  2. Happy 48th Birthday Talktime!

  3. I was at 6.2 CC;s in a 7 CC lapband and felt no restriction at all and can eat everything and I never feel full. I went to the doctor today for another fill and he told me I should be feeling something so he checked and I did has fluid in my band (he took some out) so now he thinks when he did one of my past fills (i've had 4 so far) that some of the liquid might have bubbles out the top of the port when he was filling it and got absorbed into my tissue. The problem now is he doesn't know how full my band is now!!!!! He put another 0.6 in this morning and told me if I start to throw up or anything over the weekend to go to the hospital but I came home and tried eating and I can eat everything still (big bites) and still fill no restriction. Does anyone have any suggestions to me on what I should tell him to do now, he didn't really say to much and just booked me into see him in a month.
  4. Hello...I'm from Vancouver, BC I had the surgery done on July 28th, 2010. My medical didn't cover it but it is useable on your taxes as a dedcution. Either way its alot of money but TOTALLY worth every penny. I was heading into a life were everything I did was a challenge because of the weight. I figured I would use the money now to make my life healthy and enjoy it to the fullest or it would be going to my funeral expenses instead. I am 5'3' and was 285.5 lbs at surgery and now I am 248 lbs. I already am feeling so much better and it was the best descision in my life. The band is not an easy fix but it sure does help you control your portions and wrap your head around what food does to you. Anyways good luck with your surgery !

    hate this wait!!

I hope that you have done your research on the lap band. For anyone wanting a quick fix....its just not gonna happen! The lap band is a tool to help you lose weight. It requires work both with your body and your brain. Remember there are two orgin involved with the weight loss. People have been know to gain weight with a lap band. ie: your eat poorly like milkshakes, etc and it won't work for you. It is slow steady process with gradual weight lose over a long period of time. Sorry if I sound negetive but I sometimes worry that people go into this thinking its easy and the weight will just fall off you. That being said it was the smartest thing I ever did and I have no regets. I hope you acheive all your weight loss too and remember it takes time.

    banded 1 week now

Sara...If you can go to the open chat listed at the top of the page. I was banded July 28th, 2010 and have found it to be a great support system. There you can ask people how have gone through it any question you want and they always give great advice back. I have also had private side chats within this site with people who had surgery at the same time as me and that has really helped. You will find in the chat that most guests seem to know each other and talk about many other things, but when i type in that i'm needing help or answers to question..they always come right to my rescue with answers...you just have to say ...."can someone help me with this problem or question I have" anyways best of luck with your journey and stay positive!

    Got my Lap Band!!

Believe it or not...but toothpaste gently rubbed on the glue around the incisions makes it so easy to just wipe off!
  8. Ok there the scoop...keeping in mind everyone is different. I was banded July 28th, 2010.. After weeks of stress and concern , it really turned out to be no big thing. I was slightly sore for about 3 days but could do everything that I needed to do by myself. And after 3 days I was driving, shopping and doing what I did before, but just took it easy...Like no marathon shopping but just going to the local market and back. Anyways it now been approx 3 weeks and I feel great...I'm down 14 lbs and having no problems. I wish I had done this years ago. So I hope this helps settle your nerves and just enjoy the next week or so. Oh and by the way after they removed my bandages it turned out the incisions are really tiny...2 small ones about 0.5 inch each and two slightly larger ones about 1 inch each...I had to laugh when I saw...I thought thats it! Cheers Brenda
