  1. I found the first 5 days to be horrible.. I too had a same day discharge.. Day one and two I barely remember because I was taking Percocet around the clock ever 4 to 6 hrs...Only getting up for sips of liquid... Day 3 and 4 were painful but I started to move more.. By day 5 I felt pretty good... BE CAREFUL around day 7.. I felt so good I didnt listen to my surgeon and started to do too much around the house and got severe pain for a day... I think I may have popped a stitch internally.... I am one of the lucky ones in that I was able to get my surgeon to keep me out of work 6 weeks. I do lifting at work. I am now 4 weeks post op and still occasionally get left shoulder pain.. There is no way I could have gone back to work in 4 or 5 days... Ask for atleast 2 or 3 weeks because it is about there you will feel stronger, mentally better and physically better. GOOD LUCK.. and hang tough.
  2. I am 4 weeks post op today... down 20 lbs since surgery and 70 lbs from my highest weight. I feel like I took 10 years off my age. .. And would Definatley do it again. I already feel great.. But it is HARD AS HELL.. it is not a easy walk in the park and it took me 5 years to decide.... My only regret is waiting so long to do it...
  3. Thanks.. I decided to go with only face powder and a clear lip gloss today and have 2 get togethers with my girlfriends to test their reactions... Lol.. I am hopeful that your less is more is true....
  4. Today I was having a conversation with my boyfriend and the topic came up about why I feel the need to where so much make up.. He was kind enough to remind me I am beautiful with out it, but I realized that I do it because when I was at my biggest, no clothes looked good on my and I guess to look polished and pretty I used make up.. Now that clothes are starting to look going but I am still seeing myself as the much heavier person who needed make up to feel pretty.. Even though people tell me all the time I am pretty.. can anyone comment on when the issues about past body image start to fade if ever..
  5. Sorry to hear all that.. But it sounds like she has an addictive personality ie the gambling.. etc... Maybe you should stop enabling her by doing everything around the house and raising the kids alone... Dont settle for coparenting and her having sex outside the marriage. Talk to her. If she wont, then sad enough, you may have to walk away to find yourself. May I suggest you read "Codependent no more. " Great book.
  6. I saw my surgeon yesterday and I am 12 days post op, dwn 15 lbs and feel great but he wasnt impressed or not impressed.. Simply remindedme that the first week weeks are for healing not weight loss and just take it slow and one day at a time.. I see him in 4 weeks then we will schedule my first fill. Which I am a wreck about.
  7. That is exactly how I would describe what happened to me for the first time yesterday... For me it came out of nowhere.. But lasted 3-4 hrs...
  8. What is PB? Sorry, I am new to this..12 days post op.. I did something stupid and had a similar experience yesterday.. I tried to advance too fast.. I was starving and I had chopped up pasta that was well cooked into tiny pieces and with in an hour had sharp pains in the chest and left shoulder.. Took 4 hrs to go away.... Needless to say I wont advance myself again outside what the diet my nutritionist gave me. ...
  9. My preop clearance took 9 mos then my insurance didnt approve it. Fortunately they overturned it and I had surgery Monday. Good luck.
  10. Hope your surgery went well. I had mine done on Monday 1/3. I agree with the mixed emotions. I had a mini meltdown 2 days preop.. I will tell you what got me through was the support of my boyfriend and family. You may want to reconsider telling family and friends.. They have helped me emotionally more than you can ever image. Good luck to you. Keep in touch. Traci
  11. Why not just be honest? I had my band done Monday and my family and friends were so supportive. I dont regret telling them at all. You may find them to be very understanding and your greatest asset. Good luck with everything and I wish you well.
  12. Hi PhillyGirl.. Thanks for the information. Looks like we are very much in the same place . I was 293 lbs at my highest weight. Lost 33 lbs preop. My doctor never discussed goal weight, but I am thinking 180 or 170lbs. The outpatient option wasnt bad at all except the pain. I was surprised how hard it was to get up from a chair though. I DO try to get up every hour or so to walk. Keep in touch.. Traci
  13. Good afternoon everyone. My name is Traci from Cherry Hill, NJ . Today is my 2nd day post op.. Had my surgery done outpatient which wasnt too bad except the pain. Today is alittle better but I can feel the gas moving towards my shoulders. Any suggestions on how to minimize the pains? Best of luck to everyone. Traci
