    First Fill

I had my first fill yesterday. I had surgery on 05/21/10 so it was just over a month. It was easy and I am glad. I don't like needles and thought I would freak, but I didn't feel a thing. I am hungry today. Trying to stay on liquids and pureed foods, but man am I hungry.
  5. I had my first post op on Thursday the 3rd. The doctor said it is gas pain in the beginning, but I am still having some pain. My doctor said that the band rubs against the muscle which causes pain in my sternum and up through my shoulder/neck area. Understanding this has helped me to do better when eating and making sure things are chewed well.

MAY BANDSTERS ~ How are you doing?

lovetolose I was banded on the 21st. I am actually on regular foods and every day getting better. The first week I wished I had never had this done, but each day gets better and I am glad I did it. What my doctor told me about the pain in my sternim is partly hunger. Even though I didn't think I was hungry, the pain is hunger pain. He also said that the band sometimes rubs against the muscle there and caused inflammation. It also causes pain to go up into my should/neck area. I just thought it was gas and was taking gas x like crazy. I am doing much better now. I go on the 22nd for my first fill. I can't wait. I want to be able to be a little more restricted. Going to start the exercising so I can speed up the weight loss. Best of luck to everyone.
  7. Awesome!!!!! Way to Go.

MAY BANDSTERS ~ How are you doing?

I was banded on May 21st. I have been hungry like crazy. if I don't eat, I am miserable and when I do it, I am miserable. I constantly have a tightness in my sternum. I am having a hard time getting in my protein, liquids, and vitamins. I went and got some unflavored protein powder from GNC to mix with soups. I have trouble with most things, except Tostino's cheese pizza. Strange!!! I eat about two small pizza's (cut in eight pieces) and I am full and satisfied. I know this isn't good since I am only twelve days out. I go back to the doctor on Thursday and will see what they say. I am also having a problem with gas still. Sorry to be so aggrevated about this whole thing. I just keep saying, tomorrow will be better and in a week or two, it will be the best thing I did. I am down 12 lbs.
  9. Is everyone still doing good. I am back to work tomorrow. I am still experiencing a lot of gas. It seems everytime I ride in a car it's worse. I made three trips to Walmart before I could stay long enough to grocery shop. And that was a bit much.

Does the lap band change your bowels?

I have diarrhea like symptoms. Its horrible. I go at least four times a day and it's a burning sensation. I hate having to go to the bathroom. When will this stop.

    I got banded May 18th!!!

I got banded on May 21st. It has been rough. I still feel like I have indigestion all the time. Today was the first day that I could actually go out for more than 20 mins. Just riding in the car makes me hurt. I was hoping I would be better. I am suppose to be going back to work on the 1st and hope that I get better. I am barely able to get the liquids down and getting the full amount of protein, calories, and liquids seems impossible. I can barely get down the clear liquids and I should be starting on full liquids. Even when I do get down my liquids I still feel hungry, but bloated at the same time. I pray that I made the right decision. I can't wait to be skinny(er) but I hope that it hasn't slipped or anything.

    Just another question...pain

I get that pain in my chest/sternum area. It seems when I eat or drink something I have to lay down. And when I ride in the car, it gets really bad. I guess all the gas is pushing its way up.
  13. My surgery is in NC. I wouldn't change it for the world. I know that I will have hit and misses. A few bad experiences doesn't this journey make. I am really optomistic. I had a friend have her surgery two weeks before mine and she is doing great. She said everything I am feeling and experiencing is normal.
  14. I got banded on 5/21. It has been a bad experience. The pain medicine didn't help. I had the as pain and felt like my face was on fire. I used an ice pack and a lot of gas x. Today I feel a little better from the pain and hot flashes. My problem is the pain in my diaphragm. Everytime I take a drink, It feels like it gets stuck. I don't think I am getting all the liquids, protein, and calories that I should be getting.
