    Is my mom jealous :(

I had a similar issue with my mom. She is very overweight and has been all of my life and we were also eating buddies. She just couldn't imagine how I would live without overeating and made every negative comment possible. She was suppose to go with me to mx when I had surgery and the she backed out. I stayed strong about the decision to have surgery and went alone and have no regrets. I don't think my mom is jealous, she is so addicted to food and it's so much a part of her life that she can't imagine living without it and is not willing to face the fact that the diets are not going to work, she has to change her relationship with food in a drastic way.I think my mom projects her own fears on to me because she's not ready to make changes, but I AM! She has been a lot better since surgery, in fact she makes comments about how I appear to be more at peace with life, she is very proud of me but can't bring herself to the point of looking at her own problem, I pray she will one day, she's very important to me and I worry about her health all the time.
  7. I thought I would be depressed about not being able to eat like other people but instead I feel great about it. For the first time in my life I feel like I'm in control of my eating. I eat, get satisfied and then stop eating and I don't miss the extra food at all. I feel more like a normal person now, I NEVER wan't to eat like I use to.
  8. I'm doing great! I can easily meet my protein and liquids and I'm down 35 lbs. 10 was pre-op. I'm going back to work today. wish I had another week off :( I was weepy too! I was watching the show Ruby my second day home and cried like a baby, it was so weird, but it all gets better. The hardest part for me so far is learning my new tummy and watching other people eat. I have no regrets though. I hope the rest of your recovery goes well, you'll feel like yourself in no time.

  9. Just keep walking, take your gas x and pain meds and sip, sip, sip. I promise it gets easier. I'm 12 days out today and I feel awesome. I'm going back to work tomorrow!

  10. Hi Jenn. I had surgery on August 9. Fluids aren't a real issue for me, I have no problem getting my protein in. How about u? I don't have a messenger but I will get one. I would love to keep in touch. I wish you the best of luck :)

  11. I hope your recovery is going well :)

The first couple of days can be rough, but it gets better.

    Volume of Food - Questions!

Hi Tiffy, This is a little unrelated but I had a question. I'm 6 days post op and I have no trouble with getting fluids in or taking my meds whole. I'm 5'10 probably alot taller then most of you girls, could that be why it's so much easier for me to do this? I read other peoples posts about how hard it is to do this and I'm starting to feel abnormal! :lol0: By the way I have been lurking around awhile and I have read alot of your posts and wanted to thank you for all your knowledge, it has helped me alot!
  14. I had surgery on 8/9 and I haven't had to crush any of my pills. I break my antibiotic in half, I took my pain pill whole and I take my anti-acid whole. Am I abnormal?
  15. Hi Everyone. Sorry it took so long to respond. I'm home from MX now. I went alone and had no problems doing so, but everyone else had someone with them. They had room in the recovery house for the the patient and their guests. The recovery house was comfortable and they have everything you need for after surgery, they also feed your guest and have drivers to bring you shopping or sightseeing if u want too. The clinic itself is small but clean. I had alot of pain the night of surgery, I would rate it about 8 out of 10 but the pain got alot better after walking around and as the days have past. I have only had nausea once and that was when they had us drink the blue dye for the leak test YUCK! But others in my group had more bouts of nausea. I feel pretty good now. just trying to stay hydrated and get use to my tiny tummy.
  16. Hey Everyone! I'm officially a sleeve sister now:) I had surgery with Dr. Almanza on 8/9/10. Everything's good so far. This is my last day in Mx so I'm going to do some shopping. Let me know if u have any questions:cool0:
