  1. Yes and no. I buy less but I also buy better. I think over all I am maybe spending just a little less.
  2. Went to the dentist today good news even though its been 10 years I do not need a cleaning bad news is my stupid acidic saliva has erroded my enemal to the point I will be ending up with a mouthfull of crowns. Insurance covers only $1,000 a year so I'll only be able to do two a year that will take forever!

  3. Have you tried on some of your last year summer shorts that were too tight and have them slide down your legs yet. Its insane!

Size 8 is too small size 10 too big that's my other problem figuring out what size I am. Bras are the worst my poor little girls seem to fall and puddle up in the bottom of the cup yikes (BG)

Hi All, I am having a bit of a pity party here. The sag-age is really getting to me. I expected the bat wings and they don't bother me nor does the loose belly and back flab but the flab on my thighs is a whole another matter when I walk it flaps and waves from side to side. I thought that my butt and legs would not change they were toned with good muscle definition before surgery I did not realize that there was so much fat and now it looks like I am wearing a skin coat two sizes to be every thing is wrinkled my forearms my thighs, my butt and when I twist side to side everything from my neck down wrinkles up. My skin looks all crepe like a 90+ old lady. Then there are my clothes I was trying on some of my favorites that had been tight 60 lbs ago make me look like a 12 year trying her mom's clothes. I started making a pile of the ones I'd want to try and have altered and just got so overwhelmed even clothes like summer tees and shorts that I thought I could get away with are not going to fly. Good lord even my underwear barely holds on to my hips. I should be happy but I am not not sure why.

    NSV we all just got.

The only thing I wished he had done was do the whole episode on it. The woman was struggling a bit with the new her she had always identified her self as the big loud fat lady and now she needs to start looking at herself differently. One thing that was funny is that she had told her hubby that she did not want him to gush about her new body so he wasn't even though everyone else was and she was mad at him for it! He said "I married you at 320 because of who you are not what you looked like" what a guy!

Pounds to Drop a Clothing Size

Oh I forgot to mention that you lose differently after the sleeve then you do with diets. Losing 30 lbs pre surgery barely shows while post everyone notices.

Pounds to Drop a Clothing Size

Age is a factor too if you are older you will not have the same amount of normal fat pads then you did when you were younger. I am 20-25 lbs more then what I was in my twenties but I can actually see bones I have never had seen before. Also the younger you are the more your skin will be able to shrink down and hanging skin does add a bit. I am 54 and have lost 62 lbs I was 200 and am 5'2 I have gone down 5 almost 6 sizes down. Hope this helps.

Thanks Sleeve sisters I think it is in part having to get rid of so many of my favorite clothes and realizing it all at once. And I am having a problem wrapping my brain around the fact that weighing in the low 140s now is a whole lot different then it was 20 years ago.
  10. Hi All, Before my surgery I was a major diet soda addict I was drinking 3 liters a day and had been for 40 years. I have since my late teens issues with my tooth enamel it is dissolving. Since my surgery even though I stopped drinking diet soda it seems to have gotten worse. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

    VSG Regrets?

I am 7 months out and yes there are some negatives like today pulling out clothing that use to be a tad tight but wearable trying them on thinking they'd fit great now only to have the shirt and shorts fall down, a one should blouse that hung so low I was in danger of having a Janet Jackson moment and a sweather the DH use to think looked cute looks like a sack....oh yes terrible negatives! Nope! No regrets here.

    Gold Standard 100% Whey

Lynda, My surgeon feels that those who become lactose intolerant after surgery were probably mildly intolerant before surgery. I am almost 7 months out and still start my days with a shake. I like "About Time" 100% whey protein it costs something like $40 for a 2lb tub which gives 32 servings so it is the most economical I have found. I have always had a wicked sweet tooth so I get the chocolate flavor and use either skin milk with Nes-quik sugar free chocolate mix or I will add 1/4 cup of sugar free instant pudding (I make adding a scoop of the protein powder) or I will use Wall-Marts Calorie Countdown chocolate milk (same calories as skin milk). I will also add greek yogurt to my shakes and Tarino's sugar free syrups so yummy.
  13. I have always had trouble with dissolving enamel but it does seem worse since surgery. I don't seem to have a dried mouth and except for a blip in Feb (I was out of town almost 2 weeks and did not take care with my supplements and protein got run down and got sick) my labs have been all good. I was just about to post a question if other past diet soda addicts have this problem.

    Aretha Franklin

My guess is she had a sleeve. I know years ago she talked about a friend or family member who had bypass and died and was always adamant that she would never do it. I think it was the media who came out with pancreatic cancer I don't believe it was ever officially confirmed by her.
  15. Thanks. Her name was Bubbles she passed suddenly on Sunday :(

  16. Hi, I am almost 7 months out now. I averaged 10 lbs a month for the first five and it helped with the stalls averaging the weight loss out. As your new stomach heals you will be able to eat more then the early days that is why making sure you always eat protein first because that will fill you up quicker. I think around month 4 I was eating between 900-1000 calories a day I start my days with a protein shake make sure I have safe snacks on hand like sugar free jello and fruit.

    Proteing shake Issues!

Try making it ahead of time and let it sit in the fridge for about an hour blenders add a lot of air in the shake which really irritated my sleeve early on. I used Unjury and skin milk.

    Do sleevers vomit?

Hi I am six months out I think I might have vomited 4-5 times and the last time was about 3 months ago. This is probably TMI but it wasn't so much as vomiting it was more like how a baby spits up. I think it tends to happen the first few months.

    Shapewear

HI, I was just looking at this at walmart they had it for 20. They also had leggings with tummy control.
  21. Hi All, I already have had the sleeve and love it. I have a friend who is considering it and had some questions. She has type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure and some still mild kidney disease because of them. She spills protein in her urine and has elevated uric acid no gout. Her doctor wants her to cut down on protein and food that will increase her uric acid. Can she still have the sleeve? I think the doctor was saying no more then 5-6 oz of lean meat a day. While I know that with the weight loss from a sleeve she has a good chance to rid herself of diabetes and high blood pressure but the kidney damage won't improve just not worsen so would the sleeve be out because of her protein restrictions?

    Secret Sleevers

Hi, Pre-op I told no one mostly because I get so nervous and freaked by the idea of any kind of surgery and talking about it makes it worse. But now I am very open about it. For me I just could not lie about this over the years I have tried way too many things and diets that others had succeeded on and I would fail and feel bad about myself. To lie to pretend I lost 60+ lbs in 6 months from "exercising and diet" felt so wrong of course it helps that I am at an age where I don't give a damn what people think.

    Couple post-op q's

Hi, I was allowed sugar free puddings and skin milk during the full stage. Cottage cheese I could eat during the liquid stage if I blended it small curds. Like everyone has said each doctor has their preferences as far as the diets go. For me it was 4 days clear, one week full 1 week mushy 1 week soft and full diet at one month.

    Where are the 50s ???

Hi, I am 54 and I had my last period in 08 so I am post now. I am on hormone therapy. Anyway I have averaged about 10 lbs a month after my sleeve I suspect I probably have more sag then the younger sleevers but at my age who is ever going to see my mid drift, butt and breasts other then the hubby and since nature takes care of that by making us of a certain age far sighted he'll never notice And sag looks better then fat.

Hi, My feet are the only thing that haven't shrunk in the 6 1/2 months since I was sleeved. I have flat feet always have so that could be why.
