  1. I seem to have Decompressed. At 22 I was 6'6". At 35 I barely hit 6'5". With 34 less pounds, my postures has signifigantly changed and maybe my spine straightened and has decompressed. I have almost made up that inch I lost. I lost fat from the tops of my feet, which make all my shoes fit funny.
  2. Ooops, found this thread after I started my own. Does this sound like slippage? Golf and the Band Questions permalink I have been about 60 days since my Band with No Complications to speak of. I went Golfing last week and I have a little muscle pain that persisted under my ribs on the left side. It is were I "imagine" my banded part of my stomach is. The day after I golfed I got a small fill, which seemed to increase the muscle pain in that area. My question is if a Golf Swing like Motion can do any damage to the band itself and the tubes it is attached too. Maybe I am being paranoid, but all of my other muscle pain has completely subsided.

  4. I sure my Muscles would start popping out. Thanks for the info Brad.
  5. One more thing from your post before, you mentioned that a weight loss as "large" as mine in this time frame would make it impossible to add muscle. That was sort of the point, I only lost 1.75 pounds in 3 weeks net. I could measure it with a tape and see it in the mirror and my clothes. I can't think of anything within the rules of physiology that would make this impossible.
  6. Why would it not be possible to simultaneously add muscle and lose body fat at the same time? It would actually seem like the natural thing that would happen on a lower calorie, high Protein diet with regular exercise. My food logs have me averaging about 1700 calories a day of mostly protein. This is over my ideal calorie intake, one reason why I got another 1.5cc fill. I have been doing a signifigant amount of hiking and mountain biking along with walking. My body measurements are down signifigantly everywhere except my calves and for some reason my shoulders. My calves are up a half inch. I saw your pictures, congratulations you look great. It is hard for me to believe that you did not increase your muscle mass, even as you lost weight?
  7. I did a double take on that too. I asked my doctor how my pounds of fat loss exceeded my total weight loss. He explained that I had gained a few pounds of muscle. He illustrated it using my Fat Percentage. So more than just losing weight, my body was changing in composition. My lean body mass had increased very slightly and my fat percentage had dropped quite a bit.
  8. Got my second Fill Today, I am almost 2 months post Op. I have been getting lots of exercise and activities. Dusted off my Bike, etc. I have only lost 2 pounds the last 2 weeks. I started at 305 and I am hanging out at 280. My first fill was only .5 CC, got a 1.5 CC today for a total of 2 CC. I feel and look like I have lost more weight than the scale says, but it definately has me bummed out a bit. I do crave Sugar. I am hoping that I put on muscle. I'm wondering if more people know there Body Fat Percentage. I wonder if this is a good and accurate "NSV". I am down from a whopping 41% of 305 which is 125 Pounds of Fat to 35% of 280 (which is 98 pounds). Wondering if anyone else thinks about it in this way?
  9. NSV is exactly what I need. Thanks!
  10. What does NSV stand for? Thanks!
  11. Other people seemed to notice first. I am down 25 from 305, but I am a tall guy. I can tell you where I feel it. My energy, stamina, lack of horrible heartburn and my belt. I have learned to buy the cheapest belt I can find. I used to always have a couple nice brown and black belts. I bought one that was reversible, hoping that I would not need it long. My feet! I never thought my feet were chubby, but all of the sudden my shoes were loose across the tops of my feet. I thought someone was playing a joke on me at first. I hit my first "runner's high" last night (while walking, lol!) but I will take it. I just wish more would leave my stomach area, my Butt has disappeared, and it wasn't too big a problem to start with.
  12. One more thing. My debilitating Heart Burn that I had preop is completely gone and my slight asthma is almost completely gone.
