  1. I didn't have one either....was told to cough every hour to help keep the lungs clear. Not sure I did that either!

    Overfilled??

I have issues with some fruits & veg, as well as certain proteins. Try having your bites of protein the size of a pencil eraser. Take a break of a minute between bites. But if you're still having problems I would go back. Next fill, don't leave the office without being able to drink water without a problem. I've had to go back in to see the nurse because I was having issues drinking the water right after a fill (and had to take out half the fill right away).

    Straws????

Don't worry...it's not that bad. Just that you tend to suck more air with a straw, as well as taking larger sips. I use straws with my protein shakes to be honest (I find they have a funny smell) and I haven't had a problem, personally.

    Watermelon?

I didn't try while on the mushy food stage....I guess if you blended or smushed it you could try. I love watermelon as it is a great fruit without a skin!

    Craving???????

As long as you're on your full solids, you can eat salad. Just be careful with different veggies; you may have issues with some of the skins. Just take it slow until you find out what you can tolerate!
  6. Ah chicken....I miss you most days. I often go for the dark meat now as it's more moist.
  7. This is the most crucial time to follow your doctor's orders as you're just healing and I'm sure you're on a liquid diet. It's probably gas; get up and walk around a little (it does help). YOu could try Gas-X strips also (they just dissolve on your tongue).
  8. I have issues with eggs since banding; they're not the easiest for me to digest. I would wait a bit longer before trying them again. As to the "stuck throat" feeling, I'm sorry I can't help there!
  9. Why would you be a mess? You're going to be fabulous! And as mentioned, if you do get your period, your lovely pain meds will certainly help you with those cramps! Good luck!
  10. I would say if you need to eat something, have a little lean protein. It will stay with you longer than the cracker.

What Am I Doing Wrong? Please Help!

Mis73 - I was told bites of protein should be the size of a pencil eraser (or fingernail!)!

    280+ Lb Bulimic.

Didn't say or think I did. You've undoubtedly told your story many times. I do sympathize with what you've gone through, my band journey hasn't been the easiest either. But negativity doesn't really help anyone. You should focus on the positive stuff you've got going on now and leave the negativity in the past; we will thank you for it.

Then why are you still posting here? This is supposed to be a supportive forum, if you have gotten rid of your band and just want to cause problems you should go to your sleeve forum.

    Problems With Phlegm

To me that sounds like slime....from getting mildly stuck. The first couple of times it happened to me, when I coughed a big blob of stuff came up. Sooo gross! It sounds almost like you have a cough from being sick. I do have allergies also and haven't quite figured out if they contribute to band tightness or not. When I take an allergy med it doesn't really seem to help with the slime (but I can breathe better through my nose, which does help at times). Can you take a Reactine or something daily for now while it's bad allergy season?

How Did You Feel After Surgery

Remembering back, that day I was pretty out of it. My surgery was first thing in the morning and I was home by noon. I slept most of the afternoon, up around dinner time. Of course I couldn't eat, and had some pain from the surgery. But I didn't have an important event to go to either....for something like that I probably would have made it through! (fyi if that's anything like a graduation it will be much longer than an hour!). Hope you can coordinate everything!

What Am I Doing Wrong? Please Help!

You just could be one of the people who need .5 cc or less per fill. I hope you find some relief. Stick to liquids for a day or two, and as mentioned warm liquids help "prime" the band a bit (just relax it).

    Had Wine Tonight..

To the OP - please, girl, don't stress about that! We need to live in a way we can sustain for the rest of our lives. If that means having some wine now and then, so be it! You just need to account for the calories and drink some extra water that day. Life is for living!!

Ohh Noo Not The Boobies !!!

Lol.....it's too bad we can't control where the pounds come off! You might need a couple of new bras!

    Tierd After A Fill

Being tired doesn't necessarily relate to having a fill. As mentioned if you're on liquids for a day, you're probably not getting enough nutrition so it could be part of it. Wait until you get back to your normal eating and don't stress. Watch the tightness; if you can't get your solids down you could be too tight. Good luck!

    Anyone In The Gta

Hey there! I was banded at Slimband in August 2010. I live in the Kitchener area currently and get my fills done there when I need them. PM me if you have any questions!
  21. I would think staying out of the water would depend on how your incisions are healing; I would check with your doc about that. I do find it more challenging eating out but you can do it if you plan ahead, and I would bring some snacks that travel well so you don't always have to eat fast food.
  22. I would suggest taking at least a few days off of work. Most people generally need a week to recuperate. The number of fills all depends on the person; each person is different. I think also it depends on your doctor if you are outpatient or have to stay over a night. I was self pay, so I didn't have to worry about insurance. There are a lot of posts about insurance and waiting and what one has to do. Do a search and you may find someone with your insurance who can help you better. The way of eating you're to follow is protein, veg then carbs, and no more than half to one cup per meal (depends on your doctor; also if you should have snacks or not). I think the above poster means protein shakes; often your insurance/doctor will make you do a pre-op liquid diet beforehand (maybe check with your insurance to see; some people have to do a 6 month supervised diet I've read). Hope this helps!

    Eating After Banding

Yes, you can (so I've been told). However, as with any weight loss plan you have to eat the right foods. Protein first, then veg, then some carbs is the "right way". But I find, as with life, sometimes things don't work out that way. Going out to eat, for example. And I have found certain things for me just don't work, like deep fried foods (bye bye calamari!) and doughy breads. The band is just a tool and we have to work it properly!

    8.5Cc's

I have a 10cc band, with 5 ccs in it. Some days that seems like not enough; other days (like today) it seems like too much!

    Fluids In And Fluids Out

Yep, I have. No issues. They make chewable ones now so I would stick with those if you have issues with pills.
