  1. Congratulations, and good for your doctor. I am also a slow loser (I have averaged just over a pound a week since my surgery over a year and a half ago). Like your doctor, I think slower is better because you are making sustainable lifestyle changes. You can ABSOLUTELY lose that last 30! ~Lori
  2. Thanks all! I have been exercising 4 days a week, and have been planning to pick it up a notch (5-6 days a week). Karey, I'll use your advice as extra motivation to make it to the gym. That and I am only 3.5 pounds away from Onederland!!! In my entire adult life I haven't been below 200 lbs... I'm SO excited. ~Lori
  3. So, my surgery will be Nov.20th... I'm having an extended anchor tummytuck and a breast lift. YIKES!
  4. Hi Karey! I'm sorry to hear about your band and I hope you're doing better! If there's anything I can do just let me know... I did like Dr. Chick and he would have done a full lowerbodylift for me. However, he didn't think I needed the vertical incision on the tummy tuck and I was afraid I wouldn't have the right shape without it. Also, I liked that Dr. Saltz was so upfront about why he was limiting what we should do at first. It's hard being told I can't have everything all at once, but in the end it's probably better. ~Lori

Onederland has a new citizen!!! :)

Congratulations! I am right behind you and CANNOT wait to be back there! YOU ROCK!
  6. So, I've been meeting with plastic surgeons and I think I found the one I am going to go with - Dr. Saltz in SLC. He's a little more expensive than some of the other's I met with, by I like that he was really straightforward with me. So, at the end of November I will be having an extended anchor tummy tuck (with the vertical scar) and a breast lift. I am really excited!!! ~Lori

    Need motivation

Thanks everyone for the nice comments :smile2: - and I LOVE the idea of buying something a size smaller. I think I need to go out and buy something cute that doesn't quite fit ::redface: For those of you just starting, the lapband is a wonder. It doesn't do everything for you - you need to focus on healthy eating and exercising - but it makes a world of difference. It is the best tool I've ever found and I know you can do it!!! ~Lori

    Choking during sleep! Need advice!

Hey - I had the EXACT same issue a couple of weeks ago. It turns out I was overfiled. I had a very slight unfil and am 100% better. Maybe see your doctor and have .2cc's removed -it worked for me! ~Lori
  9. I've always wanted to go skydiving, but have been over the permissable weight since I've been old enough. Well, I turned 30 on Saturday and for my birthday I went skydiving! It was amazing! Now I just need to figure out how to convince my head that I am at a more normal weight. When they had me step on the scale I was convinced it would read out heavier than I am. Then, when I went to put on the jump suit I really didn't think it would fit... But it all did and I had a BLAST (and survived ) Anyway - just had to share! ~Lori

To unfill or not to unfill...WWYD?

Absolutely unfill! If you can't eat 1000 or more calories of nutritious food per day then it isn't healthy. I actually just got a slight unfill because I was coughing/choking at night and I feel so much better. I didn't realize how hard I was fighting just to get my Water down... I do have to use a little more will power to eat less at night when I'm losest - but if you're already eating ice cream it will be better for you! ~Lori

    NSV - I went Skydiving

Thanks all! It was totally awesome - and yes I did get video. Before I went I always said I just want to do it once --- now I really want to go just one more time As for the weigh in - I knew they were going to do it and that the limit was 220 (absolute limit - 221 and you could not jump) so it was good motivation for me to work harder than ever to get in shape and it was a blast! For those of you thinking of going, even if you are afraid of heights - do it! There's nothing like it! ~Lori

    PB liquids at night?

Does anyone else have an issue with PBing liquids at night? I'm about 18 months out from surgery, and am filled to 2.9. I'm losing on average 1.5 lbs per week, and generally feel I have good restriction. I can eat pretty much anything as long as I chew well (including bread), I'm just limited to how much I can eat. However, I am having an issue where I wake up coughing/choking at night and if I PB a lot of liquid comes out (whatever I drank last at night). After that, I'm fine. I've stopped eating or drinking anything after 8:00 at night - but am wondering if anyone else has this issue or any recommendations? ~Lori

    PB liquids at night?

Hi all! I just wanted to thank everyone for their input. I've scheduled an appointment with my doctor for an unfill under Floro on Monday. HOpefully this is just an overfill issue not a slip. Again - thank you for sharing your experiences!!!! ~Lori
  14. Thanks Laura! That's a great list - lot's of things I never would have thought of. Anyone else have suggestions?

    Ask Dr. Schulman...

Hi Dr. I am interested in having several procedures, and am wondering about how many surgeries will be required, and how long I should wait between each. I am looking at: Tummy Tuck Thing lift (probably inner and outer, but definately inner) Butt lift Breast lift (I'm currently a DDD, and want to be a D, so maybe reduction) Armplasty I appreciate any advice you can give! ~Lori
  16. So, I've lost a little over 100 lbs, and have about 45 lbs to go before I am ready for plastic surgery (my goal is November). If nothing drastic changes, I am looking at: Arm Lift Breast lift (maybe reduction) Tummy tuck Thigh lift (inner and outer) Is this all part of a total body lift? IF not, any insight from the veterans here on how many surgeries this will require? I appreciate your thoughts, Lori

Karey - you look AWESOME! I am so impressed with your results. I've got the same roll above my belly button that you had before your surgery, and I CANNOT wait until I'm ready for surgery. 35 lbs until I start meeting with surgeons. ~Lori

Fellow bandster needs help in SLC, UT!!

Is there something I can help with.
  25. Hi all, I am wondering if any of you have any recommendations for plastic surgeons in Utah. I am down 90 lbs and while I still have a ways to go, am starting to look ahead to dreams of a flat stomach. I think I'll start setting up appointments etc... in about another 40 lbs, but would like to start researching doctors now. I would appreciate any names you can provide, as I would prefer to work with someone who comes with a recommendation if at all possible. Thanks! Lori
