    Gabapentin

My only side effect with Gabapentin is that it makes me a little wonky if I take too much. Like I get a little too talkative and too outgoing. And a little fuzzy-headed. But other than that, it's not bad. My Topamax side effects were baaaaad.

Has anyone cane home the same day as surgery?

I did my surgery outpatient. I didn't go "home" because it was in a different city, but I did go right back to the hotel the same day.

    People treat me different now

In our society, most people few larger folks as less attractive than slender ones. Here's an interesting article about a study Dateline did on how people treat "Unattractive" vs. "attractive" people: http://www.nbcnews.com/id/3917414/ns/dateline_nbc/t/face-value/
  12. My surgeon also put in some sort of material to cover the staple line. I think he essentially described it as being cow stomach, and he said the body would just absorb it eventually but it prevents leaks during the healing process. I was a little horrified, but it makes sense.

    Not so supportive boyfriend...

Do a forum search for "easy route" or "easy way out" and you'll see that unfortunately many (if not most) of us have faced this accusation from friends or family.

    Gastritis

Anyone experience pretty severe gastritis while healing after their surgery? If so, just wondering what you did to cope. I've been taking 40 mg Prilosec, Pepto 2x per day, and using a heating pad.

There has got to be a better way

Another good way to get in protein is to mix Silken Tofu into your smoothies.
  20. The only difference is the women's mags don't usually feature any full monty shots. The articles are certainly graphic, though!

    Gastritis

I was checked for h. pylori prior to surgery. I don't have a gastroenterologist, but if things don't get better I'm sure I'll get one I'm much better today than even this weekend, so I think the "regular" PPI is working. I wasn't on one before.
