    Big Medicine

Do any of you watch Big Medicine on Discovery Health? I have watched a few episode. Now I am wondering if I shouldn't have gotten the bipass surgery. I have been banded for almost a year...only lost 40 pounds. I need to lose so much more than that....I am an impatient person too.

    pneumonia and lapband

Be careful! I think I have a problem. I was just diagnoised with an pneumonia for the second time since August. I got home and was reading about pneumonia's. I read this... Aspiration pneumonia. This type of pneumonia occurs when foreign matter is inhaled (aspirated) into your lungs — most often when the contents of your stomach enter your lungs after you vomit. This commonly happens when a brain injury or other condition affects your normal gag reflex. I think that my throwing up is somehow causing my pneumonia's. Has anyone else had this happened?

    November Bandsters!

Hi everyone. I too haven't been in a long long time. I do want to mention something. I have had two pneumonia's since August. I got home today after my second x-ray and found out I have it again. I started looking around on the internet for reasons. I wonder if the reason is because when I overeat or get stuck...I vomit. Here is what I read... Aspiration pneumonia. This type of pneumonia occurs when foreign matter is inhaled (aspirated) into your lungs — most often when the contents of your stomach enter your lungs after you vomit. This commonly happens when a brain injury or other condition affects your normal gag reflex. Just be careful!

    Deficiencies question

I am feel weak and tired all the time. Has anyone had any known deficiences since their surgery? Who did the testing? Should I go to my primary care doctor or can the surgeon who did my surgery do the testing?

    Deficiencies question

Got back my results...my A1C (Ave. blood sugars) are 8.5, which is high but lower than before the surgery. That is all my doctor mentioned, but after I got a copy from the lab there were some other things. Not sure how much they would do to my feeling tired... Alkaline Phospatase - High Hemoglobin - High Lymphocytes - Low I do feel better now that I am remember to take my vitamin!

    Deficiencies question

You might have to ask Dr. Malley or his nurse Nikki for the blood work. I haven't been in for any adjustments in a long time. I see two other doctors too. I had a A1C for my diabetes in July, but it will be good to see if everything else is ok. My A1C in July was 7.4..not good enough for the doctors. I thought it was good. Too top things off...I have had shoulder pain too. I had a MRI yesterday. The report isn't done yet, but I have connections and it looks like I have bursitis and tendonitis. Now I am worried about taking so much Aleve for it. I'm going to have to ask Nikki when she calls for the results. HERE is the the BIGGEST thing that bugs me...I'm only 43 and falling apart! Losing weight hasn't really helped my energy level yet. BUT...I did move my Vitamins to my bed table and I have taken them everynight now!:clap2:

    Mri

Does anyone know if the metal in the lapband will interfere with an MRI? I hurt my shoulder and need one tomorrow.

    Deficiencies question

I found out about the Revival Soy from a magazine article. Soy has been known to help with stomach fat, which is me me me...also PMS and menopause. Most of the Revival drinks have 20g Protein. I've got an email into the surgeons office to see if they will do the test. I am going to put my Vitamins by the bed and try that to remember. It sure can't hurt!

    Deficiencies question

No and I know I should be taking them. I bought them...but always forget. I am not eating very health and I know it too. I can't eat anything until some time after noon and some days...not even then. My doctor recommended me doing liquid drinks for the morning because I wasn't losing until he tighted it down.

    Hypoglycemic? blood sugar question

I am a type 1 diabetic on the insulin pump. When I have lows (under 70) I drink a small glass of juice or use the glucose tablets. Usually one of those tablets raises my blood sugar by 5 - 10. I use to pig out with Cookies or donuts when my blood sugar went low. Can't do that anymore...get's stuck!
  14. I have found a Soy Protein Drink that you may or may not have heard of. It is Revival. I read about it in a magazine and since it is very difficult for me to eat until the evenings. I purchased a small package and received my first shipment last Tuesday and I love it! I have tried almost all the flavors and a few of the bars. They are individual packets...which I love too. I am going to purchase more and the book. It is my hope that it helps with Belly Fat like it says it does. Here is the website Soy information and soy products at RevivalSoy.com I really feel more energy and I've lost 2 pounds this week.

  19. I'm finally getting down to a weight loss that people are noticing...it feels so good. The first pictures is after my first appointment with a 12 pound loss already. I forgot to take pictures before the surgery. Then the next picture is yesterday after about 47 total! I still have about 40 to go!

    November Bandsters!

Finally...I got back to see my doctor and get a fill. I am being really good this time...I'm not trying to eat yet. He suggested that I go on soft foods for 2 -3 days this time, since the last time I couldn't eat and was miserable. So...far...so...GOOD! I am handling the fill better this time. I hope everyone else is doing well.
  22. Ok...I haven't had a fill for a long time and I haven't lost much weight. I was filled too much at first and couldn't eat. I was Pb'ing all the time, so I had the doctor's office unfilled me. I vary from day to day on the tightness. I don't understand how this thing is suppose to work. How do you feel, how much do you eat and what do you eat? Maybe I wasn't too tight? I am tend to eat the wrong things most of the time. :help:
  23. prbrooksie

How are you suppose to feel?

Thanks...I think I am feeling about the same way you guys are. I am trying to get in for another fill, but my doctors offices doesn't have any nurses that do fills and Dr. Malley hasn't been available. It is a 3 month wait. Another thing I have found that I eat and eat...is salad, but if I have chicken in it...it can get stuck easily, if I am not careful. I've actually lost about 35 pounds on my scales at home. I haven't been back to Dr. Malley's for several months, so on his scales it is only 21. I have an appointment for July 16th! Another month!

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=460><TBODY><TR><TD align=left>Made a Mistake? Make a YOU-Turn</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> Have you enjoyed a few forkfuls of a coworker's cake or picked at your friend's fries? That's OK. You're going to make wrong turns. You're going to be tempted by not-so-good-for-YOU foods. Does that mean you should steer off the dietary cliff and fall into the fatty crevasse of destructive eating? Of course not. Instead of falling into a defeatist mentality by drop-kicking healthy eating the moment you make one bad choice, confront it. How? By repeating the YOU Diet Mantra: "At the next available moment, make an authorized YOU-turn." Say it three times, put down the tub of cookie dough, and get back on the right road.
