    Panniculectomy

Not all of it goes in about 1/3 of it is out of you. The reason it hurts to have it just hang is that it's weight pulls its not major pain or anything but you definitely feel it being tugged on. I think I hooked it onto my pants one day but was so paranoid about it though I can not imagine anyone forgetting it. Since they will not be touching your muscles your tube will go in the space between your skin and fat and muscle. I never felt it while it was inside me and taking it out was so painless I felt silly for taking pain meds before my appointment. The staples to be honest are a PITA they'll be in what 5 days? The drains will actually help with the staples.
  2. Crossing my legs and being able to do my walks when it is hot out without feeling my heart do the cha-cha.

    Panniculectomy

I had a drain for 9 days after my sleeve. It isn't too bad just terribly annoying you have to clip it onto your clothing and worry about forgetting and yanking your clothes off never happened but was always in the back of my mind. Taking a shower is fun no where to put it and it hurts if you just let it hang. It needs to be emptied we emptied mine twice a day. Emptying it is easy and you can do it yourself if you have to its just easier to have someone else do it. I am lucky that my husband is not one to get queasy (G)
  6. Hi, I am a tummy sleeper and when I first got home I had the pillows all set to sleep upright and we have a recliner which I thought as back up. Neither felt comfortable so I grabbed my body pillow and sort of prompted myself up on my side almost on my tummy and that worked perfectly for me. I could only sleep on my left side like that I had a drain on the right side until day 9 but the right side also felt more tender.
  7. Have you heard from Jackie?

    menopause

Hi, I am 11 months out and post and I don't think it affected my weight loss I averaged around 10 lbs a month and got to goal around 8 months out. I think the biggest difference is that we have less fat pads so we look skinny in some areas.
  9. Hi, Glall stones are fairly common typically it hits women who are overweight, fertile, are forty (doctors learn it as the 4 f's female, fat, fertile and forty) so while you are younger and no longer heavy there is a good case for them having developed before surgery and since no one can prove it I think they would have to cover it. The further out you are the harder it is for your insurance to cover it. I am 11 months out and I get bouts of diarrhea about once a week I also get bouts of constipation it goes in almost a predictable cycle.
  10. Hi All, I just found a yummy Peanut Butter flavored Protein powder I use to when making surgar free chocolate pudding and using calorie countdown chocolate milk to maka shake add a banana so yummy. Its made by About Time.
  11. I hope you are in your room sleeved and doing well.

I cried at the supermarket today

I like making my chocolate protein shakes and sugar free puddings with Hood's calorie Countdown chocolate milk same amount of calories as skim milk and less sugar. Your body is still recovering from surgery so things can be a little wacky you'll feel better with each passing day.

    water aerobics?

Hi All, I was watching Extreme Makeover Weight Loss the other night. It was with a man named James who had 250lbs to lose. He had been doing water areobics and the host Chris Powell pretty much poopooed it implying that it did not offer enough resistance and would not get him anywhere. I always thought water aerobics was a good form of exercise. A friend who does it an hour three times a week told me that she is suppose to be burning 500 calories an hour. How can that not be good?
  15. Hi All, I have a question about vigorous vs moderate exercise. I am in my fifties and have what I think of is a good regime I walk 2 hours with hills five days a week and a second 30 minute walk at night 7 days a night averaging over 20,000 steps. I wear a bodybogg which logs my walking as moderate when I was heavy I'd hit vigorous on the hills. Do I need to get in the vigorous zone or is two hours in the moderate zone okay?
  16. That is amazing! The dress even looks big on you so pretty.
  17. I am sorry you are having such a rough post op time. The swelling is there and the staple line doesn't fully heal for 6 months. Right now your liquids and protein are your most important goal to meet. Its weird but the more dehydrated and deficient you get the more nauseated you feel. Are you taking any kind of PPIs like prylosec? A lot of new sleeves develop acid build up issues for a while after surgery I didn't but many describe the acid build up feeling like hunger.

    Vigorous vs moderate exercise

Oh yes walking is great especially if you can do hills. With your knee though maybe you should try water aerobics

I hate to say this but...

Hi All, I am in the same boat! The head hunger is crazy I didn't have it as much before surgery! It scares me silly. I try to snack on fruits only and strawberries cut up and mixed into sugar free vanilla pudding. Watermelon is a real tummy filler.

    Official: FitBit Thread

The reason the Forerunner doesn't work on a treadmill is that it works by gps so as far as its concern you haven't moved. I am not too sure about a track depends on sensitivity. I used Timex's version had to wear a chest strap to get heart rate I found it a little complicated. You can find some good deals on used ones on Ebay I bought my bodybugg V2 (less popular because it uses AAA batteries rather then the rechargeable lithium V1 and V3 have) for less than $50. Membership through Bodymedia allows you to buy a month to month membership $13 while Apex/bodybugg.com makes you buy a six month membership $79.

Walking is just not cutting it!!

I am with Shanny I love walking. I walk a little over two hours with hills five days a week and take my dog for a brist 45 minute walk every night. I like to call it my mental health time because I can hear myself think. Most days it doesn't even feel like exercise.
  22. They did my test the day after surgery. I had a hard time keeping it down in the end they only got a single pass.

    Unsupportive mother :(

Kristie, Maybe you should ask your mother if she rather you too end up needing PT after heart surgery due to obesity? I am almost 11 months out 70lbs down no more blood pressure or cholesterol drugs, sleeping through the night can move so much easier and loving my sleeve. Seeing now what I need to eat to maintain I know that there is no way I could have of ever make 1500 calories a day a life long commitment pre sleeve. Like everyone has said it has to be your decision. I imagine with your mom a lot of her negativity is just plain fear no mom ever wants to see their baby undergoing surgery when in their eyes there is another alternative.

    Official: FitBit Thread

I have a body bugg and think it is more accurate but it does cost more then the fitbit and you need to pay a monthly due in order to get your results. You really only need it for about a month. The main difference between the two is the bb uses gps while the fitbit measures your steps. The sleep mode isn't that accurate depending on your position while sleeping.
