Its 4 weeks and 2 days to be exact and I am so ready for my 1st fill. I have been eating my fish and soft veggies but have not been hitting the gym as much as I wanted to at this point. The weight loss is going up and down with the same 3 pounds this week. I realize that I am more hungry this week and keep having cravings for bad things like ice cream, which I may or may not (I have) indulged in recently.
Its been 3 weeks and I have to say that I am pleased with my band so far. The hardest part for me was the liquid stage but now that I am on the puree/mushie stage, which pretty much for me equals soups, fish and very soft veggies...life is great. Its so weird that although I have no fill yet, I can only eat small amounts and dont feel hungry all that often.
Even this weekend, I was at a party and told myself that I would cheat and got a peice of fried chicken...after two bites and chewing for a million times...I decided that I wasnt hungry and no longer desired the chicken and put it down.
Ohhh and the weight is starting to slowly come off...
Today is alittle over a week since my surgery, last Monday and I have to say that I am feeling pretty good. My post op appointment on Monday was literally 5 minutes and I was sent on my way until my first fill in 4 weeks.
Now that the swelling has gone down, I am hungry!! I hated drinking the protein shakes since the pre-op week but now I really HATE them. I am sick of liquid anything, which includes soups and jello and even frozen pops. All I want now is some "real" food...bring the mushies!
I have to be on mushies for 3 weeks and so I already know a million receipes that will make me happy...so here is hoping that I survive until Saturday.
Yesterday was pretty sucky. I was nauseous all day for some reason and it was hard to drink the amount of liquid my doctor told me to drink. Luckily, I didnt actually toss my cookies because my chest was still sore from the hernia repair and so that would have been horrible.
I did sleep much better and I sipped water through the night and today I woke up feeling good. Less pain, no nausea and feeling on the up and up.
So, the deed was done yesterday 7/26. After reading everyone's experiences, I have to say that it was still not what I was expecting. The procedure went smoothly but the doctor found a hiatal hernia that had to be repaired as well. So, it hurts when I take deep breaths because she had to put some stiches in my diaphram. I feel moderate pain, which is only really bad when I get up or sit down and I have been taking my pain medication as recommended. I woke up around 2am and actually heard my stomach growl, which shows that its working. Yesterday I was only allowed water but today I progress to liquids.
I was discharged the same day because my insurance didnt pay for overnight but I think it was better to be in my own bed.
Hopefully the pain will continue to subside as the days go on.
Its been 3 days on these shakes and I want to understand why I can't even eat veggies for dinner. I understand the body needs low carbs and all but don't greens have vitamins and nutrients that we need? I am over the shakes and don't want jello or sugar free pops...
Today is day 1 of a liquid diet that I was put on yesterday after getting my pre-op testing results from my surgeon. There was no warning and therefore I didnt think to go all out for my "last meal".
I am hungry...so far, I have had 3 protein shakes, which amounts to 500 calories and 60 carbs...can you say starving? I realize that my belly is not growling, however I do feel just a tad light headed and just want the day to be over.
I don't know how people do this for 2 weeks but I know that my 6 days will be torture.
