October 60 Mile Walk Challenge
Tell me about your slipped band. How do you think it happened? Did you have surgery right away or did you wait to see if it would slip back into place? How was recovery for the revision vs the band placement? My band is slipped, and has been for 6 weeks. I go for another follow up appt. Monday to see by fluoroscope if it's slipping back. I think my band slipped from frequent vomiting in the spring/summer when my allergies were awful and my stomach would get gunked/plugged up by post nasal drip, my NP thinks so too. I am (of course!) hoping it'll go back in place w/out surgery. Joan

The Harvest Moon Challenge
My husband says it's very easy to play. He plays by ear and reads tableture? Now that you have a lap, you should make this a new goal for yourself! Maybe your October goal? Maybe for October we should each share something we can now do, or do more comfortably or do without embarrassement since losing some weight? Joan

mucus and coughing at night
Speaking from experience, you are too tight. Have you been vomiting which can irritate your stomach and cause swelling which then makes you too tight and then reflux/cough. Back your diet down to liquids and mushies until you can get a deflate. Also, take something for the acid, prilosec, zantac... My band is slipped and may need to be surgiacally repositioned. All my trouble started with the night reflux/cough. Good luck! Joan

4 weeks pregnant?! How wonderful to spend time with your baby in a swim class, good for you! Joan checking in with a loss of 2.2#, finally! 184.0 I think I am like Larry, I don't lose each week, actually this is my first loss for the month. I lost more than average for me last month so maybe the first couple I weeks I was at a mini plateau? I am doing fairly well with my personal goals: gym has been 2 times a week instead of 3 but I have walked our dogs 1-2 times per day most days; I have been to the movies twice, I am still working on increasing fruits and veggies, this is a challenge for me. Next week is our final weigh in for the month! Let's try to reach some goals! Joan

Food addiction quiz
I took the quiz twice. Pre band answers had me at moderate, post band has me at some concern. It is SO nice to not be as focused on food as I was pre-band! Joan

My band has slipped
Hello, I went in for a band check yesterday, my band is still slipped but doesn't need surgical repositioning at this time. I'll go in for a recheck in 3 more weeks. The doc took another 1cc out so my band is as empty as possible to help it slip back into place. I made an appt. to see an allergist and have allergy testing a week from Wednesday. I am convinced my band slipped due to my horrendous seasonal allergies, post nasal drip... My doc and NP believe so, too. The doc said that only 2% of bands slip, why me, lol! A fellow band friend went with me to the appt. to get a fill. She said I am so small I don't look like I belong there. ; ) I am taking the whole slipped band situation in stride, what else can I do? Joan

Tell me about your slipped band! How do you think it happened? Were you unfilled for a couple months to see if it would slip back into place or was your slip an emergency that required immediate surgery? How was your revision recovery compared to the initial band surgery? As you can see from my post above, my band has slipped. Thanks for any details you can share. I am happy you are doing well!! Joan

The Harvest Moon Challenge
Hey Larry! I am glad you surfaced, I wqas wondering where you were! I don't think you could be any nicer but you can try if you want to, lol. I ate out a lot this weekend while out of town and was able to find lap appropriate foods at each restaurant. Hope everyone is having a great week! Joan

Anyone regret their decision to get banded?
Hang in there, it really does get easier! I blended soups in my blender until they were liquid, sounds gross but was delicious and nutritous! Keep drinking your protein shakes. I was allowed thin cream of wheat which was satisfying. I'd also blend cottage cheese with fruit until it was liquidy. I am thankful for my band and I have had more problems than most. My band has slipped, I am completely deflated and we're hoping it'll slip back into place. I was out of town all weekend. I ate in restaurants a lot of the time as was always able to find something that was yummy and band appropriate. No, I don't eat several pieces of pizza any more, but I can eat a small piece of thin crust pizza or I eat the top off the pizza. I was on the train for lunch today and had a small salad, small bowl of soup and a hard roll. Usually I don't eat bread but the roll was hard and crusty and I was able to eat it comfortably. Yes, I would have preferred the pasta main dish but I REALLY prefer looking and feeling like a different person than I did last summer. Last night for dinner I had a small amount of lean steak, corn on the cob and baked beans. It was delicious and I eat about 1/4 to 1/2 of what I would have preband. Can you call your nutritionist and talk about menu ideas? Joan

acid reflex
Speaking from experience, you need a deflate tomorrow. Have liquids in tiny sips until then. Allergies can make the reflux worse, and your band tighter due to post nasal drip, so if you think you're also having allergies, take your allergy meds, too. Until your deflate, sleep sitting up and take TUMS, and/ or other over the counter acid reducer like pepcid, zantac, prilosec. My band has slipped and is hopefully slipping back into place after being totally deflated. Being too tight is serious and can cause damage. Joan

What is your full feeling?
When I have had enough to eat I don't feel full like pre-band, I feel satisfied, just done eating. Like I don't want and shouldn't eat anymore. Joan
