  1. First day back to work since surgery!! Feeling pretty good :)

  2. I'm on pureed/mushies. I have pureed chilli all the time with a bit of shredded cheese. It goes down nice, has tonssss of protein and it tastes wonderful lol. I've also had scrambled eggs and low fat corned beef hash (which is super mushy). I'm not into sweets so these type of foods are right up my alley so I'm not feeling deprived; plus those types of foods really fill me up.

    pain in shoulder blades

I'm not Cindi, but I was sent home with an incentive spirometer. It's this tube thing that you breathe in and out of slowly. It's supposed to help your lungs open back up after the anesthesia. I stopped using mine because it killed my port incision to breathe in so deep. I had surgery on the 8th and still have bad shoulder pain. I do walking and gas x to no avail. Can't wait till it goes away, its the only thing left over from surgery that's bothering me...
  4. Hi all. I'm a week out today and still have left shoulder pain. Everything else feels great though. It's so nice to read everyone else's experiences, seeing I'm not alone!
  5. Meg, who is your surgeon? Mine said the exact same thing! I used Dr. Chua at Sinai in Milwaukee....I'm 3 days out.
  6. How are u doing? I'm at the hospital right now. I decided to stay the night and go in the morning. I feel great. Just have a bit of gas pain on the left shoulder and the port is a tiny bit tender. Hope you and whoever else had surgery is doing good!
  7. I go to tomorrow at 9:30

    A few more issues

Thank you thank you thank you to whoever suggested an ad blocker for Chrome. Holy crap what a difference. The ad that ticked me off was the one in the upper right hand corner that folded down every time you hovered over there. It's gone!!!!!!!!!! Well, all of them are gone but that one was the one that really got me. Every time I went to click on new posts it would fold down. UGH.

    Do you eat peanut butter??

Thank you for the link!!! I just ordered a bunch of stuff off of there. Their shipping prices are very reasonable compared to other sites too.
  10. Thanks for the updates newly banded ladies. Sal, hope everything went well for you too!! FOUR MORE DAYS
  11. Good luck, Vicky!!! Update us as soon as you're able. I'm officially less than a week away. I'm starting to not be able to sleep at night, lol. Worse than a kid at Christmas.
  12. Yesterday was my final appt before surgery. All my blood work and tests came back good so I'm ready to go. AAAAAAAND I don't have to do a pre-op diet. WOOT. My surgeon (Dr. Chua, he's amazingggg) doesn't believe in them. I also have a pretty awesome post-op. I only have to do clear liquids the day of and after surgery. After that I can move on to puddings and soups and stuff. I'm super excited, next Wednesday is the day!!!!

    Great guy.

funny!!! I get my band on the 8th so I'm not in the thick of it yet, but my boyfriend has been pretty supportive of me as well. We ended up getting a Water cooler/dispenser because the water we have is FOUL out of the faucet. We both cut out the soda; this is huuuuuge for Eric [b/f] because he seriously could kill a 12-pack a day of soda. Something as simple as that comes off as extremely supportive to me because it's not in the house and isn't a temptation. That's all I have for now. We'll see when I'm eating half a cup of pureed chicken and he's eating pizza how I feel about him.

    PCOS pregnancy success story.

Congrats!! I have PCOS as well. It's so great to see personal experiences with losing the weight and conceiving. Thanks for sharing!!!
  15. LOL! I can picture that. I had my gallbladder out last year and had 4 stabby looking wounds. I'm sure I'll be adding a few more. Well good luck, we'll have to check on each other from time to time!!
  16. You're 1 day older than me!!! I'll be about 3 weeks behind you banding-wise too. How cool.

    Love the new mobile site!

It looks pretty sweet on the Android system too if anyone has a Droid and are viewing via their phone.
  18. (i can't multi-quote) Docs*wife!!! I'm the 8th too!! HIGHFIVE
  19. I'm going to throw this out there, incase anyone digs the Starbucks iced green tea latte's like I do. Granted, I haven't had to start the protein drinks yet...but I've been testing running a couple so I'm not drinking poop flavored liquid for a week. I went on Amazon and got a lb bag of matcha powder (the stuff that makes the green tea; green tea). Hokay, so I mix about a 1/5 cup of that with some Splenda in a 20 oz tumbler with no-fat milk. Then I take my scoop of Any-Whey flavorless protein powder and mix it into oblivion. I have to say, it's not IDENTICAL to the starbucks latte, but it's pretty damn close. The only calories in it are from the sweetner, milk and protein. It's pretty darn low too. I've read a lot of people hating the flavor of the protein drinks by the end of things, so I figured I'd share that.
  20. Mine will be an outpatient procedure........ Also, jedivy, I'm sorry you're having a hard time. I've read a lot of stories similar to yours in the first few days post-op. Keep up the hard work though, I'm sure there's a light at the end of the tunnel. :hugs:
  21. I just turned 32 on Saturday, my surgery date is December 8th. Hopefully my 33rd birthday will be much more bad ass.
  22. anyone else? Is there a button for new posts still? Besides going to my profile to see the subscribed threads? I'm confuzzled.

Lap band or continue WW after 1 year

I wouldn't agree with this at all. I was VERY successful with WW. I lost over 100lbs. I kept it off for over 2 years. THATS the problem, people who get the band CAN lose weight, they usually can't keep the weight off. Sandra, WW isn't going to make or break you. In fact I find it kind of lame your insurance makes you do a year of it to even be considered for bariatric surgery. If you believe that you will do fine on WW (which you've said you've done 2 times before) and not have to struggle to TAKE the weight off and then KEEP the weight off, then only do WW. If you know for yourself that that isn't going to happen, consider the band then. If we all could lose weight with WW most of us wouldn't need the band....that's my opinion.
