    Left Shoulder PAIN?!?

It's from the gas and YES, it's terribly painful! I was banded on 4/29 and believe it or not, I STILL have it occasionally - especially when I work out. I asked the dr about it and she explained that the tubing that goes between the port and the band is actually pretty LONG and sometimes will bump up against your diaphram, causing the pain. I find that laying on my left side on the hard floor helps. Hang in there - it WILL subside!!
  4. I was banded almost three months ago and have been single about two years. I am slowing getting back into the "dating game" and I'm wondering - if you've dated since being banded - do you tell them? If so, when?
  5. So that mysterious, horribly PAINFUL shoulder pain is BACK and I'm almost THREE months POST lapband surgery. Could it be because of a recent fill? I'm confused as to why it's happening AGAIN - it HURTS. Noticed it a day or two after my latest fill, after working out. Not a pulled muscle - I REMEMBER THIS pain... Anyone else experience this?
  6. I think this is a GREAT place to share our experiences & have a small "community" of people going through the same thing. I understand the trust issue but if you're going to spend the REST OF YOUR LIFE with this guy, he's going to have to give a little. Maybe coming up with a compromise or letting him review the posts on here. I've YET to see someone get flirty with someone else...in OUR view at least. You're a strong beautiful girl! Don't let this bring you down.
  7. That is COOL! I am feeling okay although my last fill (last week) didn't go so well. It was my 2nd and Amanda filled me WAY too much - ended up at the ER to get an unfill - couldn't even swallow my own saliva. I go tomorrow to get another fill. Weight loss has been kind of slow & disappointing but I am going to kick up the exercise and hope I start to see some big numbers. CONGRATS on your loss so far - do you feel GREAT! How much did you need to lose total?

  8. No, I have the Lap Band - the nurse that does the fills really believes in an aggressive approach (obviously!) - maybe a little TOO aggressive if you ask me! Already wondering how much she'll put back in next week....
  9. SEVEN months?? Why so long & what did you do in the meantime?? that's SUCH a long time!! I dont know WHAT I would do - I'm so frustrated bcuz I have to wait a little over a week to get back on the "horse"!
  10. @ Laura - That sounds terrible! I never thought I'd experience the feeling of not being able to keep your own saliva down - it was truly scary! @ elcee - yes, my nurse is pretty aggressive - she says she wants ppl to get to their "sweet spot" pretty quickly. I'm wondering how much she'll put back in next week. SO glad an unfill doesn't "normally" hurt - I thought he was ripping my stomach out!!
  11. I was banded on 4/29 - had my first fill on 6/7 - nurse put in 4.5 cc's. Yesterday I had an appointment for my 2nd fill - nurse calls the second fill the "oh S**t" fill because by this one your REALLY start to feel the restriction. She put in an additional 2 cc's - for a total of 6.5 cc's. I had my mandatory 2 tiny cups of water before I left the office. The water went down slow but felt okay. On the way home, I started having EXTREME pain (similar to being stuck) and started throwing up around 4:00 PM - was throwing up about every ten minutes and couldnt even swallow my saliva - had to spit into a cup because it was just coming back up. Misery right?? Finally around midnight when I couldnt sleep, I decided I couldnt wait another 8 1/2 hours for the office to open so I went to the ER to get some taken out. The ER doc told me they don't "do" slight adjustments in the ER - they either take it all out or leave it all in. So what could I do? He ended up stabbing me THREE times before he could access the port (SO PAINFUL!!!) and ended up taking 5 cc's out. I was given NO IV fluids, no pain meds, not even a blanket! Talk about a nightmare! So my questions are: does an unfill normally HURT? has anyone experienced an unfill at the ER? how long before you were able to have fluids put back in? I feel like such a FAILURE and like now I have to start ALL over. Now I only have 1.5 cc's in and the office won't see me until next Thursday for a fill.
  12. Hey, I saw Snyder did your surgery. He did mine as well, Congratulations. How are you feeling ? He banded me 4 months ago on Feb 23 ~ I am down 53 pounds and loving it. Hope you are doing well !

  13. Hi Shelby - I'm about where you are (banded on 4/29) and have lost about the same as you - so I wouldnt worry too much about it. A couple of things to remember - we didn't put this weight on overnight and it's not going to come off overnight, either! :bored: Also - the note about Water is KEY - the more water you can take down, the better. I've also found that I can make MUCH better food choices when I add TONS of Benefiber to my water. It dissolves and doesn't taste like anything. I add crystal lite to my water, too which makes it so yummy! I have just started the 'serious" exericise and have my second fill on Monday (I have 4.5 in a 10cc band). Just think...we're on our WAY!! Stay encouraged!!
  14. I was banded on 4/29 and aside from the HORRIBLE GAS PAIN, everything seem to be going GREAT. Last Wednesday I ate some chicken breast (very soft) and when I was in TERRIBLE pain, I thought maybe I had overdone it. I havent experienced the barfing or even nausea yet so I thought it was "my turn". When it wasn't better Thursday but now WORSE, I ended up in the ER on Friday morning. They did a CT and discovered a 7.2 x 4.1 cm HEMATOMA right above my stomach. UGH!! So I followed up with the surgeon today and she said there's really nothing they can do about it. I can apply HEAT and HOPE it goes away in about a MONTH. Seriously it looks like I swallowed a BASEBALL and it's SO uncomfortable. Of course she said it's not all that common. When they put in the port, they must have knicked a blood vessel, causing internal bleeding and now it's hard as a ROCK. They "could" do more surgery but the insision would be HUGE and they would probably have to also take my BAND out. So now I'm supposed to wait for MORE bruising to appear and that means its being reasorbed back into my body. FANTASTIC. OH...and it hurts like HELL to EAT because when I do it presses up on my alien baby.
