Afraid to be Thin
Hi all, I went to my doc this week and was discussing some concerns I was having, some fears. I have been heavy most of my life and I have reached a weight where I spent a good part of my adult life and is a fairly comfortable place for me although still a very obese place. My doc asked if i was afraid to be thin. I have to say..maybe a little. She shared an article by Dr. Matthew Anderson. there was a checklist and I answered yes to many of the questions. I do find it hard to be noticed for looks instead of how funny or smart I was. I have always struggled with relationships. I present as strong and self confident but, truthfully...nope. I am afraid that I will be rejected... anyway wondering if anyone has heard of this author and if you agree or may feel the same way.

Hard Time
How do you stay motivated? It is so hard not to return to the same way of eating, lack of exercise.

When do you actually start to feel the 'fills'?
Just got filled today...I have 8.2 cc in 14cc band. I was at 7.6 last time and had started to feel some restriction. I am hoping this one will do the trick. My NP said that average is around 8cc's for the 14cc band. Of course I need to exercise more and stay away from carbs and I would be much more successful!

I need a friend
I have the 14cc band too. I was banded 6-10-10...I have had a couple fills and am now at 7.6cc's still dont have full restriction. I believe 8cc's is suppose to be average for that size band. What are you doing way up there?

Drinking while eating???
I am battling the drinking with a meal too. I didnt realize just how much I want to drink with meals. I have not reached my sweet spot yet, but am getting close. I am ready for the time when I cant drink with meals. It is amazing the rollercoaster of thoughts...did I make the right decision, I feel like I am on a diet ...hate that! blah blah blah...I hope it gets better.

Weird but good
You are an excellent writer, I enjoyed your post and can relate although not as close to goal weight. It is interesting to take note of the subtle differences. I am down about 38lbs but I have noticed I dont feel as invisible. At times I wonder is that my perception due to feeling good about myself more often or is it real. I think its both. Thanks again!

Flying, Cabin Pressure and the Band
I am going on a trip next week, I have a 14cc band and only have 4cc's of fill. Since I really dont have any restriction I am not worried about flying, I know that my doctor had said that they would remove the fill before a vacation. I was thinking since I didnt have any restriction I wouldnt get it removed, after you post I am wondering if I should make a call.....

Picture of defective port during surgery
If your insurance covered it maybe they can help you pursue it further with the company. Sometimes they just need to be bothered a bit, especially with the trauma you have been through because of this! I say contact them.

Protein Shake help !
I too was picky and found some protien shots at The Vitamin Shoppe. They have either a 26g or a 42g version in different flavors. You can drink them in about two swallows and your protien is in...Hope this Helps

A few Questions
My surgery was day surgery, was ready to go by noon. I took my pain meds and was fine. Got home around 2pm and took more meds...slept the rest of the day and woke up fine. I was a little sore and stiff but, wasn't bad. I had to walk around to get the gas moving around but other than that...no problems.

Ughhh...
I am not one that is normally affected by depression, but today was difficult for me. I found out last night that a friend I hadnt seen in a while passed away. I didnt think I was affected but was feeling down, then got the urges to eat. I admit I ate things I shouldn't of...now next step in the cycle...guilt for eating things I shouldn't. Any suggestions on dealing with depression?

Any June Bandsters???
10th for me too!
-
Mad as H-E-!-!-
Just for clarification...bandster hell is feeling hungry but still on liquids a few weeks post surgery? When you get a fill it causes the body to not get the hungry sensation? when you reach your sweet spot you eat your small amount, feel full, stay full until meal time?

A Concern
I know my post op instructions say not to be concerned over a fever unless its over 101. But, I have been running a low grade fever every evening for the last couple days...is this normal? Surgery date was 6-10.
