    Any May 2010 Bandsters?

Great job Fellow May Bandsters!! I was banded on May 6th and I am down 52lbs!! I am feeling great--still have a challenge with getting all my protein though. My last fill provided great restriction!! I can eat no more than a half a cup of anything and maybe 3 oz. of meat. I work-out at the gym at least 3-4 times a week and I just started doing Zumba Fitness! I was a size 24 and now can comfortably wear a size 18--on my way to size 16 and XL shirts--yippee!!!!! I enjoy all the compliments and support! I am so glad that I made the decision to have WLS!!!! Continued success to everyone and keep up the good work!!!

No scale victories are the best...here are a few of mine: being able to comfortably cross my legs:smile: my diamond ring that I wear is loose and will have to be resized:smile: When at the movies, I can fit my purse in my seat and don't have to put in the seat next to me. I can also put on and pull off my pants without unzipping them:smile: I can feel and see my collar bones:smile: Being able to shop in other stores and am not limited to Lane Bryant and the like:smile: My car even seems too big!!

    Sweet spot!

I think we are in the same boat. I received my fourth fill (for a total of 4.5 cc's in a 10 cc band) on last Thursday. I eat about 4 oz of meat and thats it!!! I manage to fit some of my protein shakes in to supplement my protein intake! The first day after my fill, I thought I was too tight and was contemplating having some fluid removed, but I realized that I had to eat just a little slower and take very small bites--since I have been doing that all seems to be going very well!!!! I have lost about 6 pounds since last week (I am working out at the gym also) and I feel fantastic! I am down a total of 51 lbs and was banded on May 6th.
  4. Hi Michelle!!! Wow!!! Port Revision!!! I hope all goes well! Let us know how you are doing. As for me, I am doing great. I get my 3rd fill on tomorrow--which I am hoping will put me at my "Sweet Spot"...YAY!!!! Exercising is going well also! How did you know that your port flipped? Was it discovered during your fill or were you experiencing problems prior?

    What are you eating?

I have been banded since May 2010. My daily meals consist of the following: Breakfast: a small bowl of cereal (Special K with soy milk - about 1 cup), lunch: soup - 1 cup (of any type--although I stay away from the creamy soups - chowders, etc), Dinner: protein - chicken breast or turkey and some fruit. I also eat the single serve pouches of tuna. I will occasionally have a lettuce wrap which is a leaf of romaine lettuce, sliced turkey breast and a slice of cheese. I make sure to drink plenty of water as well. The sugar-free popsicles are still a treat for me--I really enjoy them!:tt2:

    Any May 2010 Bandsters?

Thanks! The fill was done under Flouroscopy so she was actually able to see the band and the Fluid. I had to drink barium as she filled the band. Based on the amount of fluid going through, she was able to see and determine when enough was enough--she did not want to fill it too tight--I was told that tight is not always right. I do know that she withdrew all the fluid from the band first to determine how much was actually in the band and then she put that fluid plus the .6cc.
  7. I supplement my diet with Isopure Ready to Drink as well. I will sip on a bottle througout the day--one bottle contains 40g of protein. I try to get the majority of my protein by eating tuna, turkey(deli slices and turkey burgers), eggs and beans. The Isopure has been a great help--I just can't do the shakes anymore--I am "protein-shaked" out!!..LOL!!

    Any May 2010 Bandsters?

I received my first fill on yesterday. The doctor was only able to add .6cc to my band--so I have a total of 2.6 cc's in my band--doesn't seem like much but I can tell the difference in how much I can eat today as opposed to days before. I joked with the doctor and told her to "fill 'er-up"...lol but much to my surprise they couldn't even add a full cc---has anyone else experienced this??? I am down a total of 25lbs. It has been one month since my surgery and I think the amount of weight I have loss is not bad considering half of that time was spent healing from my procedure. Now that I have been given the "ok" to start full workouts and I am sure that I will see the pounds drop! Hope everyone else is experiencing success at some level!
  9. I am scheduled for my first fill on June 8th. Although I know I am eating more than I did the first couple weeks after surgery, I am able to recognize when I have had enough food--usually about 1 cup. I am certainly not eating near as much food as I did before I had this surgery and I think I am doing well with making good food choices--I stay away from carbs & sugars. I eat lean meats (turkey and chicken), still eating Soups and have incorporated veggies and fruit, those sugarfree popsicles are still a lifesaver. Somedays I will substitute a Protein shake for a meal. My treat is a Laughing Cow low fat swiss cheese wedge with one flatbread cracker--it so good!!! I am now walking 2 miles a day and doing light cardio--I can't wait until I get the okay to do full cardio exercises! I have lost about 27lbs since the start of my weightloss journey(about 6 weeks) and I am proud of that!!! One thing that I constantly remind myself of is that the Lap Band is a tool and no matter whether I have restriction or not, It is up to me to make good choices and become physically active--Lapband +proper food choices + portion control + exercise + change in mindset =weightloss success. I hope with my next fill I get more restriction but until I reach my "sweetspot" (and even after) I have to keep in mind that my success in this whole journey is ultimately up to me. Be encouraged everyone--this is a process and takes committment & dedication!! Bellaisgreat let us know how your fill goes~~
  10. Hi Michelle, Just checking to see how things are going. This week Thursday will make 3 weeks for us. I am down 22lbs.Yay!!!! How are you doing with eating...I am probably eating things I shouldn't at this point but I am maintaining...most times I feel restriction, but somedays I don't.....either way, I try to stick to it and stay on target!!!! Hope to hear from you!!

  11. Had my surgery yesterday (5/6/10). Everthing went well. I don't remember anything--just being rolled into the OR and waking up in recovery. I also had a hernia repair--I did not even know I had a hernia. Experienced that awful gas pain in the shoulder yesterday, bit it is much better today. I am trying to keep hydrated--drinking Water, eating sugar free popsicles, Jello and had a little amount of beef broth. Today I ate about an ounce of a banana. I have a follow-up appointment tomorrow morning. I can't believe I am banded!!!! So glad that my surgery went well. The doctor said he was pleased with my pre-op diet....I lost 9 pounds during the pre-op diet--Yippee!!!
  12. I know!!! I am so excited and nervous all at the same time!! I wish you all the best and a safe surgery:smile:. I haven't weighed myself so I am not sure how much weight I have lost, but my close are fitting very loosely. I've had some struggles as far as cheating a little, but for the most part, I have stayed on course. Did you do well with your pre-op?
  13. I too, am getting banded on May 6th at Lovelace Westside Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. My procedure is at 10am. Good Luck to all during this process!!!:thumbup::blushing:

    Any May 2010 Bandsters?

I am a May-Bander too! My surgery is scheduled for May 6th. Started my pre-op diet on April 23rd--two protein shakes (BariatricAdvantage) and 1 serving of soup (any kind except for creamy soups) each day. While I have not been hungry--I just crave things that I know I can't have like sweets or something crunchy and fried..lol!!! Every now and then I will eat a few ounces of baked chicken breasts. I also take a calcium supplement, a chewable vitamin and drink plenty of water. I am excited about being banded!!!! I can't wait until my new beginnings!! I wish everyone wellness and success on this journey!!!:scared2:
