  1. I will start by saying I am going to the Dr as soon as I can. Military insurance is different as I have to jump through hoops. Ok..... Was banded 10/10. Had fantastic results. Had a baby 2012. Here we are 2014 and I am 25 pounds heavier then my last fill (which was in 12/11). I'm not having reoccurring heartburn, but last week is was horrible for about 24 hours. Decided I probably slipped. Had an ok time the next day but decided I really need to get my horrid habits under control. Next day had slight reflux like pressure but I totally went away next day. I've been fine for days now but still waiting on being able to get definitive answers from my dr. I've gone back to 3 meals and following my rules. Question. Could it just be too tight as I have gained 25lbs and have just hit that area it doesn't like? Or slip? I do PB a few times a week on "naughty" foods. Currently I feel fine since I've gotten back on track. Thanks to anyone who gets through that lengthy mess.

    Possible slip or too tight?

I have a swallow this week. He doesn't think it's a slip since I have had no problems before or since. I'm following the rules and no issues. But we will see how the swallow goes.

    Possible slip or too tight?

I was eating anything I wanted. And I mean anything. I can eat anything as long as I chew well. By too tight I mean since my last fill I've gained a good amount back. Could I have gained too much, making my band tighter then it should be?

  5. Hi all- Im 17 days post op. All the dermabond is gone and has been for about a week. Everything seems to be fine and at my post op appointment 7 days ago my Dr said incisions look great. Well... 3 days after my appointment it started to itch all around the 3 main incisions. Now all 5 incisions are itchy and red and a bit swollen. I can handle the itch and the redness and the swelling isn't really that warm. It looks and feels to me like an allergic reaction. It does not appear to be an infection. Looks like contact dermatitis. Anyone have any strange itching after the glue and stuff was gone? I would worry more it it was just one incision and I had a feaver but now all 5 all in different stages of itch and pink. I am going to call the Dr tomorrow but in the mean time Im just interested if anyone else has had it and what they did.

    ? For the Ladies

The joy of BC. I quit taking BC Thanksgiving Day 2011 because I was not losing anything.I hadnt lost 1 lb for months I felt bloated ALL the time and my breasts were constantly sore ans swollen, Be extremely careful. I got pregnant the very next week after stopping!!
  7. Dont over buy yet. I found there were things I couldnt stand the taste of post band. I couldnt do broth after. I did SF all fruit popcicles and apple sauce. Find a good protein. I like the ones from dietdirect.com. Along with the protein fruit ones like the raspberry lemon-aid. Right after surgery have gas-x strips or pills. The gas was by far the worse pain associated with the band. Its a lot of trial by error. I would grab a few thing but not too much. You should be out of the house and walking around a day or 2 after so use a trip to the store as exercise. Good luck!! Best decision I ever made!!

    2 week old BAND BABY!

Congrats!! Its amazing what breastfeeding will do for you!! Not to mention the wonderful benefits for your beautiful daughter!!
  9. I feel you. My son is 5 months and although I am about 20lbs below pre preg, I feel stuck in a rut. I am still nursing but the scale went up 2 lbs the last 2weeks. I cant seem to get back in the groove. We gotta do this!! Good luck!!!
  10. I just had an ultrasound that showed several large stones I am having my gallbladder removed in January. There is no treatment for stones other then removal. It is a side effect if you will with weight loss surgery and also in my case pregnancy. I wish it would have been removed when I had surgery.
  11. I had both at the same time. Didnt know I needed it until the Dr was in there. No more heartburn!! But I do need my gallbladder removed now.

    Problems After Having Baby

No problems here. On occasion Ill get stuck but I did that before I was pregnant especially when Im really hungry annd eat fast. Im 3 1/2 month postpartum.
  13. Hi, Looking for anyone and any stage. Just looking to encourage and be encouraged. I don't have a preference of location because I am an Army wife who wont be in the same location through this journey. I am 34 years old and have no children. Not by choice. One of the many complications of being "fat". AS of today I am 6 days post op and having a pretty emotional time. I have a wonderful supportive husband but with him being 6'4" and a whole 190lbs his whole life its a little hard for him to understand. He tries!! Just let me know!! Thanks:rolleyes2:
  14. Up-date: My son was born healthy on Sept 1st!! I had a fantastic pregnancy and delivery. Today I am 11 weeks post baby and everything is great. I gained a total of 30lbs and have lost that plus an additional 18lbs.
  15. Port pain for me came and went the entire pregnancy. It wasnt horrible but there were days I was pretty uncomfortable. Remember there is a lot of stretching going on and that port is attached to muscle. Good luck.

