October sleevers?

I'm so excited to join you all on the losers bench. Any October sleevers go through revision from band? I'm wondering if the recovery is any different?? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Maybe we can be walking the halls together!
  3. I wish that I had a crystal ball six years ago when I made the decision to have the LapBand placed. I wish that I had known that I would spend thousands of dollars on fills and unfills because of the narrow range I could tolerate. I wish I had known that I would spend years chasing the elusive "green zone" that could change at the drop of a hat. I wish I had known that TOM, salt, even air pressure changes could impact how tight the band felt. I wish that I had known that my esophagus could eventually become "tired" from the effort it took to get food through the band. There are many more I could add, but I won't. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to revision to VSG in less than two weeks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm being revised from band on October 18th at Troy by Krause. He did my LapBand at Royal Oak. Troy is so much closer to home so I was happy to have the VSG scheduled there. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pessimistic Psychologist

She's not a surgeon right? Listen to them, not her. I had a similar experience with my primary care doctor telling me that I should use her new Protein shake program instead of having revision surgery. She doesn't know what she's talking about so I chose to not listen. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Insurance..

@noeysmom- I am a revision from Lapband too due to band failure. My esophagus has slowed down and food is sitting in my throat. I had my first official doctors appointment in early August and I was approved on Monday for an October 18th surgery date. If you are having issues with the band, (at my practice )they move you along pretty quick. Not sure if that helps, but I definitely did not have to go through the whole routine that I did on my initial surgery Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Finally!

I got my surgery date today-I'm having revision from LapBand to VSG on October 18th. I'm thinking that by Thanksgiving, I'll be able to eat at least a little bit:)

    Any October 2016 Sleevers?

October 18th for me! Looking forward to getting the band out and moving on to VSG. Didn't have time for any food funerals-surgery is two weeks from tomorrow and I have to start my pre-op diet in the morning.

    October sleevers?

I'm in Michigan and got my tentative date today. Looks like I'm joining you! Start my pre-op diet tomorrow and under the knife on the 18th. I'm a little nervous because even though I hoped for that date, I hadn't really believed that it would happen. I had to run out and buy shakes for the pre-op plan on my way home today. Lots to do in the next two weeks, that's for sure.
  10. I sell chicken for a living so yes, I can relate. Most of what I sell is breaded, deep fried bits of yumminess so I'm expecting it to be a bit challenging. I have a lapband currently but will be revising to VSG as soon as approved. The toughest part for me is when I participate in trade shows but I've been doing it for over six years with the band.

Age, menopausal and under active thyroid

I'm looking forward to joining you on the loosing side too! I am 53, also have hypothyroidism/Hashimoto's and had a full hysterectomy in December of 2014. I'm revising from LapBand to VSG-just waiting on insurance approval/surgery date. I'm hoping that VSG will finally give me the opportunity to get to a healthy weight. I was down to 200 and stayed there for almost three years with the LapBand, but since I started experiencing swallowing issues, my weight has increased back to 235. I'm okay with losing slower, I just want to lose. I have an entire wardrobe of smaller sizes that I can't wear anymore and I really liked the way I felt and could move, etc. You know, they say 50 is the new 30:)

    Need some feedback

My band was placed in July 2010 and now I'm in the process of revising to VSG. I wish you all the luck in the world in your process. I had limited success with the band and am looking forward to being able to swallow food without getting pressure in the back of my throat.

    Lap band port pain

I'm also going through the hoops to get revised to a sleeve. I've been having issues with my band since last year and started the process a few months ago. I've had all of my meetings, but am waiting for the weight center to send approval to the surgeon. I'm getting tired of waiting. In the meantime, I've been having pain and pressure when I swallow. Need this stupid thing out!
  14. I had the same experience with my LapBand. If you have a fruit infusing Water bottle, use some fresh or frozen fruit to flavor the water. I use frozen Triple berry (you would probably need to strain the fruit since you just had surgery) and lemon or lime slices. I had to stop using Crystal Light because it made me crave even sweeter things.

    I'm pissed!

A 26 mile walk is worth a huge celebration! Great job-I'm sure I couldn't handle that. Ignore the stupid marathon runner-she obviously can't appreciate what you accomplished!
  16. When I started the process to get approval for my lapband surgery in 2010, I had three children aged 19, 15 and 9. I told them in my pre-op that I wanted to be able to keep up with my youngest child-a very high energy young man. I'm in the process of revising to sleeve and yes, I'm doing this keeping my kids in mind. I want to be around long enough to see my children grow up (now 25, 21 and 15), finish schooling, get married, have kids, etc. I don't want my weight issues to burden them in the long haul.

Oops sorry about that. I was trying to comment on the post and learned that it's tough to comment on the ipad.

I couldn't resist adding to your commentary on Rachel. I was banded by Dr. Krause (who I love!) in 2010 and am in the process of revising to sleeve. She is the only one who I've come across in the Beaumont system that hasn't treated me with respect and dignity. I'm almost 53 and resent being treated like an idiot. Oh well, at least with the sleeve I won't have to see her as often as with the band!

That being said, I wouldn't go anywhere else because Krause is so good.

I'm hoping for an October date, but waiting on sleep study results.

Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Psych eval

I'm in the process of getting revision from Lapband to VSG and I get my psych evaluation on Monday. It's almost the last hurdle for me to move ahead. So ready to make this happen!

    Long-term fills?

I'm a long timer -was banded July 2010, and yes, I still get fills. As a matter of fact, I had one two weeks ago and am experiencing my first "sweet spot" in years. You and I are in the same situation-I cannot tolerate a too tight band. I am usually around 4.2-4.5 max in a 10cc band. I got a fill for the same reasons you mention. I was hungry quicker and could eat more at a meal. Best of luck with your appointment!

    Biggest loser

Sorry, but I'm not a fan...I think it's sets up a very unrealistic expectation for the "real" world of weight loss. How many people can put their entire life on hold while they go to a camp and workout nine hours a day? Also, someone mentioned that they don't show the long term success of their visitors. Hmmm, wonder why? I'd rather lose slowly and in a way that I can sustain the weight loss than lose 38 pounds in a week. Just my ever so humble personal opinion...

    Scrapbooking

I am a scrapbooker and I started a "My Journey" scrapbook right after my surgery. I have a before and during pictures and its been pretty amazing to see how much I've changed with a weight loss of 72 pounds... I kept the pair of pants from my before picture and I still put them on occasionally to really see the difference! I also take an anniversary picture- I'm over three years out.
  24. Me too. My blood pressure before surgery was high enough to require meds. At my last visit- They re-took it because the nurse thought she wrote it down wrong-it was 110/57! Also, pre- surgery my A1C was 6.4, last check was 5. I was THRILLED to get off metformin. The side effects were awful..
