  1. Hm. You probably don't need to hear from me then. But I will respond.....I get stuck a LOT. I was just stuck previous to coming on here about 10 minutes ago (thankfully it has passed, and you can definitely feel it has passed). I kind of consider myself a pro at it now (not something to be proud of I'm sure.....) I felt the same way; it was the major issue before having the surgery. It sounded horrible. And the first time I got stuck I felt like I was dying (mostly I think because I had never been before, and was so nervous). I couldn't get it up for a bit (I think it was toast and tomato) and I was in such pain. Above, I do NOT take any Water if I'm stuck, because it's just piling on top of a stuck pile. I do find the papaya enzyme pills help (in the Vitamin section); they are chewables and taste sweet. They helped me a lot when I was first banded, and I do carry some everywhere with me now. HOWEVER - don't let it scare you too much. As you said, yes it is because I often still eat too fast/too big bites after 1.5 years. And now it is nothing, just lean over the sink and cough. The pros of the surgery outweigh this con, I think!

    LAUGHING COW RECIPES

I think I actually think about food more. I dunno, maybe years of dealing with food and issues regarding it. I would love to be in a place where I didn't really care about it, but don't know if that would happen without therapy!

    LAUGHING COW RECIPES

You said it! These are some good recipes. I just found the LC French Onion....very mild. I like the herb and garlic on some crispy baguette crackers.

    Vegetables And Fruit

I agree, I love avocados and don't mind the healthy fats!
  5. If it was as bad as you say that night, you probably really irritated your band and even thick liquids could cause issues. But as mentioned, if still having issues after the weekend, see your doctor

    Vegetables And Fruit

Yes it was in the information I received after. Also it said about the asparagus. My only guess is the texture. Asparagus and onions can be stringy....not sure about avocado except maybe it gets stuck easier? Thinking on this, they recommend dogs don't eat these things either...lol
  7. I also have to only have liquids before noon. And I'm also flying next month and am fairly tight after my last fill. I've been wondering the same thing....
  8. You are cute, that statement makes me laugh (about not knowing what you're doing)! Just wanted to say congratulations! You obviously do know what to do and it's working!!

    Spanx Causing Pain?

Do they have adjustable straps? Maybe try loosening the strap on that side?

    Just Had Surgery 2/17/12

Good for you!!! Take it easy the next while and let your body heal. Don't worry too much about losing weight; that will come after you've healed. Welcome to the "cool kids club!"

    Fish Oil Capsules

I stopped taking all large pills that size. Especially after my last fill, I know I would get stuck. I can really only take something the size of a vitamin D pill (really small ones). I got stuck the other day on regular Motrins. I feel like I need to start taking calcium, so I'm going to get the chewables.

    Vegetables And Fruit

Oh, asparagus was another I wasn't supposed to eat (but have). The one I cannot eat is bean sprouts, no matter what they are in. I guess it's the shape or texture....I always get really stuck when I eat them.

    Vegetables And Fruit

I think you can eat most fruits and vegetables. I was told not to eat onions, avocado and a couple others. But I have trouble with fruits and veg, so don't eat enough. I think I will have to start making smoothies or something to get them in!
  14. You aren't lying if you just say "Thank you!" when someone says you look good, or you look like you've lost weight. Now, if they ask HOW you've lost weight, you may consider telling them, but you can also say you lost weight by eating right, smaller portions and exercising which is ALSO true. For me, it would depend on who the person is and if I want them to know about the surgery. If I'm starting to feel good about myself, I don't want someone else's judgment of weight loss surgery bringing me down.

I Get Angry At Skinny Banders!

Don't get too upset with her, she said she knows it's stupid and wrong, what she's thinking. I have thought about this many times. I think it is harder when you have less to lose, because it usually comes off slower and can be more challenging. I'm so mad at myself that I let myself get up to 263 before being banded...when I get under that 200 lb mark, you're all gonna hear about it!

Band Vs. Sleeve - Really Upset...

    I'm 5'10" also.....if I can get to 170, 175, I will be ecstatic!

    Disheartened

Unfortunately I feel this way, and this is what happened to me. The best people there are the fill nurses. They are really nice and answer any questions you have. I have never spoken with a dietician or psychologist though, and they say they have them on staff. I guess they are options you have to request (but should be included in the price).

    Losing Weight And Cellulite....

Right now I'm drinking Premier Protein ready made shakes (get them at Costco). They are chocolate and taste pretty good! Also low sugar/carb & 30gms of protein. I had a fill last week and I'm pretty tight, so I need liquids in the mornings.

    Confused :(

It would be hard....most of us have been in a weight loss mentality for so long, the thought of actually TRYING to gain weight would be terrifying (and is to me!).

    Disheartened

Oh, Serenity....I'm with Slimband too. And while I"m fairly happy with the band, I usually wish I'd had it done somewhere else. I have NEVER spoken with a dietician. Wouldn't even know how to reach one. I'm pretty unhappy with their customer service and practices (can you believe NO ONE called me after my surgery to even see if I was alive?). But maybe if you call the 1-800 number and tell them you need to speak to one you'll be able to get some advice about what you need to be eating. PM me if you want to talk about this stuff!

    This! Good advice.

    Losing Weight And Cellulite....

I have cellulite, especially on the front of my thighs (lovely). It should lessen as you lose weight, but also if you can build muscle in that area, that helps too. Unfortunately there is really no way to get rid of it completely. Try different exercises with weights for your legs. Lots of water too!

Do You Sometimes Feel Like A Fraud?

You would only be a fraud if you actually didn't get banded but tell everyone you were! Believe me, even with fills you are still doing most of the work. This isn't an easy fix at all. You still must work, eat right and exercise. Be proud of your decision!
