  1. I Was banded on June 15, 2010. I lost 93 pounds but gained approx 10 back over the winter. Still happy with my progress but finding it harder to get back on track. I really want to lose about 25 more pounds. Anyone else in the situation ???
  2. Sorry it’s been too long . . . but I’m still on track and losing . . . YEAH !! I’m down 44 pounds since June, which I think is about half way to my goal. I had my hysterectomy eariler this week and I'm feeling pretty good. I need an adjustment but wanted to wait until my surgery was over. Hope your doing well.

  3. I KNOW! I just hit 40 pounds today and I finally got to my sweet spot 2 weeks ago. I thought it would have been faster like a steady 2 pounds per week. I'm gonna try to start adding exercise more regurally. Hope this speeds things up some. I just found out on friday that I have to have a Laparoscopic hysterectomy in december. Great . . . 3 more incisions in my belly. . . . pretty soon i'm gonna be able to play connect the dots. LOL

  4. Dr. Felix placed by band 2 days ago (June 15, 2010). So far so good. He is very caring and patient. He sat through my LONG list of questions and answered every one of them honestly and took his time. The staff in the Sewickley office are also very patient. I felt like a huge pest calling them all the time to ask questions and see where I stood in the approval process. Not once did they make me feel like I was a bother.
  5. Haven't chatted in awhile. Just wanted to check in and see how you are doing. Jeannine

  6. I've been having some difficulty getting my head wrapped around eating healthy the lap band way. I've been on Weight Watchers and thought I knew how to eat healthily. I had always been successful on WW and lost 40 - 50 pounds but could never keep it off. Anyways when I told my dietician what I was eating she said that I was making poor choices. I like the Yoplait thick and creamy light yogurt. She said it has too much sugar. I like apple and cinnamon instant oatmeal. She also said this has too much sugar. I ate both of these items on WW and lost weight. I want to go grocery shopping and get some better choices. SO please tell me what you eat. I need Breakfast ideas, snack ideas, what staples do you keep in the house? thanks !!!! Jeannine
  7. My dr was only going to give me 1 cc my first fill I begged fir more and he gave me 1.5 cc. It did nothing. Yesterday I went back and hot a other 1.5 cc's. This time I can feel the difference. It hurts to eat anything. Gonna stick with liquids today.
  8. Anyone have any zucchini recipes? I have 3 from the garden in the kitchen and from the looks of it there will be several more on the way. I love to marinate and grill them, I also love zucchini bread but don't want to turn the oven on too much. Any suggestions?
  9. I'm looking for recommendations for some good self help books that focus on motivation, new habits, changing life style, life balance etc . . . I do have the 7 habits of highly effective people but I would like to get something to put on my iPod to listen to while I walk. Thanks

I was banded on 6/15/10. I followed the liquid diet for 10 days post op. It was fine at first but then I started to get really hungry. I had severe hunger pains. On day 9 and 10 I cheated and moved myself to the pureed food stage. When I told my Dr. at my post op appointment he said to me why didn't you move yourself to the next stage. (The dietician was very adamant about not doing this) I told him I did with some mashed potatoes and some applesauce but I still didn't fill full at all. What he said next was so surprising to me! He told me to eat regular food b/c I didn't have any restriction yet just to be careful and chew chew chew. I think if the dietician knew this she would have a fit. I did what he said and I have been able to eat anything! I'm eating like i did presurgery but trying to watch and make healthier choices. I lost 10 pounds on the liquid diet and now I am just maintaining. Just wondering if I’m hindering myself or hurting my band placement. I do fill some things getting stuck if I don't chew enough or swallow a large piece but after a minute it makes it way down. I’ve also had a few sodas and they don't seem to bother me either, no bloating or anything. Has anyone else gone through this? Did your doctor tell you to eat normally? Starting to think I won’t ever fill full with less food and worrying that I’m stretching out my stomach or something. I have not vomited, been ill, felt no adverse effects just mentally driving myself crazy.

  12. CMNSTRD this is exatly how I feel! Keep wondering if this all was for nothing. I wish this part of the process was explained a little more in depth during the pre op discussions. I have an appointmnet with a personal trainer on Monday to start an exercise program. Hopefully that will help to start moving the scale.
  13. I bought the Bariatric Advantage High Protein Meal Replacement at the suggestion of my surgerons office. It's the product they sell in the office. The dietician spoke of it in her classes stating that it did not have the aftertaste like other protein products. They suggested this product because the protein is from a high quality whey protein isolate. They gave me a sample of the vanilla pre surgery to try. I mixed it with 2% milk and it wasn't bad. Post surgery, I bought this product in chocolate flavor. I've been mixing with 1% milk. I DO NOT LIKE THEM! They are very thick and just do not taste good to me. I can not drink an entire 8oz serving. I tried to make 4oz servings. Drank most of it but still didn't like it. I tried 6oz of milk and powder for 4oz to make it less strong. still no luck :smile2: Not sure if it is just that post surgery and foods do not taste too good? The fact that I felt full after a half of it? The first few sips were not that bad. it was the end of the drink that I couldn't take any more. Does anyone else use this product?? Do you mix anything in it? Do you use a different brand Protein shakes? any suggestions will be appreciated.
  14. I was banded 1 week ago tomorrow. Still on liquid diet until friday. My stomach keeps growling  I am so hungry. Grape juice, apple juice, chicken broth, jello, all these things just aren't cutting it. And oh the protein shakes. TASTE AWEFUL!!!!
  15. teach724

