  1. All I had to do was have my regular Dr send in a referral. After that Tricare pretty much approved it before I had finished all the tests and classes for the lapband program my Dr does. For me it was really simple and I didnt have to do a thing. Oh, I did have to pay for the nutritionist and exercise people because Tricare doesnt. For me it was easier then a regular Dr appt.

  2. I talked to the Drs office and they said that it is an irritation because my stitches inside havent completely dissolved yet. They said it causes and irritation and will go away. I can use benadryl cream and if needed take some too. If I feel its too bad I can come in but that its very common to get a rash type of reaction especially if you have sensitive skin.

Just some FYI in case it happens to anyone else.

  3. Hi all-

Im 17 days post op. All the dermabond is gone and has been for about a week. Everything seems to be fine and at my post op appointment 7 days ago my Dr said incisions look great. Well... 3 days after my appointment it started to itch all around the 3 main incisions. Now all 5 incisions are itchy and red and a bit swollen. I can handle the itch and the redness and the swelling isn't really that warm. It looks and feels to me like an allergic reaction. It does not appear to be an infection. Looks like contact dermatitis. Anyone have any strange itching after the glue and stuff was gone? I would worry more it it was just one incision and I had a feaver but now all 5 all in different stages of itch and pink. I am going to call the Dr tomorrow but in the mean time Im just interested if anyone else has had it and what they did.

  4. If its not your actually bra, its probably still gas. I went for my post op today and told the Dr. I felt slight pain on my left side about bra level and she told me its probably still gas pockets. It feels like when you get a side ache when you run or something. I told her it hasnt gone away but some times I dont even feel it. She said like all do that walking is the best thing or a heating pad. Hope that helps.

  5. I was banded on the 15th Oct and had hernia repair at the same time too. 10 days out and I feel so much better. I can feel the area with the port but its just tender now. At night I would use a heating pad for about and hour before bed. I haven't had to in a few days. Im sooooo happy I can now roll around at night and sleep on my tummy. Im still tender and if I move to fast I feel tight so I just take it slow. But each and every day I feel a little better.

  6. I feel so much better. My incisions themselves dont bother me. Its just the incisions in the muscle. I really wasnt able to get a lot of liquids down for about 3 days. About day 3 I could actually have strained cream Soups and yogurt and juice. Im still on liquids but the cream soups are great. Today I can actually distinguish between hunger and gas :wink2: Im now starting to actually get hungry. I still cant get down 64oz of Water a day but I can get down at least 32 to 44oz. Im so afraid to drink to much water at one time. Im not sure how that would affect my "pouch". I also had a hernia repaired at the same time so I kinda had a 2 for 1!! Keep resting. You'll notice every morning you feel better. I always amazed at our bodies and how fast we can heal!!! We will be at a year banded before you know it!!!

  7. Im at 7 days too. I tried to actually walk but I can only walk a little still. Not from pain or anything. Im just to damn exhausted. I think having only 300 to 400 calories a day is making it hard to exert a lot of energy. I have a post op on Monday and Ill ask my Dr if I can try anything else.

  8. Hi,

Looking for anyone and any stage. Just looking to encourage and be encouraged. I don't have a preference of location because I am an Army wife who wont be in the same location through this journey. I am 34 years old and have no children. Not by choice. One of the many complications of being "fat". AS of today I am 6 days post op and having a pretty emotional time. I have a wonderful supportive husband but with him being 6'4" and a whole 190lbs his whole life its a little hard for him to understand. He tries!! Just let me know!!

    Thanks:rolleyes2:

  9. I didnt want to tell anyone at first. But I knew I needed support from my loved ones. I did tell most people in my family that I'm close to. My mom makes sure EVERYONE she knows, knows. I don't care at all now. I havent told all my friends but as it comes up I will. I'm trying to stay out of the "limelight" right now since I'm 6 days post op. I just want to heal and get somewhat settled in because I know they will have a million questions.

  10. Im currently on liquids (post -op day5) but I went to the whole foods place my dietitian recommended and got hot chocolate with marshmallows that is 70 cal BUT 15g Protein. I know I wont need so much protein from a drink once my diet progresses but I love this stuff. Its a BariWise product. I was wondering earlier if I could use swiss miss or something else. Fantastic to know Im not the only one who NEEDS hot chocolate!!

  11. Today is post op day 5. Im physically feeling better and better each day. Emotionally not so well. Yes Im morning food but Im also morning not feeling normal. Im missing exercising and just having all my energy. Im not strong enough to walk far and I feel everything I do is just not enough. Im miserable today and just want to cry but that too hurts my muscles. I guess Im having my "What did I do" moment today. I dont know!!! I know Ill get over it but I also know my DH has no idea how to deal with this. He tries to be sweet and understanding but I just want to tell him to shut it. But I wont. AAAAAAGGGGG!!! Emotions go away!!!!!!!!:cursing:

  12. Hi all-

Im scared to death to have Pb. I mean so scared Im considering never moving on from soft food. But then again Im only 4 days post op :( When was your first time? How did it feel? Does it happen often? When you try new food? After do you keep eating? Even if its something else? The thought makes me freak out.

  13. Hi everyone,

I am 3 days post op and everything seem to be ok. During my surgery they found I also had a hernia that needed to be repaired. So between the band placement and the hernia repair I have a bit of pain in the middle of my chest. I know it will be ok eventually. Right now I believe gas is making the opening spaz. Im not loving gas pain. Ive tried gas-ex so far some of the bigger pain is gone but now this fluttering is annoying. My incisions are tight as is the muscle beneath but as I slowly stretch and get moving it becomes easier to move. Anyways.... The gas is HORRIBLE!!!
