  1. Lol...I got bored at home although at the end of the day I questioned myself as to why I came in to work. But Im glad I did because I walked a lot; going to the cafetaria, the bathroom, conference room, the bathroom, the mailroom, the bathroom...lol..I guess all that walking gave my stomach muscles a workout....but yeah, watch out for the gas...the poor guy in the bathroom stall on my left had the unfortunate experience of being a auditory witness to my *ahem* trumpet solo...

    HELP! - Port ripped???

Also keep in mind that you have lot of nerve endings there - being that its close to the surface and its on the muscles, unlike the actual band itself. So unless the pain doesnt go away after a few hours, then call the Dr.

    yay for mushies

Yeah, this Wednesday will be my 1st week into post-op. This liquid diet is a killer! I really cant wait to get to the mushy stage. You said it right there!
  4. Hi all, I'm on my 4th day of post-op and one of things I notice is that bad breath that goes on while my body is adjusting to the liquid diets. Ketosis, I think, has a nasty side effect called bad breath, lol. Its a yuk mouth feeling and I could smell it when I blow air to check. Prior to my procedure I would use apple cider vinegar and is actually good for people suffering from GERD like I do. I wonder if this is ok post-op. What about chewing mint or parsley? Are they allowed while on a liquid diet??
  5. Hi all, I finally had my procedure done on June 9th 2010 after months of doctors visits and changing habits. Now on my 4th day of postop. Its been a crazy trip but Im on my way to living healthy! I've been lurking here during my pre-op but I finally registered to celebrate my procedure. I really think having a support network is a MAJOR help, I wouldn't suggest going solo through this whole ordeal as there are tons of helpful information from people who went through this with great results! I do miss the occasional steaks and burgers when I see tv commercials or people talking about BBQs :( but this is when a great support comes in to keep you on the right track. Whether they be your friends or message boards such as this - it really guides you to stick with it. The LAP-BAND® is just a tool but its only useful through a combined effort of other outside factors that completes the mission. Right now, its still painful to get out of bed or watch the fresh stitches when taking a shower, but sometimes I get hungry - especially when cooking dinner for my two boys, lol. The protein shakes do help alleviate the hunger pangs, but I couldnt wait to start eating pureed foods and actual meals - small portions, but actual meals. I can't wait to actually see the results. I'm following the phases to the tee so wish me luck!! Now for work, what do you guys bring? Do own those personal blenders and special containers? I need advice when it comes to packing lunch for work.

    Embarrassing Diarrhea Question

On my 4th day post op and seems like this is a common thing - so Im not feeling alone here, lol...yeah, its seems logical that being on liquid diet would encourage diarrhea. Can't wait to eat pureed foods that bind - like the BRATs (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast). Oh well...gotta keep truckin!
  7. Give it some time and don't give up. Hormones could be a possible factor, which means metabolism. Don't go back to "comfort eating". Sometimes, all you need is the right motivation. Have you tried going to group sessions for post-ops?? That could help.
