't know anything. You are the doctor and expert. You tell me the answer. That make him happy, and you will get along much better. Yes, he has been doing this for YEARS, and I am confident in his ability... just taking me a while to put myself in check.

I don't mind the questions at all. Click on my name and that should link u to my other posts. They will explain the restriction issue. Yes I have posted that question on here and got some realy good and informative replies. I was banded May 28. I was self pay, so I had first appt on a Thursday. I went on vacation the next week. Had all my pre op test, blood work, and stuff on Monday. Had followup on Thursday, and surg that Friday morning. It went fast. Scheduled all of it at my very first apointment. As far as restriction, you will feel it the first 6 weeks because of swelling. Then its gone.... bandster hell, but I'm going to make it, and I can do this. I ordered several exercise dvd's this morning. I'm back on lo-carb(I've lost 70 lbs twice before doing that with exercise)...so, I know I can do it, just a matter of making myself do it. And I don't mind at all if you want to message me email me. Mommy2brayden@aol.com..

    Any Bandsters from Louisiana?

Well, the surg went great. No problems. Post surg diet sucked, but I stuck it out. Only complaint so far is that he really did not make it clear that I would not be able to feel restriction till about my 3 rd fill... which is 24 to25 weeks post op. Till then, I am really on my own as far as losing weight. Still would have had it done, but I might would have considered the sleeve a little more seriously. ???? Idk though.... I will make this work, I just have to suck it up. I do like him...he is a liittle cocky, but I happened to work around a lot of surgons 10 yrs ago, and I discovered that normally the most obnoxious ones were the best at what they do... lol... you will do great I'm sure. Let me know if i can help with any questions or anything.

    I'm finally in Onederland!

Congrats...I can't wait to see that number again....
  6. Yes, protine will work, it is just slower. The juice is a quick fix, and its easy. Its also easy to manage the calorie intake as long as you are aware of what it it.

    Pressure from Others

I told exactly two people I had the surgey, and that was one too many. That and the money issue was the reason. I don't want to have to answer or explain to anyone.
  9. Had surg of Friday and went back to work on Tuesday....only because Monday was a holiday. Could have gone back on Monday. I'm 31. No problem's. Some pain, but not anything terrible.
  10. I'm 8 1/2 weeks and get it every time I eat.

La here. North La.. Shreveport/Bossier area too...
  12. I have/had this all my life. It's due to low blood sugar. When your feet hit the floor in the morning, drink about 4 oz of 100% fruit juice. If you start feeling shakey later in the day, drink a couple more oz when you feel it comming on. It will cure you right up. Just be careful to only drink what you need, because of the calorie issue. It will work.
  13. Okay, I just need to vent. Surgery date May 28, 2010. Doctor's 1 st adjustment 7 weeks post-op. I have the largest band (i think 14cc) (which he told me I didn't need to know what size it was... I had to drag it out of him)He put in 3 cc's at the first adjustment. I have no idea if he put any in at the time of placement, because he won't tell me. Next adjustmet is set for 6 weeks. I called the office this morning because I can't even tell I've got a band. I swear I could eat a house and still not know I had a band. So I call to see if I could get the adjustment date moved up. NOPE....6 weeks and not a day early... said it is NORMAL, and not to expect to really noitce till my 3 or 4 adjustment. (not to mention I'm going to pay for these adjustments out of my pocket) Thats at least 18 weeks... plus the 8 1/2 I've already waited. She said if he adjusted too fast, I'd HURT MYSELF. This is BULL CRAP. I sure wish he would have told me it would be 6 months before I would be able to use this plastic I paid for... self pay might I add.:bolt::cursing::smile2:..... Anyone else have a doctor this hard headed. Apparently this is his standard procedure. Before you say get another Dr, .... where I'm located there is only one other Dr. that does B. surgery, and he won't adjust another dr's pt. So, I'm stuck with the Dr I have. So if I want to lose any weight before 6 months, I'm going to have to do it all on my own.... Which I would have been okay with, If i hadn't paid out my teeth for the dang thing. I know it will work, if he'd just adjust the stupid think. It's like giving a hungry fat girl a slice of pizza and say... here Honey, just hold it, smell it, but don't eat it.........URGGGGGGgggggggggg....... Frustrated................. Thanks for letting me vent. I'm going to make this work, i'm just disgusted with him right now.

    8 1/2 weeks post-op and disgusted.....

Thank you all for your advice. I really appreciate it, and I know you are right. Actually I knew it when I posted, but sometimes it just helps to vent. I'm going to hang in there. I know I can lose the weight on my own, because I've done it twice before. My problem is keeping it off after I have lost it. I was really just hoping for a lot of help from the band with the loosing process this time..... Because lets face it, it's friggin hard to lose weight...... URgggggGG.. Guess I'll just have to suck it up, and put on my big girl panties. Thanks again for the replies. I feel so much better just finding this board. It means a lot to have people going through the same things. Especially since I don't have anyone else to talk to about it. I have chosen not to tell my family, which has been a challenge because I work with my family everyday. (Family owned business) My husband and best friend are the only two that even know I had the surgery. (Didn’t want to be judged because of the self-pay cost issues)... anyway, thanks....

I felt the same way..... about 5 - 6 weeks out is when it all changed. Apparently it takes that long for all of the swelling to go down, and I just didn't realize it. I felt I had good "restriction" up to that point. Boy did it ever change after that. I hope you continue to have great restriction.
