  1. What happened to me: I had chronic heartburn for about 6 months. I really didn't think too much of it at first but then I ended up in the ER with chest pain. No heart attack; stress test and echo normal. Upper endoscopy showed the band was not positioned in the right place and some erosion. Barium swallow confirmed slipped band. I think the radiologist said it was the worst slip he has seen! Went to surgeon for unfill. He said that the slip was so bad, an unfill wouldn't resolve it. I am scheduled for removal and replacement on 7-14. I have gained all but 10 lbs back of the 56 lbs I lost. I am starting all over again :Angel_anim:

  2. Heartburn, but mine mimicked esophageal reflux really. I didn't have gut pain but jaw and chest pain from it. I ended up in the ER in December to be sure there was nothing wrong with my heart. I had a stress test on New Year's Eve! No cardiac issues though!

Now, of course, I wish I had talked to the band doc when the heart burn first started and then I could have maybe avoided another surgery.

    Thanks for your good wishes!

  3. I have confirmation of a slipped band. Symptoms: bad heart burn and weight gain. Too much of my stomach is above the band. I have a friend who has a slipped band from persistent vomiting. Her's has slipped up so that she has a hard time keeping food down and she has gained back weight, too.

I had an upper GI series and endoscopy to confirm. The doc totally unfilled my band and gave me my options: take out the band, replace the band or gastric bypass. I am opting for a new improved band since mine is almost 6 years old.

  4. I have confirmation from a barium swallow that I have a big slip. I have chronic heartburn and weight gain

They are unfilling my band tomorrow to see if that will correct the slip, if not, they will have to surgically correct.

Just be aware, symptoms can be so different from person to person. If you don't feel right, call your doc.

  5. There are a couple of reasons for my weight gain, but I suspect the biggest one is the slippage. My pouch is larger than it should be and not having it checked last year just made the weight gain worse. On top of that, a couple of years ago I underwent infertility treatment and gained about 25 lbs from the hormone injections.

I am looking forward to getting back on track and getting this weight off once and for all.

  6. Hi ....I haven't been on in a while now. I was banded 11/4/02. I didn't go for any fills last year since my insurance plan changed at work and no coverage for anything related to weight loss. In December, I had to go to the emergency room with chest pain. After a visit to the cardiologist, it's been determined that my pain was caused by chronic heartburn. I had an endoscopy this week and the doc said I have some minor erosion and probable slippage. They are setting up the barium swallow to determine how bad the slippage is. The doc said I had too much gastric tissue above my band :smile2:

Originally, I had lost about 60 lbs but now I have gained back 40 of those and only down 20 lbs.

Any advice before I go for the barium test? Should I just do liquids to see if that helps?

  7. I was down to 212 which was a 50 lb loss but I have regained. I had no insurance coverage for fills since 1/1/07. I had a 3.8cc fill in December. I am sure that has all evaporated by now. What happened? Failed infertility treatments, depression....I can't afford to pay out of pocket for fills so I have this tool I can't use.

  8. Not even sure if I belong in this group anymore. I was banded nearly 5 years ago and down about 40 lbs. I have gained 20 lbs in the two years. My insurance plan changed and didn't cover any services related to bariatric surgery so I haven't had a fill in 6 months :-( I did get back to exercising after knee surgery in December 2006, so I think I'm getting back on track here.

    Please help me!

  9. I haven't done as well as I had hoped I would. I had to have my port replaced in 2004. I am happy that even though I haven't lost as much weight as I wanted to this point (I haven't given up), I have kept it off:clap2:

Please don't let my failure to lose oodles of weight, hold you back.