  13. Jack, thanks for the Advice! When I got home last night from work I ended up going for a 5 Mile Walk, something I have probably never done. I did it at a brisk pace and even hit my first "runner's high", walking. It's a little pathetic, but I will take it. I think I figured out my gaseousness, the night before I had a double dose of Citrucel and it says that it doesn't cause Gas, but for me, it Obviously does. I am seeing the loss in the mirror, my clothes, my stamina and energy level. Also, people are noticing a ton too. I am going to try to weigh myself maybe only once a week. I just don't want to fail, since everything else I have done in the weightloss arena has ended with me gaining the weight back. Regards, Thor
  14. I guess this is the Room I start in. I am a 36 Year Old Guy and my starting BMI was 35. I am 6'6". I was at 305 and got to about 294 the day before surgery. I have been about 50 days since Surgery and seem to be stuck at 281. My goal is in the 230 Area for a total of 75 Pounds. I have been getting a lot more exercise and I need to ramp it up. I eat about half of what I used to eat. I cut out Soda with no probblems, but I miss Beer a ton. I was surprised that I lost weight from strange places to begin with. Tops of my Feet and my Butt. Face and Neck were a welcome surprise, I wish more of it came from my belly. My attitude is good, I know I made the right decision. Now I just need to pay for it since insurance gave me a big, fat 0. Regards, Thor
  15. I started at 305 and I am stuck at about 280. I got banded at 298 on June 14th. I have been walking, going to the gym and I discovered that my 25 year old Mountain Bike still works, even if it looks a little funny and the color is goofy. I seem to be stuck at 280. My calorie intake is easily half of what it used to be and my energy level is way up. Mood is good, people are really noticing, but the scale just isn't moving. I have my ScrewUps, but I am eating half of what I was. Any ideas? Maybe my scale just sucks? Also I really miss Beer. I have tons of gas that I can't really tie to anything in particular that I have eaten. It seems to be relatively mild, not very pungent, but it is making me feel bloated. Any ideas or advice for me from anyone farther ahead in the journey? I also would like advice on making sure that my extra skin has a chance to shrink as well as possible. supplements? Vitamins? Certain exercises. Most unexpected result so far is that my Feet got skinny and the tops of my shoes are loose. I also seem to be going through a bad complexion situtation.
  16. It is strange how much better it is, even just being down 25 Pounds from 305 to 280. The excercise has flipped on my testosterone switch and my wife seems to initiate a lot more often, which is great. Stamina is up. I can almost go 90 seconds now. Just kidding. Renob, I am 6'6" and 230 is my goal too. Looks like you are there, good job. I am 36 and started at 305. Wondering if you have any advice and wondering what the extra skin situation looks like.
  17. Thanks Scott, I will check it out. I was thinking about going non-digital, sort of old school for accuracy. My scale is all over the place depending on my foot placement.
  18. Hopefully this hasn't been covered ad nauseum already, but I need to get a consistent, inexpensive Scale. Any suggestions?
  19. I am 36 and started with a BMI of 35. I am 6'6" and started at 305 at the beginning of June. I am at 280 now and lose 1 to 2 pounds a week. I wish I would have done it at 26! Or 20!
  20. You are going to be fine. It is from the Carbon Dioxide they use to expand the inside of your Abdomen with so they have room to work. They get most of it out before they sew you back up, but not all of it. It has to slowly be reabsorbed and in the meantime it moves as high as it can like any air bubble. It won't take to long for it to disappear.
  21. I think I might have felt better on day 2 than I did on day 4, or maybe I just over did it. Do you get to eat real Jello? Like the solid stuff? I am on only Clear liquids and I am sick of Crystal Light, sugar free fruit juice and the smell of chicken or Beef broth makes me Queasy at this point, since I have had so much. On Sunday I will progress to "Full" Liquids like V8, tomato Soup, cream of mushroom with out the chunks. I'm really no that hungry and my scale says I have lost 17 pounds since the beginning of my preop diet. My abdomen is still swollen and I am having a hard time seeing the loss in the mirror.
  22. I was banded on the 14th, I was mostly nervous about going under Anesthesia but it was a Breeze. Recovery really hasn't been Bad and I am not really Hungry. My midsection is stiff and swollen, but my incision sites are without pain so far. Went back to work yesterday which is the 3rd morning after surgery, should have waited another day. I was Zonked. I have had a few non-hunger related cravings. The smell of broth could make me queasy at this point.
  23. I was banded on Monday so it has been about 4 days. I am surprised how easy it is to not eat, I am just not hungry. I usually have Bagels and Lox for Father's Day Breakfast, but it looks like that is out. My Belly is still Sore, but it feels tight like it is swollen and I am retaining Water. I have had some painful hiccups and stomach gurgling. Now that I am just liquids I think that my body is void of anything solid. I am sick of chicken and Beef broth, enough that I think they would make me queasy in my current state. I went back to work on the third day and probably should have waited a bit longer. Starting from the PreSurgery Diet through today I have lost about 15 Pounds. How can I get one of those Strips on the Bottom to log my Journey? THOR
