What Is Your Beverage of Choice?

Just like @@Sai, I am not a fan of the artificial sweetened products. I went cold turkey on all artificial sweeteners back in March and let me tell you, it was NOT fun-four days of headaches and feeling awful. Today, my bottle of water has fresh lemon slices and frozen Triple berry Blend-Blackberries, Raspberries and Blueberries. I don't bother with the infuser bottle, I just dump everything in and drink (and eat) it all. I make up two 32 oz bottles at night and leave them to infuse for the next day. This will change though-my revision surgery is on Tuesday. I've already loaded up my freezer with peaches and tart cherries since both have been approved by my dietitian for adding to my water.

iBand convert to a Gastric Sleeve?

I'm being revised on 10/18 from LapBand to VSG due to complications with the band. I'll keep you posted. The insurance approval was really fast-two months from first visit to being assigned a surgery date. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I've eaten the same dinner almost every day. 8. I had varicose vein radio eblation (spelling?) in March and was supposed to get the smaller ones repaired in October. October sleevers?

You can do this! I'm on day 10 of my pre op diet and if I can get through this without a "cheat", you sure can! I also a revision patient. Just keep reminding yourself that it's not worth it. You want to set yourself up for success and you don't succeed if you start out by finding ways to sneak around the rules. It hasn't been easy, but when my stomach is growling, I remember why I am doing it. Drinking lots of extra fluids help fool an empty stomach too. Good luck! October sleevers?

I'm lucky in a couple of ways. I am following a 4+1 plan-4 shakes and one very controlled meal. Im grateful that I get one time per day to eat food. Even so, I'm still very hungry. Second, I currently have a LapBand in place. Even though it's empty, it still causes restriction. I'm having revision because of swallowing issues-I got stuck on a shake the other day! 16. I don't know if my esophagus will ever completely recover but I'm revising to sleeve next week. Right now my band is empty in preparation for surgery but yesterday I got "stuck" on a Protein shake so that shows me that I'm making the right decision. Why is everyone converting from band to sleeve?

I'm revising from band to sleeve in two weeks. If you didn't have the band, please don't make broad statements about why I need this revision. I didn't "abuse the band". It injured me and continues to do so. I had my band for more than six years- I thought it would be in place forever. Unfortunately, my body has decided that enough is enough. My esophagus is worn out from working hard to get food through the restriction. It has nothing to do with eating around the band or drinking milkshakes. I did what was asked-I continued care with my surgeon, I saw the dietitian and exercise physiologist, and ate as required for six years. I lost a lot of weight but once things started going bad, none of that mattered. I did my due diligence and researched before I was banded in 2010. I resent your implication that I did this to myself. You have your theories about why the band doesn't work, but you need to be careful when you make blanket statements. Yes, it's dropped in usage but it isn't just because everyone abused it or ate around it-the problem is with the device itself. OP-I'm revising because I can no longer eat food and have it go through without sitting in the back of my throat. My last upper GI showed that the barium didn't clear the band for almost five minutes. My band now sits empty, ready for revision. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  22. I'm having revision surgery on October 18th. So ready to say goodbye to my demon band! It didn't take long to get insurance approval because I've suffered through years of issues-more fills and unfills than I ever imagined would be possible. My esophagus has become worn out from the work of pushing food past the band. I've spent months with an empty band because the PA at my surgeons office insisted that the esophagus would recover. Done, done and done.... In pre-op diet mode now and the band is once again emptied out. Counting down Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Dr. Does not stand by choice

I had a similar experience with my primary care doc. She told me she thinks I would be better off trying her three shakes and one meal plan (which was available to purchase that day) instead of having revision surgery. Mind you, she has gained a LOT of weight in the ten years that I've been her patient. I've decided that after I recover from surgery I am going to start searching for a new primary care.
