Suddenly feeling....yuck
My surgery was 5/22 and I've been feeling great ever since. Last night as I was laying down to bed, my tummy hurt. Well, not exactly my tummy...more like my chest. Kind of like heartburn, but not really. Sort of a light pressure on my chest. I didn't sleep well last night because of it. Now today, my tummy feels kind of barfy. Not really sore, but more like sour stomach. Here are the things I did yesterday that I think could have caused it: 1. I started taking a PPI yesterday (Pepcid), whereas I hadn't been taking one before. 2. I put Sriracha hot sauce in my Soup. 3. I was bending over adjusting cables in the back of our entertainment center, and maybe overdid my core muscles. Any thoughts on which of these things (if any) could have caused this icky feeling? I am bummed today, because I've been feeling so good.

Regret telling people at work
Makes you wonder...if someone needed a breast reduction medically, would these same haters tell that woman she's taking the easy route and to suck it up and carry those boulders around?

Dang...wish I knew about that hydrochic site before! Could have gone swimming without embarrassment long ago!

Really bummed out right now...
It took me 3 years to find the financial means for my sleeve. Persevere, and it will pay off! I promise!

5/18 post op
Everyone is different. I was only sore for 3 days or so. I think it depends on your independent physiology, where the incisions are, if you had a drain, etc.

food taste different?
I find that the artificial sweeteners in the shakes leave a weird, sweet taste in my mouth that's kind of gross. A similar taste can also be from ketosis.

Unexplained bruising 5 months out
Definitely have them check your iron levels! Many WLS folks require an iron supplement.

sleeved may 6th..this is tough!
When I find myself getting frustrated, I remind myself that my sleeve is for life. This means I have a lifetime ahead of me where I'll be able to eat normal food (albeit in smaller amounts.) This transitional phase is a blip on the radar, and is already working its way into the rear view. My life right now is not indicative of my life in the future.

hungry?
Have you tried the ready-to-drink Muscle Milk? I find it far more palatable than the powders. A little high in carbs, but at least it's something!

Unexplained bruising 5 months out
It could be something like vitamin b12 deficiency, but easy bruising can also be caused by more serious things like leukemia. Best to visit the doctor for a blood test to make sure everything is ok with your counts.

Hunger hint
This is great advice. I find that what I think is hunger is sometimes just me thinking I SHOULD be hungry.

ladies only please
Thanks so much for asking this! My period started a few days after surgery, and it was thick, black blood (more like blobs). I think some of that comes from being a little dehydrated, but I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that experienced this!!

mf vs wls
I did Medifast and lost 100 pounds. After I went into transition, I gained it all back in less than a year. If you can make the mental changes needed to sustain long-term, Medifast is great. I found out that I needed help, and the sleeve is the method I'm using to control my eating long term.

Food post op
I see so many people saying they're eating hummus...what do you eat it with? Or do you eat it alone?

That's a brilliant idea!!

RNY to sleeve?
You can certainly lose 130 pounds with the sleeve---many here have done it. But yes, you will need to take vitamins for the rest of your life.

If I can eat a 6" subway at 5 months, how much at a year? :(
I worry I'm going to be one of those people that can still eat like a cow, even with their sleeve. I'm only a week out and I can already drink liquids pretty quickly and can gulp with no pain. I'm really looking forward to solid foods so I can feel the restraint of my sleeve!
