  1. Hi Ruthi, I am in Santa Clarita too, I'm in Newhall. I am hoping to get Sleeve next month at Northridge. How do you like yours? Any regrets? Any advice?

    Thanks Nancy

  3. Hi, How are you doing? Did they have to go back and close again? Do you still have a feeding tube? I think of you often and hope things are getting better.

  5. Hi, I am still trying to figure out the changes on the site so if this is a repeat message that's why.

    isa,

No problem. I am only two months out so my experience is limited. And forgive me in advance I do tend to ramble.

I have always been overweight not grossly fat just overweight except for a short period in my mid twenties when I was actually thin. Then i...

  6. Hi, I can not believe what Kaiser is doing to you. It is crazy that they don't even take us on a case by case basis just lump us into their rigid standards. It just isn't fair! I saw my PCP last week first time I was there since surgery and explained why I went to self pay I told her mentally I just could not purposely gain 20lbs to meet their standards and she said it would be madness to do that because it would put my health in further rick for problems. Anyway I wanted to tell you how sorry I am and to keep fighting!

  7. Hi, I have a friend who is just about done with the options program in PC they told her it will be another 4 months before they schedule her surgery you will meet again with the Doctor when you are just about done with the options program. Anyway I wanted to give a shout out to a fellow Santa Clarita future sleever!

  8. Hi, I wanted to ask you something about celiac disease. I understand the diesease what I don't understand is why everyone seems to be on the gluten free diets of late even though those who do not have celiac's. Just wanted to know if there is something to the diet.

    Thanks

  9. Hi, I was reading about you getting PLICATION and was wondering about something what about the hunger hormone thing? Just curious I have already been sleeved but have a friend who is considering it.

  10. Hi, Thanks again for your great suggestion about checking the options program locally about finding a PCP with WLS experience. The one at Panorama City isn't taking on any more patients but they told me to make a consult with him so he can coordinate my care with my PCP.

  11. Hi, The isopure isn't too bad not great but tolerable. Last night our oldest and his family came over plus our nephew and my BIL who is here *again* so we took the whole gang to Hometown. I got some chicken vegetable soup a spoon full of mashed potatoes and a couple of pieces of jello and picked at my plate while everyone else ate and it was no big deal I didn't even look at the deserts which is my main weakness(G) When we left I was full but not overly so the chicken and carrots which I cut into tiny bits and chewed well no pain no indigestion. It was wonderful! The bottomless pit finally has a bottom! So far I have lost about 16lbs.

    Nancy

  12. Hi, You've lost 26lbs what do you mean you aren't losing as you should that is great! I got the okay to start regular food and promptly overate and this time got sick! First time I did that and was a little freaked how quickly it happened. I am having trouble too trying to figure out how and what to eat. We are suppose to go out to dinner tomorrow night and I am kind of scared. I still gets bouts of diarrhea I don't know what will happen now that I am branching out to regular food. I get frustrated myself my head keeps telling me I am not eating enough but my stomach saids otherwise that and I keep forgetting and drinking too soon after eating. It is an adjustment we will do it!

    Nancy.

  13. Hopefully your surgeon won't be stuck in traffic and make you wait an extra 30 minutes. Boy oh boy the last thing I remember is scooting over to the operating table and an oxygen mask on my face and the next thing I knew I was in recovery I could not believe it as over I went in around 3 and was out awake at 5. I just found out I have to keep the drain in until next week but other then being awkward its no big deal and I can still shower with it. I think the fact that you are young and not super obese should really serve you well.

    Nancy

  14. I got some Greek yogurt plain flavor. I won't be able to eat it for two weeks but somehow I seem to be nesting for my sleeve. Thanks for the prayers and good thoughts.

  15. I have such low expectations to begin with losing one pound is a thrill(G) I hate throwing up too I just didn't realize I had eaten too much until it was too late I forget to slow down. I have had bread but only 1/4 of a slice and did not have trouble with it but I hear it is common to have issues. They say to start with toast no crust. Tonight's dinner went well I order a chopped steak ate maybe 4 bites, mashed potatoes 3 bites one bite of bread a couple of green beans and two very small bites of cheesecake (it was my b-day dinner after all) took my time finished the same time as everyone else took to clean their plates. Enjoyed every bite and I did not over do it! For the most part I try to stick with mostly soft foods. I also made myself a small snack spreading a little refried beans on my baked ritz and I am full and satisfied after just 4-5 crackers. I just hope it stays this way.

  16. I hope now that you are a week out you are feeling a lot better.

  17. LOL! I think I got all my gas out with the first 48 hours I thought my chest was going to explode(G) That hurt! Yesterday I made myself two poached eggs for dinner last night way too much1 It gets kind of tricky when you start with the mushies I can not imagine what regular food will be like. Some days if I do not take a nap I can barely keep my eyes open after 9pm. Are you taking any b12? It is suppose to help with energy. Have you found any protein drinks you like?

    Nancy

  18. LOL! When will my mind catch up to my stomach!! I have to fight the urge to take two everything before surgery one tub of yogurt, one pop tarte, one taco....as not enough. Now half of one is too much(G)

How did your first post op go? I know you are worried about your weight loss where they happy?

    Nancy

  19. So glad to hear you are feeling better those first few days of yours sounded brutal. I still have some tenderness and soreness I think that is normal. My biggest issue now is eating too fast and too much my head hasn't quite gotten the memo. I started walking close to two miles on Friday.

    Nancy

  20. Thanks for the good thoughts. I am sleeved and home and you are day after tomorrow! It wasn't too bad I think the fear was worst then the reality. Last night was a bit rough I have problems with nausea, vomiting and reflux to begin with so that just added on to what might not have been much at all. Had a bit of pain mostly gas and have a drain hanging from my side I see the surgeon in the morning to have it removed. I would have to say the worst parts were the waiting, the barium and the dry mouth while npo until the ugi.

    Good luck

    Nancy

  21. Ugh! I tried some non fat refried beans with a little shredded cheese maybe 1/2 a cup...way too much didn't get sick but it was close finally after an hour I am starting to feel better. I thought I could eat the same amount as I eat with cottage cheese no way!

    Nancy

  22. You may want to read this blog from this lady who was sleeved in May and had a link and had trouble getting it to close. She is almost to goal now doing great but I figure you could email her and ask her whatever ? you have:
