  1. It's been a minute, but I am doing well. Much better than I thought especially with the holidays. Down 46 lbs. Wooohoo! I have not been sticking to a strict regimen, but eating less and being more active seems to be working. I was at a bit of plateau a month ago, but got a fill back in November and lost about 8 lbs. Decided not to get a fill this time so we will see how it goes, especially when I start to exercise more. Happy Holidays to everyone and I hope we all meet our goals in 2011--Its going to be a great year!

  2. Congrats Michelle!!

I haven't been around the forum much either. Been busy, nothing quite as exciting as your news! What a blessing I will keep you in my prayers.

Here is a quick update from me:

Finally made it to "one"derland and I am staying there. Been back and forth with the scale for 2 weeks now at 200, then I would drop to 199 then go back to 201. Partially due to hormones because of my cycle and making poor food choices. But thankfully, I have made it and not too far from my goal either, which was to be in "one"derland by October 9th. Yeahhh! for me

  3. Thanks for all your encouraging words....yeah still holding firm on that platue!

I won't be able to begin induction until Wed. because that is when I go grocery shopping.

I need to finish up my fat free cottage cheese, etc. I really can't afford to throw food out at this point. Lucky for me there is not that much left.

I'm hoping some of you will join me on the low carb band wagon while we are ALL in this stupid phase. Seems like all of us are struggling right now from hunger or weight loss stalls.

My boyfriend just laughs at me and says "poor baby"! Then says but 25 pounds is alot! I say I'm ready to throw a temper tantrum and kick my feet and hold my breath blah blah blah.

In Sept. of next year there will be this huge reunion for the elementary school that I went to in the tiny town where I grew up.

Anyone and everyone who attended this school will be there, and I want to look fantastic! Call me vain, I don't care. I wan't to look fit and healthy. I want to look maaavuuuulus daaahhlliinng!

Anyway, I just think that the low carb way will really make the weight roll off ( just like it did before) for me.

If anyone wants to join me, I think it would be a great support network, just like this forum already has been.

@ Kelly: Sounds great! Count me in on the low carb. The focus is on high Protein anyway, which the PA reminded me of at my first fill. Hadn't been around for a while. I teach Kinder and for the first few weeks of school, I had 25 Kindergarteners in my class and no aide! For all you teachers out there, you know it was a rough first few weeks back. They finally levelled the classes so now I am down to 21, would have preferred 18 but can't complain!

Just had my first fill on 9/17. I was having some stomach pain at night. Did an xray and the band was fine. I got a small fill and will be returning on 10/4 to see if everything is ok and if I still have pains. Also, I can receive a fill on that day. We are able to go in for fills every 3 weeks for the first four months and then it is up to you after that. You don't have to get a fill every appt, but it is nice to know you have the option and can talk to someone if you have issues. Doc encouraged me to watch fibrous foods (broccoli stalks, asparagus) I am thinking those are veggies that lessens what I am able to eat even more! However, I am down 26 lbs including my pre-op diet. 18 lbs since surgery so I am very happy! Looking forward to updating and losing with you all on our low carb challenge!

  4. Not 2 bad today. But by the time I got home I was ready for the pain meds. Sounds like noone else is having pain in the port area except me, and on top of that gas pains!:) I know it will be all worth it when I get to my goal! I start pureed food on Sunday--looking forward to it. Tomorrow is a work day in our class and I have help. Plus I was able to get a lot done before the surgery. So I will be in my class mainly doing paperwork and my sis-in-law will help me with the heavier stuff. Sounds like everyone is doing well and I am thankful to be on the other side!:smile2:

  5. Didnt make it on the 16th, was having a lot of pain in the incision area. Took meds around 3 am to help with pain and that made me really drowsy and loopy. I did make it today, everyone kept saying I looked sick or tired. Had to lay down in nurses station cuz I was feeling winded. Guess everybody is different! Hopefully tomorrow will be better!:(

  6. Officially in bandland!

I am just now feeling a little like myself. My surgery was supposed to be at 12:15 did not go in till 1:15. Was done about 2 and on my way home at 4. Still feeling a little groggy, surprised how little I am taking in. Maybe 1 Protein shake for the whole day. I start off with 1/3 and then have more around lunch and the rest for dinner. I have the Protein bullet which I drink with Water, trying to get in as much protein as I can. Gas pain is really annoying and still sore around the port area. The walking does help but then I get real tired and go back to sleep. Praying that I will be up for work tomorrow.:) We don't have to get there till 11:30 so I may be ok. Good luck to everyone! This is a repost from another thread

  8. Thankfully my room is done, at least the big stuff and decorating! Went in to see the surgeon today-Dr. Marsden--really down-to-earth and matter of fact. Really put me at ease! He said I could have a "last supper". Not sure what I want, not really craving anything, that's a good start, huh? His main instruction was nothing after midnight, not even Clear liquids.

    Michelle, One More Day! Woohoo!

  9. Steady. Temptations, temptations. Like today I was fixing my kids their spaghetti and I had a taste. But I did stop there and went and ate my tuna on salad which was pretty tasty. :tongue2: I felt even more motivated to do better when my rep from True Results called me to check on me and see how everything was going. She also confirmed my preop appt with doc and surgery date for the 13th. Almost like divine intervention to keep me focused. LOL! How is everything with you?

  10. Yes Michelle,

Would love to keep in touch with you and follow you on your journey. My daughter's middle name is Michelle and one of my close friends is Michelle. Plus we are both teachers and getting banded on the 13th through True Results! Awesome connection!

  11. Thanks for the input. Sorry I am just now responding to your post. Still trying to figure out how these threads work. Feels like I am all over the place. :cool2: Anyways just found out my tentative surgery date is set for August 13th. I was approved on July 28th. I will keep you posted, thanks again, you helped with my anxiety.:blushing:

  12. Hey Michelle and Wild Bill,

Having my surgery on the 13th as well. And inservice starting the 16th. From what I hear it should not be a problem returning to work.. I am in the process of setting up my class so that I will have less to do when we officially start. Good luck to both of you!

And yes Protein shakes and meat and veggies do suck.. lol

  13. As far as appearing dishonest, not really worried about that. It really is my business and all people need to know is that I am losing weight and getting healthy. Being pre-diabetic with high cholestrol is no laughing matter. This is how I choose to take control of my health issues. What a lot of people don't realize is that you still have to commit to a healthy lifestyle and this was a very informed decision for me.
