Redneck
Hey thanks alot, lol now I am really craving a red beer! I am a Kansas girl you know, so you can keep the fancy fru-fru drinks, there is nothing that beats a cold beer on a hot summer day!!

July 15th!!!! A couple of days into the preop diet - hasn't been too bad unless I am around something that smells really good, though I know it is just head hunger because I am surprisingly not all that hungry right now - just restless. Can't wait to be on the loser's bench with everyone else!!
-
Yaaay Frankie - can't wait to be where you are!!

I am totally intrigued by Hip Hop abs and some day want to take a Zumba class. Right now I have flip flop abs, and can only exercise for a little bit before I am sucking wind lol. Tiffy, I hear you on the knees, I had to have a total knee replacement because of arthritis when I was 40  all the more incentive to get this done and the weight off!

I totally hear you!! I am 42, a nurse in a busy ER. My kids are now both in college and I am newly divorced after 24 years. I am sooooo ready to start putting myself first! I have alot of life left to live and I want to live it to the fullest!! Good luck in your journey, can't wait to read how you are doing!!

Frustrating, isn't it? I am on my preop diet and it is crazy how different the diets can be!
-
HAHAHAHA I am on my preop diet and if I got a Dorito anywhere close to my mouth I would probably lose a finger!!!

I have noticed that there are alot of nurses on this site - not a big surprise since we are very good at taking care of other people, just not so good at taking care of ourselves. I thought it would be fun to start at thread for nurses telling where you are from, what kind of nursing you do, how much you have to lose and when you are/were sleeved, how much you have lost, etc. I will go first lol (I'm not pushy or anything )
I am from Kansas
I am 42 years old
I am an ER nurse
I weigh 295 and my goal is 150-160ish
I will be sleeved July 15th in Mexico - yippeee!!!
-
Isn't it amazing how many of us are nurses? I think it is because we are really good at taking care of other people, but not ourselves! Maybe we should start a thread to see how many nurses there are on here!!

I wear scrubs every day at work, so I would imagine it will take quite a while before anyone notices. Time will tell I guess - I just want to feel better and not feel like I am crammed into all of my clothes!

Preop is getting a little easier - i haven't told alot of people at work that im doing it and when they are eating in front of me the smells of their food drive me craazy!! I could have tackled one of my coworkers for his salad today lol. It's so hard to believe that exactly one week from right now I will be postop!!! I wish I could go to sleep and wake up to have it be that day! I am sooooooo EXCITED!!! Did I mention that I am excited?

Great job on the 8 lbs!! I thought I had lost a few according to my scale, but of course then when I weighed at work this afternoon, fully dressed with shoes on, I weighed MORE - bah!!!!! I am going to have to just pick one scale and stay off of every other one - makes me too crazy! And btw - paint chips can be quite tasty!

Thanks! Lots of great info! Everyone has so many different kinds of preop diets, it is so confusing.

Hi Everyone! Just finished day one of my preop diet - 10 days of liquids, the last 3 days are Clear Liquids. I felt pretty decent all day, then this evening I started getting that restless "I want something to snack on" feeling. I did manage to make it past that, but it wasn't easy! Day 1 down, bring on Day 2!!! lol. I might be eating the paint off the walls before July 15th gets here!!

Ankles......I want ankles!!!!! lol

There is ABSOLUTELY hope!!!! After my last hurrah meal lol, which btw was a shrimp, crab and lobster feast and yummmmmmmy, my friend wanted to go to the mall to Dillards and look for some new pants. As I was walking through all those beautiful "normal" sized clothes, I couldn't help but feel excited that by next summer I could actually be shopping in those very same sections!!! Keep your eye on the prize baby, our new lives will be soooo worth the changes that we make.
I am day one one the preop diet - 10 days of liquids with the last 3 days being Clear Liquids only. I am so excited and ready for this change. I am pretty sure that by the time I leave I will be plenty sick of it haha. I wish you well in your journey and the new life to follow!!!

Ooooh! What a great idea!! I have a netflix acct and am taking my little notebook - I hadn't even thought about watching movies, but I will!!!

Carla - OMG!! I live in a small town with NO stoplights and I have to admit I go
t a chuckle out of the prayer group thing.
Mary - I have thought alot about what I want to tell people when they start to notice the weightloss. In the end, I think I will want to tell people because if it can help someone else, then that would be great. But I also think I need a little time with it for myself, so what I have decided to say until I am ready to tell the rest of the story is that the weightloss has been a very personal thing for me and has been alot of hard work. Both of those things are true, and hopefully by saying it has been a very personal thing, it might keep people from being too nosy. Time will tell.

I haven't ever really thought I was making the wrong decision, I KNOW this is right for me, but I have gone through this roller coaster of emotions. Today I was looking at a JC Penney's sale catalog and the thought that maybe.....just possibly...I could be wearing those shorts and tank tops next year. I could be walking around doing things without feeling worthless and short of breath. It will be so awesome!

Isn't it funny how thinking about the loss of stuffing your face every day almost puts you in a panic? I feel like I am really going to miss all the food after the surgery. I know that's dumb but food has been such a central part of my life for so long, it will really be a big change not to be eating all the time.
