So Confused
Barbwired, my second fill is scheduled for June 1st also. Let's pray it works for us. I couldn't tell any difference after my first fill a week and a half ago. (fingers crossed)

First Fill and a Bra!
I had problems with wearing underwire bras immediately after surgery and about a month afterwards. I still occasionally have discomfort with them. I had to cut the wires out of a few to make it through and entire week initially. I didn't notice any discomfort after my first fill last week.

Already Cheating!
Mary, you are so not alone. I did liquids for one week and added everything else to my diet a week or so early because I was hungry and had nothing in my band. I got my first fill last week and can not tell any difference. I am doing okay as far as weight loss (I struggled for a couple weeks though), but it could be better if I totally stuck to the instructions. You will have weak moments, just don't live there. Good Luck!!

What was the most difficult to get used to post-op?
I forget about the carbonated drinks. I don't them much so I guess that's why I forget and I have drank 2 since surgery and didn't have any problems.

March bandsters!!!
Hey Everybody, I was banded on 3/15/10. I am down 23.5 pounds since pre-op. I too, will be glad when I can say I'm down 50lbs. I live for that day. I'm trying to set small goals as I go like the 20's by certain date the teens by a certain date, etc. It is great know I'm not alone.

What was the most difficult to get used to post-op?
Not drinking with meals is by far the hardest thing for me to do. Eating slowly and smaller bites is a challenge when I am really hungry. However, my body lets me know almost immediately when I do eat too fast or take bites that are too big. I start hiccuping, trying to burp, and/or feel a build up in my chest.

ATTENTION to those who are less than 3 months post-op and discouraged-READ HERE!!!
I had my first fill (4ccs) on 4/28/10 and can not tell much difference at all. I guess it will take a couple more fills. We are all in this together. Thanks so much for sharing. I need all of this information to stay sane.

ATTENTION to those who are less than 3 months post-op and discouraged-READ HERE!!!
I feel the same way, I wish I had seen this site prior to surgery on 3/15/10. My expectations were all wrong. I expected to lose 5lbs a week. I went for my first fill this past Wednesday and he was like, you should be losing 1.5-2 lbs a week. I thought to myself, now you tell me after I have stressed and felt like a failure for the past 5 weeks. I lost 7 lbs the first week and have lost 23.5 lbs. total (9 pre-op and 14.5 post-op). I have been walking for the past 3 weeks and he told me to start doing full body workouts. This post is much needed because I posted my discouraged thread a couple weeks ago. Thanks so much!!!

Struggling to lose
My doctor did give me strict guidelines, but I have done everything a week ahead of schedule and hope I haven't harmed myself or the band in any way. I am eating soft veggies, almost any meat (chewing well), and anything soft, not high in fat or calories. I am increasing my exercise despite not being very active before surgery. I'm hoping to be up to walking 2 miles a day (four days a week) by the end of this week. Jen, you are doing really well for being banded less than 2 months. Thanks for the advice. I think I need to stop weighing everyday,it is a hard habit to break, like not drinking during meals.

Struggling to lose
Thank you for your input. It sounds like measuring the food is the key. This may be a dumb question, but exactly how do you measure meat? I have had food stuck only once that made me vomit, thank God. I have come close a number of other times though. At least I know I am not alone. I am so glad this site was suggested to me.

newly banded
Hey, I had the band done on March 15th also. I went back to work on March 22 and am doing well physically. I lost 9 lbs before surgery, 7lbs, the first week after surgery and 1.5 lbs the second week. The third week I have gained and lost 2lbs. every other day or so. I am very disappointed in my progress. I thought I would have lost more by now.

Where are all the MS people hiding??
I banded on 3/15/10 by Dr. William Avara in Ocean Springs. He is really nice and will answer any questions. I'm struggling with the weight loss or I have unrealistic expectations but hanging in there. I lost 9lbs pre-surgery and have lost 7lbs post surgery (well lost 8.5 and gained 1.5 back).

March bandster!
Debeli, Laying down was a little difficult for me, too. The gas in my shoulders was bad for the first week, but it did go away after that. I don't remember having any air restriction though.

March bandster!
Hi, I had my band on March 15th, the first week (lost 7 lbs.) went well other than gas and shoulder pain. I still have some bruising that is a little sore. I have struggled since the first week to lose weight though. I got really hungry at the end of the first week. I lost about 1.5- 2lbs. the second week, which is also when I started adding some soft foods. However, I have gained 2 lbs back and am teetering back and forth with those 2lbs. I can't eat nearly what I used to eat and seems that minimally I should be losing 2-3 lbs. a week with that fact alone. I am walking more, and building the distance up slowly. Please let me know what you found helpful until your first fills. Mine is not until April 26th, that seems so far away.

Struggling to lose
Hi Everyone, I had my band on 3/15/10. I lost 7 lbs. the first week and 1.5 the second week, and gained 2 lbs back. I was so hungry by the end of week one I started soft foods by the second week. The second week i could drink 12 oz. and now I can drink 16 oz. Has anyone else had these issues, if so, what did you do to get back on track. My first fill is not until April 26th. I can't eat nearly what I could before surgery and seems like I should be at least losing a couple lbs. weekly. I am walking more, but not a lot. I'm trying to slowing build to longer distances. Any input would be appreciated. :bored:
