    Drinking during meals

This is going to be the hardest thing for me to get accustomed to. I loveeee to have liquid at a meal...milk...tea..soda..water...it doesn't matter. My surgery is tentatively scheduled for the 23 Nov so I really need to get a handle on not drinking at meals. I also have a desk job and constantly have Water at my desk gulping it down. Those of you who are banded...are you able to drink throughout the day without having issues? I don't have all of my thyroid so I'm constantly thirsty for some reason so I always have a drink on me.
  3. Helloooooo, I am tentatively scheduled for November 23rd. !! I had my meeting with the surgeon on October 11th, they sent my authorization into the insurance on the 18th, and supposedly I'm in on Nov. 23rd. My birthday is Nov. 20th (I'll be 32, UGHHH) and I had already taken off Nov 18th through 28th. We had the 25th and 26th off anyway, so I'm hoping to bump it sooner if I can. Just waiting on authorization from insurance. So hopefully they don't sit on the claim forever. :huh2:
  4. I think if someone votes in the poll, it shows up as a new response to the thread. I think.

    Conservative VS Liberal

Yeah, those signs and the people holding them, disgusting. Eff the tea party. I can't believe I share the same air as these people.
  6. Hi. I'm hoping to get banded sometime in August or September. I have PCOS as well, but am currently not on Metformin. I was in the past and on BC at the same time. I got pregnant (lost it) got scared and went off the Metformin. My endo or my GP (who I think is a better doc than my endo) never advised me to go back on the Metformin. I have about 1/4 of my thyroid left because of a huge goiter that I had removed, along with my thyroid because the surgeon wasn't sure if the cells were cancerous or not. I'm glad I read this thread, as I'll certainly have questions to ask my GP. Any suggestions? I'm glad to see people in the same situation still plugging along with the band.

    Evil birth control pill

The link that I posted says something about the old school BC's and weight gain. I wish I could go on Mirena (it's an implant that goes up in your biz, Katy) but I haven't had any babies. My OB won't put it in, something about the cervix not being dilated before. So, I'm on the Nuva ring which is low dose too.

    Evil birth control pill

Here's an interesting read on birth control and weight gain. I'm on the nuva-ring personally, I think my weight gain has been because of my eating habits and I too have PCOS. Anyway, it's worth a read: Birth Control Pills: Weight Gain and Fluid Retention

How do you feel about "born-agains"?

How does this even answer my question? Born-agains cherry pick verses out of the bible all the time. Hence the hate and condemnation of homosexuals. I have strong faith in the Lord. I also know that you or no one else can tell me who or who isn't getting into Heaven. No one on this earth will read and interpret the Bible the same as anyone else. It's impossible. So, you keep on keepin on, whatever helps you sleep better at night.

How do you feel about "born-agains"?

So have they (the Catholic church) reneged on the whole shell fish thing? And I'm pretty sure my boyfriend is going to hell since he mars the corners of his beard. :grouphug: I'm not Catholic. I read that in the bible. It's pretty easy to understand. Oh, I've been known a time or two to work from home on Sunday too. SMITE MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

How do you feel about "born-agains"?

Did you just yank that out of your ass or do you have proof of her "mental health issues?" Marguerite Perrin is a God Warrior. I mean, if you want to equate that with mental health issues, be my guest. :grouphug:
  12. I work at a pharmaceutical company in clinical R&D medical writing. Everyone I work with is so nosy even when it comes to the tiniest ailment. So when I told my manager that I was having surgery, her eyeballs got all big and wanted me to go on further. I told her I was having a minimally invasive laparoscopic procedure and left it at that. She only needs to know the dates (when I do get my date for surgery) and how long I'll be gone. I'm not sure how everyone else's workplace is, but you would think that would be standard procedure. Does anyone also have short term disability through their work that they can get while off from the surgery?

How do you feel about "born-agains"?

Patty, I'm not sure you would appreciate my input. I'm not a fan of the stereotypical born-again. They're usually the foam at the mouth type of Christian. The pick and choose from the Bible type of Christian. The "you're going to hell for this, this, and this" type of Christian. e.g., Not really a fan. :grouphug:

    Woman no more!!!!

Congrats!!!!! That too is one of my goals. I can't wait to break up with Lane Bryant, Torrid...fat lady clothes in general. When I lost 100lbs before (several years ago) I was able to shop in the misses section and OMG is stuff cheaper. Like, when things go on sale at LB, they go from a $50 shirt to a $30 shirt. Stuff onsale in the regular clothes size section gets CHEAP. I could get 5 shirts for what I was paying for 1 shirt at LB or Torrid. Can NOT wait!! Mucho congrats again!!!!:thumbup:
  16. Hi there. I've lurked the forum for quiet a while now, finally registered for a user name and discovered the photo albums that tonsssss of members have put up. WOW what an inspiration!!! So, wanted to say hi. I attended a seminar for Dr. Chua in Milwaukee at Aurora Sinia. I sent my packet in (waiting for their mailroom to deliver the Fed-ex envelope I paid $10 for....) and am now ready to get the ball rolling. My insurance is wonderful, I don't have a waiting period or anything, I'm just at the mercy of Dr. Chua's staff and how fast they schedule everything. I'm pretty excited, especially after seeing how well so many of you do. I've had a handful of friends that have had bariatric surgery, but no-one has had the lap band yet. I'm the guinea pig. Hope to update soon with some promising dates of moving forward!!! Cheers! Andrea

Lurked for a while now :)

Amaris - Thank you very much for the warm welcome! I'm super excited to get the ball rolling!! Dawn - I don't know when my surgery date is. I do know my insurance doesn't have any specific wait periods. I just have to have 2 co-morbidities, or have a BMI over 40 (which I have). So, hopefully, if all goes well at the consults, I'll be able to schedule pretty quickly for surgery. Can't wait to update again
