why is that? even with GBS you can still not do what your supposed to still over eat still eat the wrong thing food still cheat. plus GBS is so drastic and has so many complications i wonder why it is still offered...

I need some input for all you out there... about a year ago i had to have a kidney stone surgically removed and when the intubated me my left lung collapsed and woke up with the tube still in me and couldn't breath, i was freaking out and everything. now i don't know if it was because they didn't put the tube in correctly or what but i am afraid of that happening again. do any of you know if that is a common thing or just a random occurance???

Who was your Doc in Mexico and what hospital did you go to??? I'm going to Mexico come Aug 26th will be banded by Dr. Jose Rodriguez at the INT hospital in Tijuana... I am self pay as well and was wondering if something happens (complications need band removal in future) will my insurance pay for it. the wont pay for the lap band at all.

Knowing me i would have my last hoorah but do it a day or so before my surgery but i know my hubby will kill me if i do that... he he

Any other Aug 26'ers out there??? i would like to start a support group since i can't find any here in San Diego that wont take me if i don't get banded from their docs.. i am going to Mexico and need support PM me if you would...:blushing:

My question is why would they even give you a surgery date if your not approved yet??? isn't that just getting your hopes up???

Yay had a really good eating day today...had some major stress but i persevered and didn't eat anything i wasn't suppose to.. @ms_mention... i don't know where you live but there is some bread from Julian Bakery here in San Diego Ca. area that is only 1 net carb per slice. little on the expensive side but if you gotta have bread like i do then it is totally worth it http://julianbakery.com/ is where you can go to check them out... they also do shipping i believe....enjoy...

Thanks guys for your responses... day 2 has been better i felt sleepy around 3pm had a low carb burger from Carl's Jr no cheese and a protein drink.. i feel i need something for a snack but dont know what to eat i think i'll have some nuts or an atkins bar... i need to stay with in 40-50 grams net carbs and yesterday i only had 23 so it looks like i can increase my intake a little... Wow it is not neccesarly a good thing to hear that a person can still get around eating with the lap band but being pre-band it has opened my eyes to how even with the band it's nothing more than a piece of plastic if we dont follow our doc's advice and a sensible diet. your post has given me insight and inspiration i hope that you can get back on tract and start losing for real. i have no advise to give you as far as a menu but i know that you will find a lot of useful advice on this website. good luck!

I am looking for a buddy that will be having surgery the same date as me so we can chat and get incouragement from each other. I choose to start my pre-op 1 week early so i can have a really healthy liver anyone else out there who wants to join me?:wub:

So it seems not everyone has to do a pre-op diet... hummm interesting i dont look forward to my pre-op but in a way i know it will do my liver good to shrink down so i will avoid possible complications. as far as the headaches and other side effects of doing a pre-op diet BRING IT ON.. JK.. it actually scares me S***less i dont wanna turn into a crabby, cranky, headachey b****! so if anyone has advice on how to save my marriage and family from this I highly appreciate it he he... Good Luck everybody..btw my surgery is set for Aug 26th dont have to start my pre-op for 2 weeks in advance but i figure the longer i do it the better my liver will be :rolleyes2:

he he... i am pre-band and have 1 week to go before my pre-op diet and am currently eating what i want when i want cuz i know that come next Monday i will have to stick to my diet and after i'm banded i just wont be able to eat whatever i want. So the question is "What will you miss eating?" for me it will be just about everything, no for real i will miss: Sushi, hamburgers, sweet breads like doughnuts and cakes. but i know that by not eating these things i will lose weight and improve my life! SO CAN'T WAIT FOR MY BAND!!!:scared2:

I am to be banded on Aug 26th at the INT hospital in Tijuana Mexico and was wondering if anyone has gone there and what they felt about the place. I am going through Beliteweight and they have scheduled me with Dr. Jose Rodriguez has anyone had surgery by him? how was he and his staff. I have no fear of Mexico my hubby has had surgeries there as have other members of my family i was just wondering if anyone on these boards have input on the above questions.

Ok, so I am choosing to start my pre-op diet 1 week early not because i wanna lose lbs but i want to really jump start my liver reduction to limit any surgical problems. As of today i have 2 days left to indulge myself and eat all the goodies that i want cuz come monday it's on! Has anyone else done this or am i the only one?
