WHAT!!!! There is no stopping you now Ms. Thing. Must do a dance for you too!
-
Thanks Curves:smile2: I can't wait for you to be on this train ride either. It's a great feeling of accomplishment.
-
Yettia, Um I can see why he is so insecure. You. Are. HOT! You're going to be on fiyah after WLS. But in this situation you have to do what's best for you. Good luck!
-
A Lot Less, Wow at least now you know your sister is the last one to tell your personal business to. It sucks when family can't keep their mouth shut As for your husband, sometimes there are no amount of words that can ease a person's insecurity. You'll just have to show him you're not going anywhere.

Yep that was back at the age of 18. I was about 125-130 in that pic. *sigh* those were the good ole days.
-
Congratulations Southerngirl! It can only get better from here.

HA!HA! (think bully on simpsons). Your husbands a smart man to know he has to get his game on too.

I am so happy for you Curves. You were worried for nothing. There is nothing like a good man at your side.
Personally, I just came out and told my husband. I had gone to see my PCP that day. I had told him that I was sick of being fat and read about getting the lap band. I expected him to discourage me but he was all for it and recommended the group that I had my surgery with. As soon as I got home I told my husband about my discussion with my doctor and said that if the insurance approved I would be doing it. Generally I discuss things like this beforehand but I just didn't want him shooting the idea down. Once I told him about it he knew there would be no amount of talking that would get me to change my mind (if he wanted to). So while he said he wished I had tried harder on my own (he just doesn't get it) he would be there for me and has been. I love that man
April - my situation is the same as yours. My husband met me when I was hot to trot and I'm sure he is waiting with bated breath for me to get back - or close to - the size he met me at.
Tammy - that's pretty cool that your husband is getting banded too.

Thanks everyone.
Enigma and Jemo I see what you mean about the gas - oh...my...goodness. i literally thank God everytime the gas is released.
janet - i can't wait for that day. i'm actually getting a digital camera so i can take pictures of my journey. i will be sharing them eventually.

Yes! I finally get to participate in this thread. I posted it in another thread but here's my story:
I got to the hospital at 8 am yesterday and was sent into the preop room as soon as I finished some paperwork. From there on I met with the department nurse and OR nurse, 2 anesthesiologists and my surgeon. Everyone was great. I was supposed to go into surgery around 9 according to my surgeon but she got an emergency case so i ended up going after 12 pm. the only thing i remember was the anesthesiologists giving me that pre anesthesia numbing agent and then inserting the anesthesia iv after that. when i woke up i was in the pacu (recovery). i was awake in there for about (im guessing) before i was transferred to a room. i would say i was a great patient. i got up and walked almost immediately and made it a point to walk around the floor every hour. i was able to leave the hospital a little after 10pm. all in all it was a very positive experience.

Congratulations!!! I am doing a couple of dance moves with you.:cool2:

It can only get better from here. I had to give in and take a pain medication and am feeling pretty good right now. Hi ladies,
I did it! I'm a little sore and very gassy but otherwise doing well. I will discuss my experience a little later hopefully. I'm just a little tired right now. YAY ME!
-
Im scare of y'all. You're going to be some hot mommas. Angel, I've never heard of those two websites - i'll have to check them out.
-
Hey ladies,
I have been a fool lately going into various stores and looking at all the cute little outfits that I will be able to wear soon hopefully. I've been haunting Filene's basement, T.J. Maxx, Macy's and NY & Co to name a few. What stores are you looking forward to?
-
Woot woot!! Congratulations!
April, "sacred time"? youre too much.:biggrin2:
-
Jemo - that makes it even more impressive.
Enigma - thanks for the info. may i ask what your diet has been like since surgery?
-
Everything. I used to be an avid exerciser in my teens and early 20's. I want to be like that again. I also hide from the world because I feel unacceptable and can relate to not wanting to see people from my past who knew me when I was in shape. one time i was at a laundry and saw a chick - she was no lady - that lived in my building years ago. she said "man! you got fat!" I was so dumbfounded i didn't know what to say. when i was small i was fairly attractive (not being conceited) and i think some people relish when you're attractive and get fat so they could make these types of comments.
-
Tomorrow is by band day too!!! like everyone else said i am not going to worry about the hair loss issue too much - it'll grow back.
Jemo! Wow 32 pounds is great. Was that after the surgery or did that include the preop diet?
-
Thanks for sharing your experience Lady! I'm having my surgery on Tuesday. I can't wait. This is the first weekend I have wished would fly by.
-
I have to say I LOVE Dr. Kurian!!! She is the BEST!! The staff on the other hand.... at least that's been my experience there. I'm thrilled that you had such a great experience and are going in so quickly. Congrats!!!I somewhat understand what you're seeing Eeyore (cute screenname btw). In my experience since this visit they have been somewhat schizophrenic. You know how it is when they need info from you they are super sweet but when you call for info their impatient and kind of rude. I just let it roll over my shoulder.

Hi Lady!
I haven't been banded yet either. But was June 17 the day you got banded? If so, how has it been so far, what was your experience in hospital, is there any advice you can give us prebies?
Welcome!!!
