  3. The toughest part of the surgery is the fluids only for 2-3 weeks, as well as changing gears when it comes to how we eat. You literally cannot eat more than a quarter cup at each meal - weird !! I tried to push that limit a couple of times with awful pain and twice vomitting. Again, this was my fault for pushing.

The first 4-5 weeks are the absolute worse as you are trying to re-train your eating habits and your brain wants to trick you to eat more. Stick to their plan and think of thw weight loss. It is now 1 month and a half since surgery and feel awesome !! I would go back to Jerusalem clinic in a heartbeat and highly recommend Dr. Ponce. He is also a teacher who has taught Dr. Almance.

If you can get this done sooner - I would do it !! The wait kills because it is the unknown - by then - who knows how much you can already have lost - pounds and pounds.

Feel free to e-mail anytime about this.

  4. I made my decision to do this in less than a month and then booked an apt. and did the surgery two weeks later. I had surgery on July 8th 2010 and have now lost 26 pounds already.

I went on my own which was scary but it was the best thing I ever did - time to heal with no one to worry about. Hospital is in a plazza in Tijuana but it is super clean - small though but they keep you there minimally and take you to the Recovery House. They took such good care of me it was beyond my expectations.

Dr. Ponce does not speak English but Dr. Battincourt (retired now at age of 30 something - doing well with this venture) will translate. Nurses there were awesome - wrap your legs up tight before surgery, IV went in like a charm.

  5. Hello, my name is Julie and I am scheduled for surgery with Dr. Poce de Leon on December 10th, 2010. You are the first person who I have found to post anything about him. I would love to add you as a friend and watch your progress if you dont mind. Thanks! J

  6. Did anyone have constipation after surgery ? I have gone from going three times a day to not going for a week now. This is now almost two weeks post-op. If anyone has had this problem, how did you resolve it ?

    Sleeve Surgery July 8th

Things went very well. Try to get to recovery house as soon as possible as it is great. You will have lots of people looking after you, making sure you are comfortable. My biggest tip is to start walking as soon as you can as it releases the nasty gas they fill you with. This is the thing that gives you excessive chest pains. Also, do the heavy in and out breathing which will do the same. They will let you take GAS-X strips the day after and it also relieves pressure. Go shopping when you can as it is a good way to forget about pain and great for gas release. I am now 10 days post-op and started pureed foods - 2 oz. max otherwise you feel sick. Stitches healing and I have lost 16 pounds since July 4th. The pain is pretty much gone but energy level low as I have been on liquids for almost a month (pre-op and post-op). Now that I am on pureed foods, I feel so much better with energy level but portion is still minute - hard to believe how quickly you get filled. Dr. Ponce and his team of people are great - I felt like royalty and they treat the guests who can eat even better than I could ever expect - cook their meals, etc ... Can't say enough great things about them !!! Good luck and welcome to your new life - losing weight feels great !!
  8. I am getting the sleeve on July 8th through the Mt. Zion at Jerusalem hospital in Tijuana. Anyone else going ? I am either Dr. Leon De Ponce - anyone had surgery with him ?
