    Vit D calcium

Hi All, I thought I'd share a lesson I learned. I went out of town for about two weeks and really did not give my vitamin/protein needs a thought thinking it is only two weeks what can it hurt. I brought my vitamins with me but didn't always take them and ate poorly. So I get back had my six month blood test which in Dec were great and my vitamin D and calcium were below normal and my phosphorus was elevated. So yes taking your vitamins is extremely important!

    six months post op

Thanks Sleeves Sisters I still keep pitching myself. Humpty I can feel my hip bones and in the right light you can see my rib bones on my chest I'm 54 and just discovering how different a 54 year old body looks from a 30 year old body. You and I are both shorties and your weight is close to what my sw was I can not imagine that I am anything but average in my weight loss so hopefully come Christmas you will be in the forties! Sleeve4me you already are there remember you are 3" taller then I am which makes you weight loss at 6 months ahead of me. At six months out I pretty much eat whatever I want within reason. I will always have to watch slider foods I try to stick with the Protein first rule with every meal. I start almost every morning with a Protein shake. I plan my meals ahead of time as much as I can if we are going out I'll check out their menu online. I go out typically twice a week and I have never had a server make a comment. I walk 5 miles a day five days a week but to be honest I don't think the walking is much of a factor to my weight loss since I have been doing the same walk for more then 7 years and I imagine I am burning less calories walking at 146 then I was at 208. Hope this helps.

    Why did he tell everyone??

Hi, I hope your surgery went well and welcome to the loser's bench. I am sorry you felt betrayed. My husband told everyone he knows too except in my case I wasn't keeping it a secret. I think maybe it is their way of dealing with their fears and anxiety I know it doesn't excuse his actions but you have to know he didn't do it to hurt you.
  7. Poo my vitamin D levels dropped! I knew those two weeks I was out of town I wasn't taking care of things but had no idea two weeks would make a difference.

    Sex after sleeve

Hi At the orientation seminar and again in the paperwork I got from my surgeon it said sex was okay as soon as you felt comfortable having it. We ended up waiting 2 weeks in part because I had a drain in for 9 days.
  9. Hi, I would ask your doctor to write you a note stating you had surgery and that you can only eat a child's portion and hopefully they will allow you to have their children's rates on the buffets

    PICC Line

Hi, I did not have a PICC line just a regular IV. Maybe they did a PICC line on you because your veins are not good enough to support an IV?
  11. Hi All, Someone had posted a picture of a sleeve 1 year out next to one that was 4. In neither picture did I see the staples. Where are they? Do they desolve after our scar tissue builds up?
  12. lunarose

    where are the staples?

Thanks guys. I was imagining the big metal staples they use to close deep cuts. I am glad they are non ferrous so if I ever need an MRI I can get one.
  13. lunarose

    where are the staples?

No I mean the stapples they use to close our stomachs themselves.

    Fat tumors

Hi All, I have several fat tumors some on my thighs a few on my stomach. I had hopped they would shrink along with the weight loss but they haven't and actually show more. Does anyone else have these? Is surgery the only way to get rid of them?

    Miss my insulation

Hi All, I am here in North Pole and it is oh so cold! I bought size 10 pants a few weeks ago but guess what they are too loose and trap in cold air! Kinda miss the extra insulation but am oh so glad its gone.
  17. Hi All, I am five months out and have a nasty cold and bronchitis something I have always had problems with. Anyway I am coughing and am worried about my sleeve. Am I far enough out so that a link isn't a worry? Anyone have any ideas?

    What should I start taking

Hi I started taking my multi-vitamins and calcium months before along with biotin and collagen caps and used Nioxin shampoo and conditioner. I have very thin hair so that was a big worry for me. I am 5 months out and haven't lost any. I also got use to drinking 3 liters a day and was walking regularly beforehand.

    H. Pylori

Hi, I have heard of others who have/had h. Pylori and have gone on with surgery without any problems. I seem to remember Kaiser saying at orientation that they won't but I could be wrong.

    BMI around 30

Hi, My BMI was around 36 when I had surgery. I was about 200lbs and my original goal was to be below 150. I reached that in 4 months so I changed my goal to 135 I am in the 4os now ( haven't been able to weigh myself in over a week because I am out of town). My insurance would not cover the sleeve saying my high blood pressure and cholesterol were not enough with a BMI below 40 so I went self paid. I did get heat too from the doctors of my ***.

    Miss my insulation

I can not believe how hot they keep the buildings in our hotel we don't even need to use our room heater because it is always 70 no matter how cold it is outside.

    Self Pay question

When I made my appointment they had just had their seminar but I had gone to the orientation at Kaiser before I was rejected. I had my first consult around July 28 and had surgery Aug 24. I was on a clear liquid diet for three days pre op. I had to have a psych eval and meet with their nut.. I had had an endoscope in 07 so I did not need to do another. EKG, chest x ray and blood tests I did through Kaiser and had them send the labs to my surgeon . I had my surgery in the states I'm in Ca.
