  1. Ok its day 5 and tomorrow is the big day!!! Im so stoked. I must admit i cheated a bit.. I had tuna. plain tuna. No mayo or nada.

I talked to the nurse and she said that was ok. I just needed smthing solid in my mouth that i could chew and swallow! LOL

She said as long as i stick to the rest of the diet my liver should look nice and pretty :(

My nerves are really starting to kick in! I couldn't sleep last night. So I can just imagine how tonight is going to be!

And I'm getting a slight headache! Im so hungry!

Is anyone else hving surgery tomorrow? How are you handling the last minute urge to stuff your face?!?!?!

  2. Good morning Fellow Bandsters!!!

You guys Im stoked, nervous, extatic all at the same time...

I hv my surgery date 5/6/2010. I start my official PREOP diet on 5/1/2010. i started my own lil version of the PREOP on 4/26 just so that I could get my body used to all the shakes (and i started working out 3 times a week @ the gym).

I met with my surgeon on 4/28. He put my mind at ease about the surgery. It felt good to talk to him and get all my crazy questions answered.

My biggest fear is the next 2 weeks.

The one week PREOP diet and the first week of the recovery stage.

Ive been under before so im not TOO worried about that.

Im just so scared of failing.

I was reading on a thread that one person lost 27 lbs in 8 months POSTOP and then I read a thread about someone who lost 100lbs 5 months POSTOP!!<---I wanna be that person!!

:eek:Is anyone else scared of just down right failing?!?!?

  3. Thanks for the replies! And congrats to all for your weightloss!!!

    Wooohoo!

I have a mini-goal of 300lbs. I hope that by that time ill be atleast in a size 20. Im not to concerned with sizes. I just want to have babies!!!:(

    Stooopid PCOS!:(

But a size 12 would be so nice. :w00t:

I work out on a occasion believe it or not. My weight is pretty evenly distributed.

I have never seen a size 12. I swear I was a plus size new born I cant remember ever shopping in the jr misses section. I went from 3T to 3X.. (well in my mind I did):(

Keep the advise/comments coming. Im trying to take it all in :)

  4. Ok… this may sound like a weird or maybe even dumb ?... But I am starting the pre-op stage in my journey, and I keep getting asked the same question.

'So what (dress) size will you be when you lose 50lbs, 100lbs… etc?'

So I decided to go to the source. LOL:thumbup:

This forum has answered so many ?s for me so I figured I could ask this ? And get good answers from people who have been there done that :(

Im 5'5. 336lbs. Currently wear a size 22/24. My goal weight is 180 but ill be happy with 200. im not too concerned with dress sizes but it would be nice to know what to expect. I plan on weaaring lots of dresses and skirts through my weight loss ( to void buying all sizes of clothes)

    Any answers would be great!

Thanks! Sorry if this ? Is a bit superficial :(

  5. I have a surgery date!!!!

    I:eek:ts May 6th!

AHHHHH i swear i almost fell out of my chair when the nurse said May 6th!

My pre-op diet starts May 1st!! but i was thinking of starting it on April 29th... just so that I can get a head start and if I wanna cheat I can do it the first 3 days (which will technically not be the first 3 days of the mandatory pre-op diet)

    LOL

Oh MyLanta you guys I cant believe Im actually doing this!!! I cant believe Im actually going to take control of my body!

For so long food has been my master and my best friend.

And believe me I have been loyal!!!!

So May 6.... any advise?!?!?!?!?!?!? All is welcome, needed, and appreciated!

  7. Hey ladies! Sorry I'm so late getting on its been a long day! I'm soo happy your surgeries went well & that we're officially on the banded side! So proud of us all. I lost a total of 10lbs on my pre op diet (19.3lbs overall this mt) & my bp was 124/84 this morning! My mom joked well let's go you don't even need this surgery you can do it on your own! (But not for very long I said!) Well my surgery as far as the LAP-BAND® goes went smoothly I'm told that only took 45mins but like Purple said my doc also found a HUGE hernia (he actually showed me a pic). I went in as scheduled about 8am should have been out by 9am but wasn't out til 11:10!! My poor mom, uncle & bf were pacing worried. The doc said he got a lot of reflux when trying to repair the hernia & I guess with the size of it that tacked on 2hrs to my surgery. =/ but as purple said I'm glad that will solve my heartburn & indigestion. Afterwards I had a hard time waking up to the point the nurse began shouting my name & telling me to keep my eyes open & talk. Anesethesia and I have never friends so I expected some complications I was VERY nauseous. I got the max amout of antimetic so I had to just stay uncomfortable (and irritable!lol). The other issue was that towards the end of surgery & during 3hrs in recovery they couldn't get BP readings & began saying they could not send me home the way I was. Even though I was very out of it I knew I didn't wanna get transfered to a hospital overnight.(I'm self pay!) When they did finally get a reading I remember looking over at the machine alarming my BP 188/111 o2sat 94! They were very calm though I knew they were a bit alarmed because they refused to let my family back to see me the entire time I was unstable. I forced myself to stand up tried to calm my nerves & breath deep, it was getting late & I did not want to be transferred. The pain was bearable but the gas pressure & hernia repair were very uncomfortable. My. Incisions feel fine they only hurt when I bend. I finally got out of there with the prize gift of a promise to come back in 5 days since I had a rocky recovery & some blood pressure pills for 30days!! =( I never have taken BP meds and I really felt bad that I needed them at my age (25). Why in the world they gave me pills instead of liquid ill never know but ill gladly take them crushed! I'm willing to suffer anything for my health now. But I am sooo glad this is over & I have celebrated my 'B-day' with some yummy chicken broth! Gunna go rest up now. Happy B-day ladies! And amber best of luck with your surgery! =)

hey there... i still hvnt been banded but im curious..... since they went in and repaired your hernia... did your ins cover the procedure?

sorry if im being nosey.

