    EGD - what to expect

My experience was similar to Debbie's I wasn't completely out I drifted in and out because I had been having problems they took small samples of my stomach lining it didn't hurt just felt odd. The worst part was my nose kept itching and they would not let me scratch it! Afterwards we went to a movie and out to eat and I was just fine. Oh and before they started they made me swallow this awful gunk to numb my throat so I won't gag.
  2. I just checked out your latest pictures you look amazing.

  3. I have to say hot summer days post sleeve are so much easier to handle no more complaining that a/c isn't cold enough.

    BMI too low

Hi, I had the same problem and ended up being self paid. I know of a lot of sleevers who went through an appeal process with their insurance companies and won them so that may be worth looking into..

3500 Calories per pound of fat?

You have to consume 3500 calories above your daily metabolic rate (what you expend) I don't know about men but the average adult woman expends between 1500-1700 a day add exercise maybe 2000 -2300 so if post sleeve she would technically lose 1/2 a pound a day but then other things come into play water retention/loss, starvation mode, the need to dump the toxins that build up during rapid weight loss. In other words it is complicated those 3500 calories do equal a pound of fat but it works cleaner on gaining it then losing it.
  6. I am a little shorter then you 5' 2 1/2" I was 208 on my first consult 200 on day of surgery. My original goal was 149 we changed it to 135 when I was 4 months out and weighing 158. I am now 137.

    JUST CURIOUS....6 months out!

Hi, I was averaging 10 lbs a month and down sixty by my sixth month. I don't think you are a slow loser.
  8. OMG Look at you! Not only have you lost weight but you look years younger!

  9. Getting closer! Do you have a pre op diet?

  10. Hi All, I am nine months out and still have issues with gas and diarrhea. I may have a couple of days that are good and then get diarrhea and gas. Anyone have this? Any ideas?

    bowel issues

I was totally regular before the sleeve but have been having issues since. It doesn't seem diet related but I'll try and monitor it more. I see my PCP on the 27th and ask her then. Thanks
  12. I am praying for you that all goes well.
  13. I think everyone feels like this off and on during the first week or two. I remember thinking what have I done even before I got home! I kept a tiny two ounce cup and a bottle of what I was drinking near me at all times. You will be able to enjoy a BBQ with friend and pizza and movie you'll just be happy eating one piece of pizza and maybe a leg and wing of chicken once you are fully healed and you will be fully satisfied with the smaller amounts.

    Upper Arms???

Oh I love Kai! Hannah is great too and the after care is bar none the best and they are just so helpful and supportive. There is a mini arm lift with a smaller incision. The crinkly skin get me my knees have wrinkles but I will take it over the fat any day.
  15. I also read that you want to have it room temperature because when it is cold and hits your body temp tummy it releases the bubbles faster.

    Protein Bars anyone???

You have to be careful with a lot of the protein bars because a lot of them are loaded with calories a shake mixed with milk will give you 30g pf protein and 200 calories while the bars are easily twice that.

    Lifetime Fitness?

I haven't any experience with therm but the bottom line is where you like and feel most comfortable at. I think everyone has a routine you just need to find yours.

    Self Pay for VSG

I paid 15,700 it did not include all the pre op testing but covers a full year of post op labs and surgeon visits. I had it done in S. Ca my insurance won't cover it because my BMI was 38 and I did not have the *right* co morbidities. I am over the moon about my sleeve.

    Hospital Bill!!! How freaking insane!!!!!

It's a game that is played between insurance companies and hospitals at the end of the day they will get less then half of that.

    Upper Arms???

Stacy, I had Dr Lyass. Do you go to the center next door to the hospital. They are all great there. The follow up has been exceptional I don't know anyone else who did self pay that get a whole year of labs and follow up as part of the package. Your arms don't look bad to me and you are young my guess you will be surprised by how much does snap back. For me I am hating my breasts they have become pretty pathetic looking can you say training bras LOL!

    wedding etiquette ?

Hi All, DH and I have been invited to the wedding of a fishing buddy of his. He isn't close to the guy and neither one of us have met his future bride. It is his second marriage and he is our age 50 something. I know nothing about his bride. My question is the invitation has nothing in it about a registry so if we decide to go what do we do about a wedding gift?

    wedding etiquette ?

Thanks all. DH just told me we are probably won't be going (of course the last time he put me in this situation we ended having to go at the last minute). I was thinking that if we do end up going maybe a donation in their name to one of my favorite charities either pediatric cancer or march of dimes. He is a doctor so I think it would be appropriate.

Will my multi be off limits?

I currently take Centrum multis and my calcium pills are about the same size. With my multi I also take my other supplements (B complex, zinc, biotin, lysine and flaxseed oil) without any problems.
