Pureed Foods = Disgusting!

Vitamins
lots and lots of diff one's to take. i've never been into taking pills or vitamins but this is one i don't forget to take. ty for all the replies.

Is this normal?
i'm about 3 1/2 wks out and i am still on mushies. how in the world could you eat all that and not throw up? if you are hungry and are able to eat that then call the dr and talk to them. the band is just a tool, it's not going to stop your hand from picking up the fork and putting the food in your mouth. you are the one that has to control that- no one else. good luck!!

Vitamins
So are some vitamins better then others? I take OptiSource post bariatric vitamins. A little pricey (27.99 for a 30 day supply and I bought them at Walgreens) but it's ok because I can tell that they are helping. So what do you all take?

How important are the rules really?
I've been reading this thread since it popped up. WOW!!!!! is all I can say...Lots of emotions. Which I believe in 100%. This is a VERY EMOTIONAL subject for everyone involved. It seems we've all been to the point of being overweight and can't do alot about it no matter what we do. The weight will drop and then come back with more attached to it. As I say all the time 'my fat and I, we've bonded. we're best buds' lol. I think the questions everyone has asked are legit. All doctors have different ways of treating there patients and giving advice. Mine won't do the surgery if you are going to continue drinking sodas or alcohol. As he said why waste his time and yours if your not into it 110%. Alot of it is trial and error. What works for one may not work for another. I believe the rules are put in place to help you. Not necessarily hurt you. If you didn't want to loose weight and have a better quality of life then you wouldn't have made the first step to do the research on it and go to the doctor and inquire about it. The way I compensate for the cravings or 'rules' is I tell myself that I'm allergic to it and I can't have it. That way I won't be tempted to eat and/or drink it. So for me that is my rule. I'm sure at one time or another anyone of us will have something we aren't supposed to. BUT I know with me it won't happen again. I have to much invested into this to screw up and throw it all away. If you aren't serious about wanting to loose weight then go have the band taken out and be on your merry way. It's not a miracle band that will make you loose weight. It's a tool to HELP you loose weight. You are the one that is in control of what you put in your mouth. So if you deem that you want sodas, beer, or whatever else your not supposed to have and your not loosing weight then it totally falls back on you. There is no one else to blame but yourself. You are in control of your own destiny.

Simple Poll - If you had it to do over...
I had to fight with tricare for way over a year to have this done. I believe that it was God's plan to make me wait and have it now. I'm only 3 wks banded but I already feel 100% better then I have in a very long time. I know I still have a ways to go and it's going to be hard but I am in it for the long haul. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made for myself. I will go ahead and say yes I was being selfish to get it done but it was for ME. I didn't want to be obese and loose yrs of my life and never see my kids finish growing up, see them get married and have babies of there own. Sorry it's just very emotional for me and with some people that are in my life they just don't get why I did it. Maybe one day they will...

Exercise IS the key!!! :)
You also must remember your weight will go up and down. And another thing is when you are eating such little amounts your body thinks you are trying to starve it so it's going to hang on it everything little bit it has. Thats why sometimes the scale won't move. I've heard of some people eating more calories for a day or two and then going back to what you were doing before. it gives your body a jump start. good luck :tongue2:

hi
Hi. I'm new here and thought I'd go ahead and introduce myself. My name is Gypsy and I live in Lawton, OK. I had my lap-band surgery May 20th at United Regional in Wichita Falls, Tx. Dr Chris Finnell was my surgeon with Dr May assisting. This is all kinda new to me and I'm still trying to figure it all out and not be so darn confused by it all. lol yes that will take time. So far since my pre-op appt I have lost 13 lbs. Really excited about that too .
