I was also banded on June 7 and had the same feelings you had....By day 2 when I got home I had big time regrets. Day 3 felt a little better and now today, I feel great!! Except for the diarrhea that started yesterday. I go to my post op visit on Wed to have staples removed and then I can move forward on my stages of food.....full liquids. Feels like forever before I can eat again!! Good luck to you and remember to stay strong it does get better!!

I am 4 days post op. Today I was sitting at computer with a bottle of diet green tea. I don't know what happened....all the sudden very, very sharp pain in between my breasts but towards the left side. I could hardly breathe...I have never had heartburn before, so still not sure what happened. Took a gas x, pain still there, called my mother to have someone with me....then took a tums, and pain subsided quite a bit, breathing came back to normal. It has been about an hour since it happened, but still have a little pain near left breast....Was this heartburn???:frown:

I was also banded this week, on Monday. Diarrhea started today, at first I thought it was from all the sugar free popsicles that I have eaten. Sugar free items have sugar alcohol which can cause diarrhea....I then looked at all my meds, my Potassium has diarrhea listed as a side effect...So I don't know!!! I see the nurse on Wednesday, at that time I can start the next phase of food....full liquids!! I still have days before I get solid food again:blink:

I am hoping I never have to find out what happens when food gets stuck...lol I was banded Monday, June 7 and I am also feeling well. I don't have much to share with you now, as I am on clear liquids until the 16th, I still have weeks before I am back into foods....hope all is well to you and Good Luck:smile2:

My surgeon makes all his patients take heparin to prevent any blood clots....I also have to wear the stockings until they fall off of me, about 4-6 weeks:sad:

This medication can prevent gallstones in people experiencing rapid weight loss. If you still have your gallbladder I would take the medication. I had my gallbladder removed 8 years ago, I was in a lot of pain. So I did not have to take this medicine....Right now, I am having a hard time taking heparin shots 3x a day for 3weeks!!!

So Sorry to hear that....I hope that you will be okay! And just remember you will be banded!!! At least you still have that to look forward to!:frown:

I almost had the same experience as you....not fun the first 2 days, I actually was having some regrets. Except I am to drink 1oz every 3 minutes, of course I can't!! Sugar free popsicles are wonderful....and I am not allowed protein shakes for 10 days....looking forward to the 16th, just to have a shake. Other than that, I am on clear liquids, 4 days out and no hunger yet!! I'm looking forward to pureed foods!!

Thanks Danielle.....I sent an email to my nurse, she thinks I took too big of a drink, which will cause discomfort: gas bubble. I too am taking gas x....but no prescription meds for it.

Hospital gown, no bra.....my experience was different. It took about 45 minutes to do mine. The barium is disgusting, I had way more than a cup to drink. And about an hour after the test, I had a very bad cramp on my right side that didn't go away for 8 hours, doctor said I had a reaction to the barium. Good luck to you....

I was banded on June 7....3 days post op. I was sooooo miserable the first 2 days, I actually had begun to have regrets, by Wednesday I was feeling better, today, I think I am still experiencing gas pains also. I will be on clear liquids until the 16th and then full liquids.

You know....I do NOT have to be on a liquid pre op diet. So I am not going to say nothing about you not sticking to it.... My surgery is tomorrow.....and I am going to eat good tonight, just not after midnight!!! Stay Strong and I will catch you next week....Good luck!

My surgery is tomorrow, June 7. I had no liquid pre op diet. I just can't eat after midnight tonight. Stop taking all vitamins a week before surgery, as for your other meds....I couldn't tell you. The only other meds I was taking, was birth control pills, I also had to stop those 2 weeks before surgery. I hope that helps a little bit, otherwise make sure you call your surgeon's office tomorrow morning to have your questions answered. Good luck!!

I started my Lapband journey in Feb 2010. The surgeon that I am using, ladies in his office called my insurance for me and then they had me call insurance company to ask what I needed in order to get the lapband. My primary insurance wanted a BMI of over 40, if it is under I had to have co-morbidities and they wanted a letter of medical necessity from my doctor. Secondary insurance only wanted a psych eval and proof that I have been obese for the past 5 years. So, in your case.....I would start out by finding a surgeon and see what they can do for you, or you can start by calling your insurance company and ask what the requirements are for lapband, some insurance's want you to be on a diet for 6 months, so they all vary......Good Luck!! :thumbup:

Wow....I am sooooo glad I found this thread. I have gained 11.9 pounds (according to my wii fit), since my physical for surgery in March....I don't know if I just keep eating and don't stop because I know that surgery is coming...or what!!! I am relieved that I am not the only one.....My surgeon does not require a preop liquid diet. So I guess I will be "last mealing" it all weekend :thumbup: Surgery is scheduled for Monday June 7th...Thank God!!!! I can't wait to stop this compulsive overeating. Good luck to everyone!

Good luck to you Kira....It also took me a few months to get everything done! I work for a school district so I was planning on having surgery after school ended, since I have all summer off....Today was the last day!!! YAY....surgery is on Monday June 7th. If you take a look through this forum and check out all the before and after pictures it will truly motivate you to get this done!!! I have been inspired by the pictures, I can't wait to post my pics....Too bad about the wait for the surgeon, maybe you can schedule surgery now, by the time it comes around, you will have finished all your other requirements. My surgery is scheduled for June 7....I am also afraid of not being a success. This past month....I kid you not, I have not stopped eating. I have literally gained at least 10#. I don't know what is wrong with me!! I have been waiting a long time to be banded and I can't wait for Monday to come. I believe it is the right decision for me. It is a great tool for anyone that is overweight. If it was up to me, in your situation....I would take this remarkable tool with me to OA. At least you will have something to control the overeating. Cool website....what is the name of it?? If I were you, I would start out by calling that Dr's office and see what their procedures are. And yes there are payment options with my surgeon, so I am sure there are for other surgeons. Good luck to you!

My paperwork was submitted to both of my insurances on April 22....primary insurance approved April 28 and secondary approved about 1 week later. My surgeon said they have never seen more than 3 weeks for approval.

I am scheduled for June 7 and I have no pre-op liquid diet!! I wonder why that is??? I am not complaining....post op liquid diet will be enough for me!!! Good Luck All....