    So hungry!

Thanks guys. I started drinking one campbells soup at hand a day. they are a itle thicker then just broth and it seems to be helping some.
  16. teach724

    so so hungry

I hear you! I fell like one of those starving kids you see on TV  My stomach growls all the time and the pain gets worse each day. I am 7 days post op today and could have been in to see my docotor EXCEPT he is out of the office until Friday UGH!!!! So I started drinking Campbells Soup at hand chicken and stars. The little bit of noodles that are in this are so tiny. I have started to eat them but still mash them up in my mouth even smaller. I had some applesauce today too. I ate it so fast and then realized what I had done. I sometimes think the band isn't there either. I havn't felt full yet  I know I'm cheating some but I look at it this way, if he were in town He would have moved me to the next stage and I really havn't been overdoing it. I don't think I can stand this much longer. :smile2:

  18. CONGRATS! Looking forward to when I can exercise. Still very sore . . . only 5 days post op. I may try to take a walk today.
  19. Hey I was just wondering how you are doing? Did everything go well on Monday? How are you feeling?

I'm feeling pretty good today. No pain meds now for over 48 hours :) I am growing very tired of this liquid diet but I guess it's working, I've lost 8 pounds so far. I don't get to see my Dr. until the 25th :( So I can't move to phase 2 of mushie foods until then.

Drop me a line and let me know how you are doing!

  20. I was banded on Tuesday, June 15th. I am still on a clear liquid diet. Yesterday was I was allowed to add 1 Protein shake made with 1% milk. I have been experiencing gas post surgery. I know this is normal and from the gas they used during the surgery. Here is the gross part. Today, i experienced wet gas that was yellow in color. No BM's yet not even the urge to. Could this be from the milk? I've been on Clear liquids for 6 days now. Could the addition of milk be the cause of this? If so, does anyone know how long this will last???
  21. newgmp, I was banded on the 15th as well. My stomach is gurgling too! Wondering when it will stop. No luck yet.

    I'm in Surgery Hell.

I had my surgery on the 15th. I was in horrible pain as well for the 3 days following. Today 5 days post op it was like I woke up and someone flipped the feel better switch. No pain meds now for 24 hours, i acutally took a shower and got dressed into everyday clothes. Told my husband that I needed to get out of this house didn't matter where we went. So he took me to the store and we just walked around then we went to eat and park and they ordered from the menu while I had chicken Soup broth (still on a liquid diet). it felt great. Yesterday I was feeling depressed, asking myself why I did this to myself and regreting the life long decision. then today i felt 100% better. Your body went through more trauma then mine so hang in there and your switch will flip one morning too. It is really amazing how much better you feel overnight.
  23. Don't even think about it!!! I was just banded 2 days ago and i am so sore, a tad bit hungry and gasey. I keep thinking and telling myself that I better make the best of this because I ddin't do this to myself for nothing. Try to think back and remember why you took this journey . . . may help you gat back on track. I'm new to the band but not to dieting and the last few pounds are always the hardest. Look at your calorie intake, your exercise and shake things up. Going to see your doctor is a great step. Best of luck to you
  24. I had surgery on Tuesday morning. Spent the night in the hospital and was discharged on Wed at noon. I'm getting around pretty well but one of my incision sites hurts more then the rest. The smaller ones towards my sides don't really hurt at all. The larger one that is right in the middle below my breast really hurts. If I touch it is seems to be hard and it seems to pull if I stand up straight. Is this normal? I am assuming this is where the band is. I think I can feel it and trace it all the way to my right side where the port is. Just wondering if this is normal???
  25. I was banded yesterday and came home today. feeling good but sore. The pain reminds me of the same pain I had with both of my C-sections. Not feeling hungry yet but wondering if I ate too much. I had 1 cup of chicken broth for lunch and 1 cup for dinner. is this too much? I keep thinking that since its liquid, it will pass through rather quickly but I don't want to over do it. I'm so new at this and just not sure if i'm doing this correctly.
