Dec 6th getting Lap Band
Hang in there! You are going through the worst part!
-
This is the start of my Journey
My story is similar to yours and I also had lost the motivation to exercise. After being banded and after I had lost about 20lbs I started to feel like exercising again and I've been really truly enjoying it ever since! Best of luck!

Northern Ontario?
Wow I am also going through the exact same thing! For the past 2 weeks I haven't lost anything and my hunger increased quite a bit. I was worried that I had stretched my pouch out too. What are the symptoms of that Cjf? I went for a small fill on Friday, only .2 but I feel so much better. I have very little hunger again and the scale is moving down. I don't understand how you can be at a good spot then loose it after a while?

Weight Loss Charm Bracelet :)
Cool idea! Post a picture of it!

Not happy with myself
I was also the same as you. The first fill brought me to 5cc's and it helped a lot. The second fill to 6cc brought me to my sweet spot and you'll get there too. Just be patient and get your fills as soon as you can.

So here is a question, are you rewarding yourself at your goals?
Every 25lbs I buy myself a little something, like bath bombs or a watch. When I hit 100lb weight loss I'm going to buy myself a kayak, once I'm 199lbs I'm going to go to a spa and get a new outfit and do a night on the town. Then when I hit goal I'm going on a big shopping trip.

The evil scale
I had a scale like that too. I just got a biggest loser scale through Sears and its awesome!

I need this forum so much!
Although I am happy with the amount of weight I have lost since being banded 4 months ago, deep down I don't think I believe I will ever get to my goal weight. I know this is wrong, negative and self defeating. I have been overweight for almost 20 years now and during that time I have lost a significant amount of weight once or twice but I was never even close to my goal weight. I guess I'm expecting these results again? I love coming on these boards to read success stories. It gives me encougargement and hope. Does anyone else share my demon thoughts? :scared2:

I have been doing some reading about claiming the band on our taxes. What do you think about that? Did either of you get a receipt from the clinic? I don't recall getting one.

199.8!
You have accomplished my biggest dream! You must feel on top of the world. Hope you have a big reward planned. WAY TO GO!!!!

Made my goal!!
:smile2: Yay today is my 4th month anniversary and I'm down 50.2. I did it! I'm 1/3 of the way there!

I really hope you are there too Miss Bibi! I have a whey Protein shake for breakfast everyday. I find I'm really tight in the morning and drinking my breakfast is best, plus I'm totally satisfied on it till lunch. The other day I was going for a big hike and had another shake for lunch (I didn't want a heavy belly) and again I was totally satisfied. For lunch I either have tuna and cottage cheese, chicken caeser salad or triscuits with cheese and salsa (this one doesn't keep me satisfied as long). Supper is a meat, vegi, and if I have room a bite or two of whatever carb I cooked. I find I really only have to watch my portions at supper, earlier in the day I can't eat much at all. Today is my 4 month anniversary and I met my goal of -50lbs. Yay!

So how did your fill go Miss Bibi? I also feel like I'm not banded in the evenings. Did you mention this to the clinic and if so what did they say about that? I really hope you're there now!!!!!!! I am 3 days away from the 4 month anniversary and I'm really hoping to hit the -50lb mark. Cross your fingers for me!!!

I hope I make my goal...
Nov 8th is my 4 month band anniversary and I'm really hoping to have met my goal of a 50lb weight loss! My poor husband expected me to have hit -50 a few days ago and bought me a present. He askes me constantly if I'm there yet, its cute! The present is burning a hole in his pocket! LOL! 2lbs to go!

Making the Choice
I also live in Ontario and self paid $16 000 for my band. I have had it for almost 4 months and I'm so happy I did it! I have lost 48 pounds to date and I'm hoping to have lost 50 by Nov 8th. Anyway, FYI, when you are healed from the band but waiting for a fill you do not have restriction and can eat most foods, so until you get to your sweet spot you do have to "diet". That was a hard time, I wondered if I did the right thing or not. Once I had two fills I was at my sweet spot and the band is now doing its job! Also the clinic wanted me to start exercising right away. I didn't do much more than easy walks at first, but once some weight came off I felt more like exercising and you can't stop me now, I have so much energy, I'm actually enjoying it very much. In order for your band to work you have to do two things. Follow the surgeons instructions and make sure you are at a good fill level, don't slack in either of these departments and you can't fail. Good luck!