  8. Hey there Bella and Mommy2P!!!! Good to meet y'all!

I live in the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw school district... I have 3 kids ages 12,11, and almost 5!

My surgeon is Dr. David Kim in Colleyville! How about you guys?

I did not do a sleep study... I should.. but I'm going to opt out of that since I'm a self paying patient... I don't HAVE to do it... so I won't.... ya know?

Tell me more about you guys!!!!!

Hey there! i dont live that far from you! Im going through TRUE RESULTS and have also opted out of the sleep study.

Im really nervous though!!! Today is my birthday :crying:

all I asked for from my friends and family were protien shakes for my pre-op an post-op diet!!! Imma NERD I know!

    Lets stay in touch, yea?

I have a friend that has already gone through the banding process. She is 2 months out from surgery and looks great! She will be my band buddy but I can sure use some more.

Oh and I think my mommy got a me a Magic Bullet .

  9. awesome!

yes I am going through True Results and by using them i will have a whole yr of follow ups nd fills and hv access to support groups.

    Im excited about that!

I really dont know why im so nervous. :)

I have already started buying shakes. lol... just because I know that, that is all I will be drinking for a while. And i need to stock up. my bday is coming up on Friday and thats what i have asked for (for gifts).

    shakes, Shakes, Shakes!

my doc doesnt require and psych eval or a sleep test...

I received a call from the sleep center and i think they scared me into thinking I needed one because I was fat.

i had kidney stones removed a broken ankle I had to get repaired and they never required a sleep test before surgery. :glare:

  10. I started to tell sm folks about the surgery and got sm really unwanted 'support'... '

bel- you dont need that all you need to do is go to the gym and eat better ...'

    :blink:WELL DUH!!!

if it was just that easy dont you think I would have done that ages ago! THE NERVE!!

So I decided to keep it to myelf and just told the ppl that had to know... My SR REP and my BOSS.

Im sure ill be so excited after the surgery that I will tell the whole company! but for now.. its a hush hush operation. :)

Everything will be on a need to know basis.

'.... gym and eat better.' SERIOUSLY! lol

  11. :smile2:im going to see Dr. Snow. he is located across the hall from TR. I just fugured it was more convinient to do it that way and my friend told had her surgery with him as well.

    I dont meet him until 4/28. :)

I cant wait though! I wish I could meet him sooner. Im getting nervous just thinking about it.

whats the first surgeon visit like... from what i hv heard you meet with the surgeon and they explain more about the surgery. I think i will be able to schedule my surgery that day too!!!

I hoping now for mid May!

    AHHHHH

    I can hardly contain myself:lol:

  12. yeah my first visit went great. got my EKG done.

Did they tell you that you had to have a sleep test or a psych test?

Does the surgeon you are going through require it?

Im wondering how the procedure goes if the surgean doesnt require it but True results is saying they need to you get it in order to clear you.

Im confused as to one says needed and the other is saying not needed:confused:

  13. so.....

It went better than expected! I see my surgeon on the 28th. Im shooting for a surgery date of May 26. Id really like to hv my surgery earlier than that but Id like to get my $$$ situation all good before i hv my surgery. Right now im doing cash and sm care credit. Id like not to do the care credit at all if possible.

I do hv a question though... Has anyone ever gone through a place like true results and they told you that you had to have a pysch eval or a sleep test for clearance.

What happens if you dont do them? is it up to the center to clear you or is up to the doctor?

Im just asking because I was asked to do a psych but a friend of mine told me i didnt hv to do it cause the doc doesnt require it.

    Im confused... :smile2:

  14. :lol:Oh you guys are awsome on here!

My Real Birthday is April 16th. It would be great to hv this surgery by the end of this month so that I can have both of my 'BDAYS" int he same month.

i have a good amount of weight to lose!

Small goals is what I keep telling myself.

But just making the decision to get banded is a huge step in the right direction!

Thanks again... Keep the advice and knowlegde coming!

Tomorrow cant come fast enough

  15. hey guys my name is bel and im new to lapbandtalk!

i hv my first visit with True Results in Ft Worth tomorrow.

My insurance does not cover the procedure so this is all out of pocket.

What should i expect on my first visit? They told me that they are going to weigh me and all that good stuff.

Since this is all out of pocket, i think that my process is going to be alot faster than most i read about here.

What should I expect tomorrow? They said something about an EKG.

How long do you think this process will take?

Im so anxious to get this done... lol

I just want to be healthy and live a long life with my Hubby!

Any and all posts are welcomed!!

    thanks in advance