    Pregnant Banders!!

Congrats!! I did very well banded. I gained about 15lbs up to about 32 weeks. From 32 weeks to 40 weeks I gained a total of 30lbs but lost the 30 plus additional 18 as of today at 11 weeks post baby. I did very well pregnant and so far very well after. I think pregnancy agrees with me!!

    How Soon After Banding

I was 13 months post-op when I got pregnant with my son. We tried for 17 years before I was banded and lost 70+ lbs before I got pregnant.
  18. I got the band at 34 and had my first baby at 36. I would have had a very hard time if I didnt lose the weight first. Gestational diabetes was not something I wanted to deal with on top of high bp and and a bunch of other issues I had pre band. I had absolutely no issues during my pregnancy and had a normal vaginal delivery. My son and I were both healthy and pre band I dont know if we would have been. I couldnt get pregnant for 17 years pre band. The 18 months I waited after surgery was worth it. I plan on trying again next year and will be 38 before the next one. I believe its better to be a healthy older mom instead of an unhealthy only a year younger mom. Good luck.

    Stomach Pains Near Port

At the end of my pregnancy (34-40 weeks) my port was very sore. Remember your port is attached to the muscle. I didnt get very big until the last 3 weeks or so and thats when it hurt the most. More uncomfortable than anything. Especially when I layed or leaned on it. I never had any Fluid removed but I also didnt have morning sickness. The pain goes away the moment the baby is born. Well at least for me it did. I do remember in my 1st trimester and the beginning of my second as my body stretched, I did feel my port but it went away until the end. Congrats and good luck!!
  20. Oh and port pain, I felt twinges about 26 weeks and starting about 33 weeks I couldnt put pressure on it. Like leaning to the side on the couch was sore. Sometimes it was uncomfortable and once I was at the end everything was sore. The second he was born I havent felt it again.
  21. I gained a total of 30lbs and 2 weeks after delivery I was at pre pregnancy weight. At 5 weeks postpartum I at down an additional 10lbs. I gained most of it in the last 5 weeks. First trimester I gained 1lbs second tri a of 15 and 15 more the last 5 weeks. The last 2 weeks I was pretty swollen, not bad swollen but until then I had no swelling at all. I had a big baby (like is daddy) and the rest was blood and placenta. Dont worry. If your healthy 30lbs will fall right off.
  22. I dont know why a lot of Dr's say you may have to have a c-section. I dont think we bandseters are at any different risk if we have healthy pregnancies. I understand some have to but not all. I had a fantastic labor and delivery. Not one time during my entire pregnancy did I have complications from the band. I mean in my last month I couldnt eat much but I had a 9lb baby taking up the room. I lost all the baby weight within 2 weeks and now 5 weeks postpartum I am down an additional 10lbs. The beauty of breastfeeding.
  23. I didnt have an unfill but I delivered 5 weeks ago. I had no problems at all with the band at any point of my pregnancy or delivery. Good luck and Congrats.
  24. Sept 1st we welcomed our first baby and a lapband baby!! Without the band, my little sweet man would not be here! The band is the only reason that after 17 years, I was able to get pregnant. Anyone who needs encouragement, the band is worth it and with time fertility can be returned. It has been a very emotional 17 years and I am so excited that I am healthy enough to have given birth to a beautiful baby boy.
  25. I ate whatever I wanted. I did try to eat healthy but my son made me crave beef and I didnt eat red meat for several years before getting pregnant. I did drink juice every day, not a lot of carbs but meat was a must. Eat several times a times a day and later in your third tri eating smaller meals will keep the heart burn at a minimum. I didnt have heartburn until the last month and no morning sickness. Just try to eat balanced and good food. You cant really do wrong if you just try to eat healthy. Good luck!! Oh, and my son is 13 days old and I am 3lbs below my pre pregnancy weight which is the lowest Ive been!!