Day 3 and the start of Day 4
This time will soon be a distant memory. I have been banded almost 4 months and while reading your email I actually thought back fondly of my post op time. Weird! LOL!

Sleeved Nov. 16
I am a paramedic as well and I was just banded in July. I have lost 48 lbs to date. I was surpised when I woke up to be in so much pain, the first few days were rough but I was back to normal quickly and back to work 2 weeks post op. Only a handful of people even know I had it done. All you have to do is follow your surgeons instructions and exercise, its really that simple!

SWLC - Dr. Cobourn
Dr. Colburn did not do my surgery, Dr. Mumford did but I have had some dealings with him and he is awesome!

Hi Ladies, Miss Bibi if you can eat a kaiser bun I think you do need a fill. Before my last fill I could eat a bun if I hollowed it out, now I know there is no way I could eat one and not get stuck. I hope it goes well. If I do go for another small fill I will try emailing it in, I have always called. I'm not sure if I need a small fill or not. I am losing but only a little a week! I find I can only drink milk with whey Protein power in it for breakfast (anything thicker is hard to get down), lunch I usually eat cottage cheese mixed with tuna and I find it a bit hard to get down but I work it! :sneaky: The thing is that I can eat a bit more than a cup for supper and I'm often a bit hungry in the evening. I read on here somewhere that one bandster rates needing a fill on how much she can eat for supper when she is looser. If I go with that I might need a small fill. What do you think? My banana whey protein came in yesterday! :w00t: I'm looking forward to trying it. CJF that is awful what that person said to you at the vet office! Were they overweight or skinny with no real idea what it is like to struggle with a weight issue. If she only really knew how rude she was to you! LOL!!! I have only told a small handful of people too! But other than them I've only had two people notice my weight loss so far. I like it that way! I love that your husband helps you slow down your eating in such a sweet secretive way. My hubby gives me a look but I like what your does better. I'll be having a talk with mine - LOL!!! That is where my port is too but I don't know why it would be aching? What do you think so done with it all? Last night after working a very busy shift and an hour of overtime I came home, grabbed a handful of my sons pretzels and I got super stuck! Usually I either just slime a bit, or have a small PB. Last night I vomitted 6 times. I was so scared I would slip my band but all is well. No more pretzels for me, I was probably just eating too fast. I was starved! Your guys are my rock!

Still looking...
I was banded 3 months ago at SWLC by Dr. Mumford. I have had dealings with Dr. Colburn as well and they are both excellent. I am very happy and I have no regrets at all. Good luck in your decision!

Couch to 5K ?
So how did week 4 go? I start it tonight. Like you I didn't think I could do 3 mins but I did. Now I'm shocked just to think of doing 5 min. Congrats on booking your first 5K. I think mine will be next spring/summer.

CJF - glad your back, missed you on here. Back2Bestme - I had Dr. Mumford at the SWLC.

Mini goal reached!
Wow reading your post is like talking to myself. I was banded July 8, 2010 and I'm down 44lbs but we just think in a very similar way. LOL!!! Way to go!

Miss Bibi, I actually can't drink anything too thick in the am, I even have a hard time getting cottage cheese down at lunch time. I did buy berries and splenda for tomorrow morning . I found some whey isolate here in town (miracle) but it was very expensive, but I needed some in the interm. Do you just have the one scoop in your milk? It sure is a lot less calories than the meditrim. Were you able to eat a bun? Do you figure your at a plateau or do you need a fill?

Yes, thank you for your input So Done! I also had no idea they were considered slidier foods. Now it makes sense to me though. Miss Bibi I just ordered the strawberry whey isolate! How long does it take to come in? Tried my first toasted sandwich yesterday and it was a no go. I ended up eating it open faced and was able to eat some of it at least.
