    Oh My HAIR!!!

I have very thin very fine hair always have so losing it after surgery was a big fear of mine. I take biotin which I started before surgery and still drink one protein shake a day to make sure I get enough. I have been using Nioxin Shampoo and conditioner system 4 "for visibly thinning colored hair" and it seems to have made a difference.
  3. I am sorry you are still having problems. One of the biggest problem with dehydration is that it tends to make you nauseous which makes you take in less which makes your dehydration worse which makes you more nauseous. The thing that you need to fix it makes you feel worse at first. I saw you wrote about getting some grape isopure that was my favorite. I would mix in some grape flavor crystal light to make it tastier also there is Ocean Spray diet cran-grape. Right now it is more important for you to take in fluids then protein. Feel better.
  4. It really depends on what kind of things you may need to do around the house. You won't be able to lift anything weighing more then 8-10lbs bending down is a chore, no driving. My husband was able to pretty much leave me to my own devices after a couple of days. I'd say depending on how you feel as long as someone can come over if you need them and will check in with you a few times a day you should be fine after a couple of days.

    Scared

4oz 3 times a day isn't enough that's only 12oz a day and they want you to try and get in 64. You may want to try chicken broth since it has electrolytes in it you can mix in a scoop of unjury's chicken flavor the warm liquid felt good in my newly sleeved tummy. Also try drinking some diluted apple juice get the light sugar free and dilute it to 50% strength with water you can even use Walmart's crystal light in apple flavor. Also look into Gatoraide's G2 their diet blend.
  6. You might want to. pick up a bottle of liquid tylenol I had a headache from a combination of anesthesia hangover and withdrawals from caffeine, sugar and carbs the first week that really wasn't vicodin worthy.

    I need PJs

Tiff that is so funny! I was stuck with my high beams because the tubing from my drain was wrapped under my breast and no bra worked for me.

    I need PJs

Hi, I only spent one night and just took some loose men's boxer shorts so my butt won't hang out from the hospital gown.
  9. I had been on it for 4 years and just got weaned off last month. Had a few hot flashes when I got completely off but they have seemed to be gone now.
  10. Wow what a difference you look fantastic.

What Bougie did your Dr. Use?

Mine uses 40fr and I have heard that Kaiser uses 40 exclusively.
  12. That is good news all the way around and how lucky are you to be able to have your surgery so close to home. It's silly but I am just so excited for you after having to fight so hard to get this done.

  13. How'd the doctor's visit go today? Twenty more days!

  14. Hey don't hate on the shrugs they have some very cute and sexy lace ones!

    Unjury Strawberry

It wasn't my favorite either. I mix in a little Torani sugar free strawberry syrup or crystal like strawberry and that helps a lot. I also have put in blended strawberry yogurt low calorie kind. With the chocolate I use Hood's Calorie Countdown Chocolate milk it has less, sugar, carbs, and calories the skim milk yummm!
  16. Check with your surgeon. Are you taking iron supplements? They can cause black stools but even if you are still check in.

    Panties

LOL! In my day tongs were flip flops too! I have never tried them they just look uncomfortable as hell to me. There doesn't appear to be much vanity sizing in panties. Personally I rather the boy shorts they help hold in and hide the loose tummy skin;) I had trouble figuring what size I wore its not like you can try them on to see the fit (G) Right now I am between a 5 and 6 story of my life I am always between sizes.

Any 'self pay' sleevers out there?

Hi, I know there are several here who won appealing their insurance denials and won. Seems to me you would have a good case if they are willing to okay bypass and band. I was self paid here in S.Ca. The surgery and a year's worth of post op visits and labs was 15,900. I probably had to pay an addiction 1500 for some of the pre op tests, UGI, pyche eval, nut eval and path on the part of my stomach they removed.
  19. I loved mixing strained chicken noodle soup (I like it better then broth) and put in a scoop of chicken broth flavored protein powder.
  20. The list look good assuming you are eating the low fat beans and sugar free pudding. Becareful with the drinkable yogurts some are super high in sugar and not as much protein then a little greek yogurt .
  21. How is this for an "Ah ha" moment? I am now on maintance and while I do have to watch myself now and then I do feel like I am just eating normally. It occurred to me that what I eat now in calories, quality and quantity would be what I would have to be eating if I had not got my sleeve and "Did it on my own" I know with my whole being that there would be absolutely no way I could ever have done that. I know that my pre sleeved self would never feel anything but deprived eating...

    HUGE BELLY HANGING DOWN

I like the shapewear tanks that go down to your tighs. Walmart (Danckins) and Maidenform carry leggings and pants and capris with tummy control that works well. As far as panties I like the boy shorts.
  23. Oh boy do you bring back memories! I was actually happy when my surgeon was held up in traffic. I saw signs in everything from a sick cat to hold ups in getting my pre op tests taken, then I got a real sign a borderline EKG that is when I knew that this was something I had to do if I wanted to not only live but wanted my health back and not find myself needing joint surgery, or heart surgery, or rehab for a stroke. It has been 10 months now and I can not say enough about how happy I am.

    Greek Yogurt

I use it in my protein shakes and will make sugar free pudding (1/2 skim milk 1/2 Greek yogurt) I also will mix sugar free tarino syruips in it strawberry is my favorite.

    Recovery question

The first week was the hardest for me but truly not that bad just a generally crappy feeling. No bed rest it is best to get up and walk as much as you can. The hardest part is to get all your fluids in you pretty much have to take tiny sips all day long. I had a drain for nine days which seems to be unusual but it wasn't bad just awkward. Some people struggle with nausea and gas I had only a little. My stomach was swollen the first few days. By day 6 I felt pretty much like my self. Diarrhea is common fluids in fluids out. I had surgery on Tuesday and stopped pain meds by Saturday.
