    water & liquids post-op

Popsicles (sugar free), dilute apple juice, crystal light, chicken broth with chicken flavored unjury, sugar free jello and isopure.
  2. Hi, I think mine was 90/57 when I finally got in to see my regular doctor to get the all clear on stopping my B/P meds. If there is a way to either talk to your doctor or even pharmacist and make sure the b/p med you are on does not have a rebound affect if stopped suddenly.
  3. Keeping it cold helps. I also loved the injury chicken broth flavor I'd mix it into strained chicken noodle soup. There are protein shots and you can mix some of the powders in water.

    Hair Loss

Hi, This was one of my biggest fears because I have super thin baby fine hair. I took biotin and collagen started them a month before surgery and have been using Nioxin shampoo and conditioner and never lost mine. There are several reasons for it the anesthesia can cause it, not enough protein and vitamins, and the stress of rapid weight loss the body goes into starvation mode once it does that it cuts back on feeding nutrients to the less important areas of the body like hair, nails and skin. It does grow back. It typically happens within the first six months of surgery.
  8. I had been stalled at the 10 lbs mark for six weeks and then almost overnight I dropped 5. I am excited for you we are both on the shorter side of life with similar surgery weights so I know what is waiting on the other side for you.

    Anybody Watch Ruby?

Hi, I have a good friend who us heavier then I was and has high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes and kidney damage. Having WLS was originally her idea. After going through Kaiser's option classes all she heard were negatives. I got sleeved right after she decided against it. We see each other often eat out together with our husbands. I am 6 1/2 months out now and have lost 65 pounds and have had no issues. She does not want the sleeve. We went out to lunch with a friend of ours she is scheduled for hip and knee replacement and can barely walk. Her husband has been pressuring her to lose weight. She doesn't want a sleeve. I don't get it if our roles had been reversed I would get mine in a heart beat! Denial? Food addiction? Then again it is a ^major^ decision and does require commitment.
  10. Loou, I am a major coward I will probably spend the rest of my life never knowing how in the world I found the courage to go through with. In the end I came to believe that one way or another I would end up in the hospital in pain the real question was whether I'd be there for the sleeve or some weight related issue. The decision was easier then. And now 6 1/2 months post I can say without any hesitation that it was the best decision I've ever made. Good luck.
  11. I have heard that you lose the weight a lot faster during the first six months I don't know but I had been in a long stall over six weeks and then suddenly dropped five. I don't track all the time but I try to stay mindful of what I eat and will mentally go over what I ate that day before going to bed. Traveling is a challenge for me it is so hard to plan ahead when I went to Alaska I came home with deficiencies. We are going to Disneyworld in Dec and I am a bit worried about it.
  12. At two months I would have gotten sick too and I started on meats at week 5. Even today at 6 1/2 months I'd have issues eating that. With a bun I might eat 1/4 to 1/2 without I eat around 3/4 of the patty. Chopped meat and dark chicken meat without the skin are the easiest along with fish. Next time you try meat eat only 1-2 ounces and only the meat and see if that is better.
  13. I am having a real hard time letting go of my fat clothes I think it is in part my fear that I will regain it all back. I never really *saw* how fat I had become denial is a happy place so I don't see how much I have lost.

  14. Hi All, I was watching a repeat Dr Phil the other day and he gave us all a NSV. He was talking to a woman who had had WLS didn't say which. She was over 300lbs before and looked to be well in onederland. Dr. Phil said at one point "A lot of people think having WLS is taking the easy way out. I know that the opposite is true. There is nothing easy about it" Nice to hear.
  15. I did not have one either just clear liquids for 3 days pre -op.

    Weight GAIN this week!!!!

Hi, My weight did that too early on I called it my weight loss two step. I would drop 2-3 lbs then gain it back bounce up and down 1 -2 lbs then after a week or so it would drop 3-5 lbs pounds then I would stay there until it started bouncing again.
  18. Load up on Zinc, airborune and Zicam rest and push fluids. If it is on its way out they will probably still do it.

    Surgery Complication Insurance

Do you have medical insurance that won't cover the sleeve? Technically they have to cover some of the complications.
  20. Size 6 jeans today...is this really real or am I dreaming?

  21. Thanks she was such a good girl Ironically I suspect it was her obesity that contributed to her passing.

  22. Thanks about our Bubbles. I don't know what I was thinking went through all my cold weather clothes but thought I could make do with the summer and buy them slowly as it went on sale come Aug especially since so many were tight! I guess I still don't see me yet.

  23. Hi, I quit the day before my surgery last Aug. I have had it a few sips here and there it makes burp a lot but beyond that no problem but also no interest.
  24. Mine is gone too it was the first thing *I* could see and feel on my body. I never thought I would because I had had mine forever.
