  1. I was banded Monday Aug 23,2010, I've actually had more pain than I expected.. The one thing now that is causing me most problems is that I seem to have heartburn. Not sure because I've never had heartburn before..Its a pain in my chest that feels like I have to burp but can't.. I haven't eaten any real food so not sure why I would be having heartburn. I get it before I eat and after I eat or drink anything. Anyone else have any issues with this? I am taking pepcid AC twice a day but doesn't seem to help much.

Sorry , no I have not had any heartburn at all. My Dr. prescribed pepcid and they started right away giving it to me in the Hospital. I also have to take it twice a day. I would ask your Dr. about it if it keeps up. Take care this to shall pass.

  2. Since the day before my surgery I have lost about 14-15lbs.

Not weighing again until fill day the week of 9/20.

I tried starting my Leslie Sansone DVD today and my legs felt so heavy absolutely no energy so I had to stop.

Surgery was 8/16 do you all think this is normal? When did you start exercising?

    Dee

Hi Dee, I too have lost 14lbs since my 8/16 surgery. I am just starting to feel hungry this week. I started walking and although it is hot here, I do try to do at least 30 mins every day. Hopefully this will build strength and burn calories. Keep up the great work!

  3. Well fellow bansters, I'm switching over to this for my journaling. I really don't care for this "bandster hell"! Oh, I know it won't be forever and I need to learn patience, but damn I'm ready for a fill. I loved that feeling when I first got out of the hospital, that not hungry feeling? You know what I'm talking about. My Belly Lions are starting to roar and I feel that same old anxiety, like before the band. I do pretty good for most of the day, then blow it, because I'm hungry! I really don't want to go to my next appt. and have gained weight.....that would suck, big time! Other than that my wounds are healing nicely, I can slightly feel the port under my skin. I don't think my Dr. will have any trouble finding it!

I am self-pay, and my fills are only good for 90 days, or three fills....I know my Dr. had done over 1600 lap-bands and must know what he is doing, but I still question the whole 90 day or three fill thing. After that they are 100.00 bucks a pop. Guess I could do some research and figure out if any Dr.s in my area are cheaper with the fills. Guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there. That's all for now!

    Peace Out

    Kelly:confused:

HeyKelly, I am also self pay and concerned about the fills. Right now not hungry yet but I know as I heal I will start to get hungry. My surgeon is free for 90 days but then it is 60.00 per fill after that. So I would shop around if you can. Take care

    Surgery date 8/16

  4. So how are all the banded folks doing?? I am doing pretty good. I am still having some pains where my port is. The area is a little numb still, nerves that must have been cut during surgery, I'm sure. But still sore when I try to bend over but nothing I can't deal with.

I am still on mushies and just decided to treat myself with Peanut Butter and it gave me indigestion so I guess no more for me.

I see my doc on thursday but I think it's just post op and no fill for another 2 weeks but we'll see.

Love to hear how everyone else is doing.

Hi Diane, I have had my band exactly one week today. I am starting to feel much better less gas and am trying to eat more. Mostly liquid diet but am not very hungry which is good. I was weak for a while lack of Protein Shakes and fluids I guess. But it is getting easier. Stitches still a littles sore but not too bad. I see my Dr. this Thurs will let y'all know what he says. Take care and good luck to all Aug Rushers banded or waiting. It is soo gonna be worth it.

  5. My name is Shelly. I was also banded 8/16. How are you feeling? I'm still sore and have gas pains. Its tough for me to get in all my fluids but I am trying. Have you found any Protein drinks that you can tolerate? The sweet ones make me nauseated. I appreciate any advice you have!

Hi Shelly, I too was banded on 8/16. I am sore but am starting to feel better with less gas pain. It is tough to get in all of the fluids and the Protein Shakes are getting old. I try just putting them in an insulated cup and sipping on them all day. As for flavors I like the Atkins diet ones the best. A little higher in calories but right now I am concentrating on just getting them down. lol Good luck and keep up the good work!

  6. Hello everyone... Well i have 12 hours til i leave this house and be at he hospital waiting to go under... i can't wait!!!! 7. Just wanted to check in and let you all know I survived.

Congrats suzmelon to you too and your MOm. I'm sleepy so excuse any oversights or misspells.

Did Laurie check in? let me see before I sign off.

Hi everyone, I did it! I am banded and it went fine. A little uncomfortable and gas pain not too bad. Nothing pain meds won't help lol.So glad to be home and in my own bed lastnight. Thanks so much for all the support and good wishes. I am so glad everyone had a good surgery on 8/16 our lucky day! Good luck to all of the other's waiting you can do it. Talk more later.

  8. Hey Laurie,

I imagine it's hard but in some ways I wish I had to do the pre-op diet. I haven't been going crazy but I'm the nervous type and now I'm scared that they will open me up tomorrow and say "no, we can't do it, she ate this or she had a glass of wine and that blew her liver up"

I know it hasn't been easy for you though. I'm doing all liquids today and I had to take a bottle of citrate of magnesia..ugh!!

Don't forget to check in as soon as you can tomorrow. Don't forget the other site too. What time is your surgery tomorrow?

I don't have to be at the hospital until 12:30p so I probably won't be going in until about 2 or after.

I'll check back in as soon as I can.

Go to bed early tonight . Get some good rest.

    Dee

Hi Dee, I guess this liquid diet is good in someways to prepare me for what lies ahead. I have surgery at 12:30 tomorrow and am getting more and more nervous today. I have to be at the hospital at 10:30 and hope it goes quickly after that. I will get back to you and let you know. Good luck tomorrow I know we will both be fine and happy to be banded. Take care.

  9. Hey Laurie,

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm going in on 8/16 too.

Thankfully, I didn't have to do a pre-op diet except for tomorrow I have to have liquids all day and take a bottle of citrate of magnesia to clean my bowels. :)

I planned to do the liquids on my own but I have been so stressed with everything that I haven't really been able to do it. I haven't been going crazy and having big last meals and I've been watching my carbs and sugar.

I'm an emotional eater and my DH is stressing me today and my Father is sick and my family is aggravating me so I am trying hard not to go on a fried food frenzy.

I'm going to eat something and then go to bed early.

    Dee

    Hi Dee,

You are soooo lucky not to be on this pre-opp diet. I have been miserable and tearful all day. Seems like all I see is food, and have a headache I cannot get rid of. Only good thing is I haven't cheated at all!!. Oh well it will be worth it I can't wait for Monday to hurry up and get here. I know we will both do great.

  10. Hello Everyone!

I am new to this thread. My surgery date is 8/25. I am so excited and nervous all at the same time. I know that I am doing something that will help me to lead a better quality of life, but I still have some apprehensions. Best of luck to everyone on their journey.

    Jamie:smile:

Hello and welcome, My surgery date is mon 8/16 and I have been teary and aprehensive all day. I think it is a combination of nerves and pre-opp liquid diet, but quite normal from what I read here. You will do wonderful, and be so much healthier and happier after the surgery. Good Luck to you and all my fellow August Rushers wherever you are in your journey!
