back to work too soon?
Not 2 bad today. But by the time I got home I was ready for the pain meds. Sounds like noone else is having pain in the port area except me, and on top of that gas pains! I know it will be all worth it when I get to my goal! I start pureed food on Sunday--looking forward to it. Tomorrow is a work day in our class and I have help. Plus I was able to get a lot done before the surgery. So I will be in my class mainly doing paperwork and my sis-in-law will help me with the heavier stuff. Sounds like everyone is doing well and I am thankful to be on the other side!:smile2:

back to work too soon?
Didnt make it on the 16th, was having a lot of pain in the incision area. Took meds around 3 am to help with pain and that made me really drowsy and loopy. I did make it today, everyone kept saying I looked sick or tired. Had to lay down in nurses station cuz I was feeling winded. Guess everybody is different! Hopefully tomorrow will be better!

back to work too soon?
Michelle, I am just now feeling a little like myself. My surgery was supposed to be at 12:15 did not go in till 1:15. Was done about 2 and on my way home at 4. Still feeling a little groggy, surprised how little I am taking in. Maybe 1 protein shake for the whole day. I start off with 1/3 and then have more around lunch and the rest for dinner. I have the protein bullet which I drink with water, trying to get in as much protein as I can. Gas pain is really annoying and still sore around the port area. The walking does help but then I get real tired and go back to sleep. Praying that I will be up for work tomorrow. We don't have to get there till 11:30 so I may be ok. Good luck!

back to work too soon?
Thankfully my room is done, at least the big stuff and decorating! Went in to see the surgeon today-Dr. Marsden--really down-to-earth and matter of fact. Really put me at ease! He said I could have a "last supper". Not sure what I want, not really craving anything, that's a good start, huh? His main instruction was nothing after midnight, not even Clear liquids. Michelle, One More Day! Woohoo!

back to work too soon?
Steady. Temptations, temptations. Like today I was fixing my kids their spaghetti and I had a taste. But I did stop there and went and ate my tuna on salad which was pretty tasty. :tongue2: I felt even more motivated to do better when my rep from True Results called me to check on me and see how everything was going. She also confirmed my preop appt with doc and surgery date for the 13th. Almost like divine intervention to keep me focused. LOL! How is everything with you?

1st day of Pre-Op Diet!!!
Started mine yesterday. Was feeling a little lightheaded yesterday I am also doing low carb/ high protein. Not doing too bad today, not as hungry in between meals. I did eat some health food chips though when I got home. Tonight I am eating tuna with salad and maybe two slices of WASA bread. (They are only 20 calories/ slice)

Any August 2010 Bandsters?
As far as appearing dishonest, not really worried about that. It really is my business and all people need to know is that I am losing weight and getting healthy. Being pre-diabetic with high cholestrol is no laughing matter. This is how I choose to take control of my health issues. What a lot of people don't realize is that you still have to commit to a healthy lifestyle and this was a very informed decision for me.

Any August 2010 Bandsters?
Hey yall, Finally got my surgery date -August 13th. :w00t: I was on pins and needles the last coupla weeks. Ended up calling my insurance to see what the hold up was. They told me that I was approved on the 28th. Starting my pre-op diet on Monday- Atkins type diet. 2 shakes and 2 high Protein, veggies, low-0 carb meals. So glad that it is finally starting. I'm a teacher and I wanted to make sure I got this done before the kiddos came back on the 23rd. Going to be setting up my class before surgery. I have a very close friend on my team-- I'm a kinder teacher, so she knows. I am also going to tell my principal that I am having surgery. She seems to hold secrets very well. Just want to make sure that everything is going well. Already know of two coworkers that had negative things to say about people who have bariatric surgery. Needless to say, they won't be on my list for sharing my news. :rolleyes2: Good luck to everyone on their journey. Looking forward to sharing successes and any other info with you all. This forum was one of the main reasons why I decided to go this route. :w00t:

BCBS Blue Advantage HMO
Hey, I have Blue Cross PPO. I went to an AIGB clinic where I was preapproved and had to follow up with them for 3 months before I was approved for surgery. I think with HMO, your primary care physician would have to refer you. With PPO you can choose your doctor and start the process yourself as I did. Best thing to do is to call your insurance and figure our what the best route is and whether you are covered. Good luck!

Very sad at the moment...
So sorry for your loss. I am sure your sister would want you to stay on your journey to becoming healthy.

New lap bander
I recently completed my preevaluation for the lap band. I was preapproved based on my BMI being 45. Yikes! Anyway I am just waiting on what my insurance says. My last appt was on July 13th. I went through True Results in Richardson and they informed me who my surgeon would be. His name is Dr. John Marsden and I read up on him. He seems to have a lot of expertise with the lapband and I have seen good reviews on him so far. If anyone has been banded by Dr. Marsden, please share your experience with me. I am excited about the lap band and decided to go this route after many failed attempts at dieting, exercise. I think you get to a point where you realize that you can't do it on your own and sometimes you just need a starting point. That's what I see the lap band as a starting tool for me really get healthly, look good and feel better about myself overall. I will keep you all posted on my journey.
