Thanks for the info! I am going to check those out today! The ones at Walmart use to be 11 something here and just recently went down to 9 something. They also sell singles too. If anyone is interested in trying them out without having to buy a 6 pack.
  2. I am doing great! Thanks for asking! I have pretty much been back to normal since about day 4 post op, or at least as normal as normal can get lol. My first post op is scheduled for Monday May 3rd. I have been on soft foods since Monday 4/26 and doing very well. Keep up the good work and keep me posted!

  3. Hey I just wanted to check in and see how you were doing! I hope that all is well and that you are recovering ok!

I get a 6 pack box for $9.96 + tax! I have tried several different ones from GNC and I couldn't tolerate the taste but the one I get from Walmart doesn't taste bad to me at all. Which one do you get from GNC? Maybe it is one that I haven't tried yet.

Have you tried the protein bullets? (2.9 oz with 26g protein) The ones that I buy are fruit punch flavored. I get them at Walmart. The container looks like a giant plastic test tube with a screw top lid. I find that they are so much easier to consume because it is only a couple of ozs., they don't taste bad and they are very easy to drink. Maybe this may help?

    post-op ..home care

I was banded on 4/19. My husband would have loved to stay home with me for a week too, but he had just returned to work 2 days before my surgery. He had been out of work for almost 3 weeks recovering from prostate surgery. He was quite worried about me! I had to spend the night in the hospital because my insurance required it. I went home the next morning and after he got me settled at home he went to work. Then for the next few days he went in to work a few mins late so that he could stay home in the morning to get our son ready for school and off on the bus so that I didn't have to worry about that in the mornings. I personally didn't have any problems with that but that was just me. The experiences here vary so greatly that it is hard to say just how you will feel when you come home. It also has alot to do with how much you tolerate pain. I wish you the best on your surgery and a speedy recovery!

    Hiccups

I was banded on the 19th and I too was having that burp hiccup thing going on. I discovered that it was happening when my stomach was empty. It is not a very comfortable feeling. It makes me feel bloated and full but again like I said my stomach would be empty. I found that if I would have some broth or soup it would instantly go away and my stomach feels normal again. It is like a backwards effect! lol
  9. My surgery was 19th also and I was told to talk a stool softener in the morning and then again in the evening. I was also told to call if I hadn't had a bowel movement in 2 or 3 days after I got home. I would say that it was about day 3 or 4 days before anything happened! I hope this helps!

    How many of you.....

I just had my surgery on 4/19 and I had to stay the night because my insurance required it. Now after having spent the night, I think that I would have much rathered to have gone home. I didn't get any rest while there because it felt like someone was coming in the room every 15 mins. whether it was to take my vitals or change an IV bag or whatever. I was glad to get to go home just to be able to rest!!! I couldn't get out of the bed to go to the bathroom or to get up and walk the halls without calling the nurse's station and waiting on them to come to my room. The doctors want you up and walking as soon as possible but I had to wait a few hours for the nurse before I could get up. So again, I truely think that I would have much rathered to have come home the same day!
  11. Hi! Sorry I didn't see your message before surgery! I hope that your surgery went well and I also hope that you have a very speedy recovery! My surgery was perfect! I came home this morning. I have just a little gas pains but other than that I can't complain too much!

  12. Thanks for the thoughts! I just saw the note. I am doing well and I hope that you are too! I wish you a very speedy recovery.

  13. Tomorrow is finally the day!!!! Good luck to you all! I have to be at the Surgery Center at 7:45am. I also found out at my pre op appointment that because of my insurance I have to spend the night so I will not be able to come home until Tuesday! I wish all of you the best of luck tomorrow and a very speedy recovery!!! Be sure to stay in touch! Pam

    soda

I was told by my surgeon that the reason for them not wanting you to drink carbonated drinks is because of the gas they can cause in the pouch that the band creates. If you create to much gas from the carbonated drinks over time it can stretch the pouch and even cause the band to slip. The nutritionalist that I had to see told me that I could have a soda now and then but to try to open it and leave it out for a few mins or even stir it a little before I drink it so that it is not so bubbly. Hope that helps!

I had my pre op yesterday and was told that because I have BCBS that they require my to stay overnight even though my surgery is at 7:30AM. I have to admit that I was quite disappointed about that too!!! I found out yesterday at my pre op that I had lost 16.6 pounds after 8 days of pre op diet! YEA ME!!! Good Luck to you an the 19th!!! I will be thinking about you when I go in. Anyone else here scheduled for the 19th too?

    Insurance timeframe

I also have BC PPO. I asked them how long it took before I even started the process. They told me that once they received all the paperwork that was required it would only take about 3 days for an answer. My paperwork was faxed over to the insurance company on a Friday afternoon and I called the insurance company on Tuesday. They told me that the system showed that it was pending and that I could call back tomorrow to see if it had posted. I called back the next day and it had been approved! I asked them to please fax the letter to the Dr.'s office for me and she said no problem. So, while I was on hold she printed the letter and walked to the fax machine and faxed it for me right then! I then called my Dr.'s office and they had received my letter from the insurance company and they scheduled my surgery date right then and there! So, I think that if you contact your provider they can tell you directly how their process works because all insurance companies are so different! I just had my pre op appointment this afternoon and my surgery will be first thing Monday morning! 4/19/10

    April Bandster Bunnies

Hi everyone! My name is Pam and I just joined this group today. I am on day 8 of my 14 day pre op diet. I have my pre op appointment tomorrow afternoon and my surgery is scheduled for 4/19/10! I have lost 13 pounds since starting my pre op diet 8 days agos and looking forward to many more! The pre op diet has been difficult but at the same time not as bad as I thought that it would be. My son has been home from school on Spring Break and my husband is home from work recovering from surgery. He has to spend most of his time in the bed so I am pretty much cooking three meals a day right now for the two of them. I think that has been the hardest part so far. I have been using Body Fortess Super whey Protein Shots. It has 26 grams of protein in only 2.9 oz. of liquid to drink, no fat, no sugar and only 1 gram of carbs. It is quick protein without having to drink a whole Protein shake. Sorry for the long post. I just wanted to take the time to introduce myself to everyone. I look forward to getting to know everyone here! Good luck to everyone here on their own journey!!! Thanks, Pam
