  1. That is all really great advice. Do try to increase your dairy (like low fat fromage frais and yoghurt) and cut out anything which is high in fat like nuts etc. maybe even 0.5ml out will help - good luck. let us know how you get on, the misery you describe is all too familiar so I feel your pain x
  2. hiya I had my surgery on May 5th and had acid problems / suspected ulcer beforehand. I also take a lot of medication for bipolar disorder. As soon as I had my adjustment, the acid reflux got so bad I ended up having the band emptied and having an endoscopy. It showed bad erosion but no ulcer thank god. I had my band adjusted up again a fortnight ago and the acid reflux started again - so bad that I threw up constantly, particularly after drinking on an empty tummy or taking my meds. I saw my dietician and he said two simple rules - no foods high in fat (I had been told nuts would help - wrong) and lots of dairy. My diet had practically no dairy in it. I now have a miniature low fat fromage frais or yoghurt with every meal / medication dose and my acid problems are gone completely. if you are suffering give it a go, I would never have believed the difference it has made. x PS my weight loss whilst all of this has been going on has been pants but is starting to kick in at last!
  3. hi - I had my surgery the same day as you and had the same bm problem. because I'm normally as regular as clockwork I was getting a bit concerned so last night I liquidised some prunes in juice and they have totally done the trick!! hope this works for you as well but don't worry, as everyone else has said if there's not much going in, there won't be much coming out either

    chest pressure

I hope it gets better soon and it does sound like it might be a normal thing after a fill from what I've read. However I work in the NHS here in the UK and they drum into us here that chest pain shouldn't be overlooked - so if it gets worst, spreads to your arm or if you get any other symptoms like difficulty breathing then call your doctor or emergency services to check. better to be safe (but I'm sure you knew this) good luck x

    Pre-op diet

hello all just wanted to say hi, and good luck to anyone having their ops this week. I had mine on Wednesday and thanks to my pre-op my surgeon said I was absolutely text book, went in at noon, was 40 mins in theatre, 2 hours in recovery and was up and walking by 5pm. I was really lucky and had little pain apart from trapped wind. I asked my surgeon and he said its nothing to do with the gas they use in the op, its just the natural gas your gut produces getting trapped because you're empty. So get on the wind / gas relief tablets as soon as possible! Apart from that I'm home now, exercising every day, driving already and feeling really great. Plus i've lost 5.4kg now which is about 12lbs so I'm pretty pleased! Good luck x

    Pre-op diet

that's fantastic well done! I just went and weighed myself and I've lost 3kg in total so I'm getting there slowly. I was expecting to have lost a stone on this diet though, its so harsh! keep up the good work!

    Pre-op diet

I'm on day 11 on a pre-op very low energy diet and I've only lost 4 stinking pounds! so I sympathise with you all, our reward will be sometime in the future when it will all drop off in one go! I'm so hungry though

    Just needed to celebrate

You look absolutely fantastic! That's just inspired me so much! thanks for sharing your pics, and well done, you've done marvellously!
  9. Its probably just a reaction to your pre-surgery nerves. Are you feeling completely positive about your op? I'm bipolar so suffer from depression regularly and its horrible. But it doesn't tend to land on you very suddenly so I think you'll probably be feeling much more positive tomorrow. Remember the golden rules of treating anxiety / depression / stress face your fears be more active watch the booze hope this helps, and good luck with your op, I'm having mine the same day!
  10. hello all. I'm having my op on Wednesday, I'm in Glasgow in Scotland so probably quite far from you all in distance but expect the op is the same. I'm not nervous but I am REALLY hungry, this pre-op diet would test anyone! Am thinking of you all going through your ops this week - I'll let you know how I get on!
