  1. I'd argue that you are not the same person. As you lose the weight, you project more confidence, happiness and probably are more out-going. I know people respond to that energy.

Whenever we feel good about ourselves, others feel good about us too.

I so agree with this. :nono:

  2. Your story could be my very own. I ended up moving from lapbandtalk to verticalsleevetalk and getting a sleeve. Couldn't be happier.

BTW, according to Dr Aceves nurse, they do just as many band to sleeve revisions as they do sleeves...

When I decided I was going to do something about my weight a couple months ago I had no idea about the VSG procedure. I do not know anyone personally that has had it ...at least nobody has told me they had it. I was actually posting on the lapband talk website when the ads for the VSG procedure kept popping up and I got curious. After reading back and forth between the two sites and then thinking of the people that I know of with the lap band I was really excited about the VSG procedure. I was concerned with the cutting of the stomach but once I was explained the procedure and watched a couple of video's on them actually being done I was more at ease with the safety of the sleeve.

I was concerned with the band slipping and getting fills and being overfilled and on and on with the issues that can pop up with the band. It appears to me with the sleeve that once you get it and you recover it is a done deal as far as the complications. The band can be great then suddenly you get overfilled and your on a roller coaster figuring out how to get it back to being comfortable. Then you get sick and start vomitting and the band slips and you get all sorts of secondary issues.

I like the once and done finality of the VSG. I don't want to be wondering if and when the band may just turn around and kick my a$$.

  3. I was wondering if someone from each stage of banding (before, week following, 2 weeks after, 3 weeks after and 4 weeks after) would be willing to post what your day looks like. I'm not asking for exact foods eaten, but maybe something like this:

    8am Protein shake

9am started Water, sip 64 oz over the course of the day

10am drank more from Protein Shake

    11am treadmill - 20 minutes

    etc

See, I've read all the material and it's in my head but I'm just not sure how to keep it in front of me. My surgery is 2 weeks away.

    Thanks in advance.

  4. I can totally relate!! I just got my fills right after being banded Dec. 29, 09. I am so afraid to eat in public. I never know when I will get plugged!!! It is not a pretty sight, oh my!! My hsb. loves to eat out, but I've told him to give a little while to get use to this. Let me know if yours gets better.:w00t:

I'm not banded yet so please forgive me for not knowing but what do you mean 'plugged'? Does this happen often??

  5. My low life doctor quoted me a price of $16500 (all inclusive) when I called to get pricing for lap band surgery. I make an appointment, then go to a nutritionist per his instruction (additional $250), go to a general doctor (per his instruction) for a letter of medical necessity and ekg (additional $300) and how he's telling me that they have gone up on their price $3000.

So, can anyone recommend a doctor in Mexico? I hear they do the surgery for around $7000 (all inclusive).

  6. Secondly, the constant gurgling in the chest is just flat out annoying. Nobody told me that this was going to be a permanent situation, and it's caused some socially awkward moments too. Heck, I've had people in the next office ask me what that sound was!

Does this happen to everybody that is banded?
