  1. I wish I had asked this same question. I had my surgery 10/25 and thought that I would go back to school on the following Thursday......not happening. I had VERY bad gas pains and port pains. Today is the first day that I actually feel good enough to stand at the sink and wash dishes. I would advise to give yourself at least 2 full weeks off. Don't try to push it. It just isn't worth it!
  2. Hi everybody! Well, I was banded on 10/25. This has been a very different experience for me than what I am reading here. When I woke up from surgery....I was crying to them that my chest hurt. It felt like someone was standing on my chest. From the beginning, I had a very full feeling that would never go away. Ever! It constantly feels like I have just eaten too much at Thanksgiving. I have to watch the clock to know when I need to eat. Liquids go down fine and stay down but like I said, I feel full even before I begin. I HAVE HAD AN EXTREME AMOUNT OF GAS! I HAVE BEEN WALKING AND WALKING AND EVEN SO, I CAN HEAR IT CONTINUE TO RUMBLE AROUND, BUT I CAN'T GET RID OF IT. I have tried Maalox and Gas X strips and I still have a lot of gas. My stomach is still very swollen and the port area is VERY tender. I have been in contact with the Dr's office and they did do an xray when I was still in the hospital and the band is in the right spot. They just keep telling me that although the progress is slow, at least I am feeling a tiny bit better and not worse, and I am not experiencing fever or chills. My post op appointment is Friday and I expect them to do another xray then since this full feeling won't go away. I would really appreciate your prayers BTW, I have had back surgeries, c-section, hernia repair, and a hysterectomy AND THIS IS WORSE THAN ANY OF THOSE!.. I was always back to myself after 2-3 days. I'll end with good news: I've lost 21 lbs since I started pre-op diet!
  3. I got my surgery on October 25th and it has been a rough road. The gas has been really bad. The only way I can explain it is my stomach is in a constant state of upset. Can't tell if it is hunger, full, or just swelling. I can only take about 2 ounces. Today is the first day that I can sit up for any length of time without having to lay back down. Walk, walk, walk. Don't stop taking in liquids. It will get better!
  4. I have my surgery today at 2:00 pm. I have thought of this because I have seen a woman at work have it done and fail. She figured out ways to get around the band and will not go get fills. She doesn't try at all. She drinks carbonated drinks so that has probably stretched her stomach. She eats chips and junk food all the time. She drinks with her meals as well. I know these things are HUGE no nos. I am ready for the changes that I have to make for the lap band to work. Lap-Band is a tool and I am going to use it!:huh2:
  5. This is really good! Here goes! 1. Going to a baby shower and fixing the little plate of stuff and not feel like I'm starving and I can't wait to leave! 2. Not being the fattest woman in my husband's family! 3. Getting some Victoria's Secret underwear! 4. Being proud and not ashamed when I meet my husband's co-workers. 5. Since I'm in college as an older adult, not hearing the "kids" make rude comments about the "old fat chick"!
  6. Surgery on MONDAY!!! I have finally resigned myself to the liquid diet and I don't feel like I am dying. I have lost a few lbs!
  7. Well, I am on day 3 of my pre-op liquid diet. It is going pretty well now that I have found exactly what I can eat. My surgery is scheduled for Monday, October 25th! I am so excited I want to shout it from the rooftop that I am getting banded, but my family doesn't want me to. So being on here will give me that release that I need! I'M FINALLY GETTING THE SURGERY I HAVE LONGED FOR FOR SO LONG!!!!!!
